For Madison Grayson, life is good. Newly licensed as a marriage and family therapist, she can’t wait to start her practice. Despite the unfortunate shortage of eligible bachelors on the island–they’re all too young, too old, or too weird–Maddie feels like she’s finally found her sweet spot. Not even one panic attack in the last year. Not one.And then Ricky O’Shea drops in. Literally. Floating … Literally. Floating down from the pure blue sky, the one man in the world she hoped never to see again–the one who’d been her archnemesis from kindergarten through her senior dance–parachutes into town, landing on Boon Dock, canopy draping behind him like a superhero. Ricky O’Shea. Now Pastor Rick, the new minister on Three Sisters Island.
Time to panic.
With wit and a bit of whimsy, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Three Sisters Island where family, forgiveness, and a second chance at love await.

ON A COASTAL BREEZE….Suzanne Wood Fisher
Madison has her license even a scheduled appointment, a couple before getting married for a session. She feels at home here on Three Sister Island even though there aren’t the eligible men. Excitement outside drew her out to see what it was about. Literally a parachute coming down to a perfect landing. To find he was the new pastor. His name sends a shock to her it can’t be but it is a man from her past. From grade school he had been her nemesis. The sisters, different characters as well as the setting, brings us once again to the Island and what is happening, and how lives can be changed. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion from Net Galley and Revell.
The Three Sisters Island series continues. In book two, Maddie is finding her footing and setting up her counseling practice. She loves God and her family and wants balance to her days. But, Ricky O’Shea, a boy she had a love/hate relationship with, for years, drops back into her life. Maddie’s not perfect, she’s made mistakes and those memories, just might take her over the edge. But has Ricky changed? I enjoyed visiting Three Sisters Island again, Suzanne Woods Fisher catches us up on what’s going on with the rest of the family and how Camp Kicking Moose has improved. This is a great series, set on an island off the coast of Maine. Maddie’s story is one of doubts and pain, forgiveness and fresh starts. Kick your feet up and visit the island for a few days of relaxation. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Suzanne Woods Fisher is best known for her Amish books so when I seen this series I knew I had to read it.
This book was such a delightful read and so is the author who wrote it. I love anything she writes!
I like how she makes her characters’ feelings seem realistic and I can feel them coming out at me throughout the story.
Fear has a stronghold on these women’s lives and it’s what’s holding each member of Maddy’s family back.
I like how Woods gives us a look inside each family member and what really holds them back from being what they truly can be.
People can change but only if they want to. Rick is just such one character. I enjoyed him immensely. A Marine turned Pastor wow! You’re in for a wonderful treat!
Suzanne weaves some wonderful messages throughout this book without being preachy about it. I like that.
I like this saying” Once you know a truth you can’t unknow it.” How true this is. Sometimes when you know a truth it changes in how you look at yourself as a person or it can change in how you look at the other person if that makes sense?
Maddy is my favorite person in the family. I think I like her because she’s just like everyone else. She has fears, doubts and many other feelings. I love how she takes time out to analyze her feelings for life in general. Sometimes it takes time for her to process certain events in her life.
I’m the same way. It takes time for me to process things in my life. Especially the bad things. In other words it takes time for me to forgive. When I do it sets me free. Forgiving is hard I know but it’s the best especially if we want to be Christ like minded. The truth will also set you free.
She’s certainly got a tough job in the family that’s for sure! One I sure wouldn’t want but apparently I am.
Poor little Coop. Such a sweet little feller. All of us have anxieties in life but I think it’s the kids who are hit the hardest. He’s had so much change in his life. It’s hard for him to process. I’m still rooting for you little guy! You’ve stolen my heart!
I was happy to see Peg back! I think she’s got an even tougher job. I’ve been there and done that. I admire her spunk, courage and a good attitude towards people. She reminds me of Taco Charlie.
A very moving, well written book. One I enjoyed immensely! I didn’t want to say goodbye to Maddy or her family!
I highly recommend this book and you’ll be thinking about the characters long after the story is finished. Especially Paul. What will happen to him?
Will each family member face their fears or will they keep running away from them? You’ll just have to read this awesome book to find out!
My thanks to Netgalley and Revell for a complimentary copy. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
Oh la la, this book!
I expected to need a brush up on the first book in the Three Sisters Island series, On A Summer Tide, but I was wrong. It was like stepping right back into a loved little town, eh, island, that is, with old friends and new I fell in love with the people in this novel all over again.
The redemption in On A Coastal Breeze was so well done! I am in love with how Suzanne Woods Fisher wrote the sequel in her series. The sisters’ point of view was done in a way that the story never became too coatic and did not switch from character to character too often.
Since I read the first book I have been looking forward to finding out more about the girls’ growing up years and their take on their family as they had gone from young children to women dealing with grief.
Rick, wow, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but wow! I love the whole former Marine now pastor thing, I loved it, surprisingly due to the fact he was a Marine! 😉 And the glimpses we got of him as Pastor Pick were so good! The author did a wonderful job of showing a sermon without it being boring, and the lessons, wow. *heart eyes* I just love him. I did not see the surprise we got from him though. Oof! Not expected at all.
Cooper, poor little Coop! He just breaks my heart with his anxiety, I felt so bad for him and his young fearful mind. The poor boy had been through so much, but the ending of this book tied up the little family’s story in a sweet way.
The faith in God showed through in a wonderful way that was real and I could feel a connection with, and it was done without a bit of over the top preaching. The spiritual content was spectacular!
I enjoyed all of the points of view, and I almost forgot, I need to know what happens with Paul! His little shock at the end, why do that to me?
I cannot wait for the next book after that snippet cliffhanger of the next book. It will not come out soon enough for me. After all, I caught a hint of an idea that I hope turns out…
Just a note that due to certain content this book is for 16/18 up.

I love the setting: Three Sisters Island, Maine. A tiny island with a hundred inhabitants. I’m from a small town of a thousand or fewer, so I understand the concept of a small community with challenges and struggles. This island is the home of three sisters—Cam, Maddie, and Blaine. This is book two and focuses on Maddie and her new business on the island and her possible relationship with Rick, the new pastor.
I have three sisters, and I’m the oldest. The similarities are amazing in the fact that each sister is so different in personality. It doesn’t matter that the parents are the same. The girls in the novel can’t help being different which brings challenges in relationships and family dynamics. Such a mystery in real life! As a side note, I’m married to a pastor; therefore, those problems being in the fishbowl are so true. Reading them on paper hit home.
On the island, where life should be simple and slow, things get heated with the arrival of the new pastor. The sisters have life problems that island life doesn’t help. Even though this is book two, Suzanne does an excellent job of introducing the characters that must have been revealed in book one. I liked this one so much that I’ve ordered number one. I’ll enjoy getting to know the characters better. And I hope there is a book three.
I enjoyed book 2 of this series very much. This is an author whose Amish fiction books were among my very favorite and although I am very used to reading those, it has been a refreshing change to read this series. The characters are enjoyable and all very interesting in their particular spheres in this series, Cam, Blaine and Maddie are sisters on the island, all with different and unique interests. It’s been an enjoyable series and decisions about marriage, careers, health and other topics are a part of this book. And there are secrets which make the characters who they are, how they feel about themselves and others.
I enjoyed how Maddie’s story went back to her youth and explained her feelings, her memories and her thoughts. This was Maddie’s story and I think, am hoping, anyway, that the next book will be Blaine’s story.
I also enjoyed the discussion questions at the end. Found them thought provoking in many ways. All in all, a really good book!
I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing and Net Galley. All thoughts are my own.
I love being back on Three Sister Island, and picking up where we left off in the first book! The author starts this read off with a bang, well sort of, can you imagine the person who tormented you during your youth parachuting onto the Island? Better yet, he is the new minister! This is basically what happens to Maddie, and now she will work in the same building, an office at the church, and see him all the time. Has Rick O’Shea changed? Rather a chuckling picture, especially when we learn what he did to torment her from kindergarten on.
Now, remember Seth and Cam? We are waiting for a wedding, rather impatiently, and Blaine is dealing with her palate, and something worse, and we hope she will have it resolved! Dad, is still working to improve his dream, and dealing with an infatuated duck, as well as Peg, and keeping the Grayson family together!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, books to definitely get lost in!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
“On a Coastal Breeze” by Suzanne Woods Fisher
There is a lot going on, on Three Sisters Island. I am glad I was there for the adventure(s). I do adore clean sweet family, friends, and romance stories. This is the second book in the “Three Sisters Island” series. It can be read as a stand-alone but if you have not read book 1 in the series, I am sure you will want to read that story when you finish this story. That said, this is a not to be missed book in my humble unbiased opinion. It really does have everything… and you do not want to miss … the duck ! Happy Reading ! !
note: I requested and was granted an ARC of this story by the publisher via NetGalley with the hope that I would write a review… I only write honest reviews which express “MY” opinions.
“Oh my word . . . . . . He said he was going to parachute in today, but I didn’t think he meant literally.”
Oh, he meant literally, alright. When Three Sisters Island’s new pastor lands deftly on two feet, with the predicted parachute trailing behind him, the island residents are automatically intrigued. Everyone, but Maddie Grayson, that is. She cannot believe that her childhood nemesis is . . . . first of all a preacher, and second of all, going to be living and working on the main floor of the building which houses her newly formed counseling practice. Of all the nerve; Ricky O’Shea.
Of course, the island’s small church community grows quickly; Pastor O’Shea is a gifted speaker and has the ability to preach God’s Word in the simple, genuine kind of way that appeals to his audience. As Maddie finds it harder and harder to hold on to juvenile grudges, she is also distracted by the unrest within both of her sisters. It’s turning out to be quite a summer on Three Sisters Island.
Written with the ease of a seasoned author, “On a Coastal Breeze” captures the essence of authentic, as each sister struggles to conquer her own invisible fears; feeling totally inadequate, incessantly driven, or incredibly inept. Filled with a surprising amount of wisdom and depth, this story is a solid, enjoyable, and quite romantic addition to the series.
“Did you know that ‘fear not’ is mentioned three hundred and sixty-five times in the Bible? One for every day.”
“God has not given us a spirit of fear but power and love.” . . . . “and a sound mind”.
I received a copy of this book from Baker Publishing through Interviews and Reviews.
book 2 of the serie, but you can easily read it as a stand alone book.
The story is set in a Island of Maine, the main characters are Greyson family:
dad and her 3 daughters: determined, workaholic Cam, psychiatry, reflexive Maddie, free, young, full of life Blaine.
the story is realistic, haunting, easy to rea, entertaining.
I’m barely put down the book, eager to know and read about the life on the Island, sure I’ll miss the characters.
This is the second book in the Three Sisters Island series. All I can say is Awesome! I loved it. I was hooked with the first book and eagerly awaited this one. I was not disappointed. As with the first book, the book includes the family of three adult sisters and their father as they continue life on Three Sisters Island. This book focuses on Maddie, who has recently opened a counseling practice, and on a Rick, the new pastor on the island. We get to reconnect with Cam, Seth, and Cooper, Blaine, and the women’s father, Paul. This book also focuses on how fear often dictates what happens in a person’s life and how letting go of that fear can be freeing and open one up to life’s possibilities. Of course, as all of the residents of the island can attest to, that is easier said than done! I enjoyed watching each character’s journey towards new experiences, new relationships, and strengthened faith. I eagerly await the third book in the series, and highly recommend this book and this series.
This is first book I have read by Suzanne and I loved it. This is part of trilogy about 3 sisters. This is middle sister Maddie’s story. She returns home to set up new family therapist practice. She finds out her childhood and high school nemesis Rick is now the new pastor. As a child Rick tormented her. Rick was her school girl crush. They connect in high school. When Rick kisses her she feels more alive than ever before. They end up separating due to big misunderstanding. Rick is confident and self assured. Rick takes risks. Maddie has self esteem issues is not a risk taker. I love how they convince each other to face their fears. They both admit they have loved each other since childhood. This was wonderful small town romance. I loved all the secondary characters. I cannot wait to read Blaine’s story.
Book # in the Three Sisters Island books. A fresh start. A second chance. A good, fun read.
On a Coastal Breeze is the second book in the Three Sisters Island trilogy and is every bit as good as the first, In a Summer Tide. Where book one focused mainly on Cam, the eldest sister, this book focuses on Maddie, the middle sister. I found her insight on grieving the death of a mom and how to control anxiety perfect timing. Between the death of my mom and the coronavirus, I have felt more anxiety in my life than I ever have, and hate that feeling.
I’m still not a fan of the youngest sister, Blaine, as she continues to be selfish and very childish. I’m interested to see what book three brings in the way of her story.
A delicious recipe for homemade granola has been included at the conclusion of the book.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Revell, through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.
This book continues on where On a Summer Tide left off. The author has a way of making this reader feel like I’m right there on the Island with the Grayson family and the community residents. I enjoyed every part of this book. I loved the author’s writing style and the characters she penned into the story. Her description of island life in Maine made me want to vacation there. Very well researched.
Paul Grayson is starting into his second year of running the camp on Three Sister’s Island. The newness of moving into the area and fixing up the cabins and camp grounds has worn off and Paul finds that some of the campers are impossible to please. He has little time to himself and as he turns 60 he seems to be having a hard time making decisions. He begins to notice Peg Legg , the owner of the town’s cafe, and thinks about asking her out on a date, but then there’s Bob Lotosky, the Potato farmer who also has an eye for Peg.
Cam and Seth are planning to get married that is if she can stop her quest in getting a grant to put in a reliable electrical grid for the island, long enough to plan her wedding.
Madison opens an office and sets up her practice as a marriage and family therapist. But then the new pastor Rick O’Shea lands in town and Madison learns he was the boy at school who made her life miserable. From kindergarten through high school. Can this really be happening to her just when she’d begun to get settled into her new practice.
Blaine comes home after attending one year of culinary school. Something seems wrong and she won’t open up to anyone about it. Then she announces to the family that she won’t be going back to culinary school in the fall. Instead she will go to Paris and eventually travel the world.
Copper Grayson develops a fear of water after he hears the new pastor preach a sermon on Jonah and the whale. It becomes so bad that he won’t even agree to take a bath. Seth and Cam decide it’s time to take him to see a child physiologist.
This is an excellent book for readers of contemporary romance . It also is clean read with references to God and the Bible. I found it to be enjoyable and the book met my expectations. I recommend it for your reading pleasure.
I downloaded an ebook copy to my Hoopla App. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here in this review are my own.
On a Coastal Breeze by Suzanne Woods Fisher has Madison Grayson, newly licensed as family and marriage therapist, setting up her practice on Three Sisters Island, Maine. Maddie is optimistic and happy until she learns the identity of the new pastor who happens to be parachuting onto the island (talk about an entrance) on the day she is opening her practice. Rick O’Shea tormented from kindergarten through her senior year of high school. Maddie hopes she can avoid him, but that is hard to do on the postage stamped sized Three Sisters Island. Blaine is returning home for the summer after a year at culinary school. She has news for her father that Blaine knows he will not take well. Cameron is busy submitting grants to fund the self-sufficient, renewable energy program she wants to implement on the island. When Cam is working on a project, she makes it her sole focus which can be detrimental. On a Coastal Breeze is the 2nd novel in the Three Sisters Island series. While it can be read on its own, I recommend reading On a Summer Tide first (it is fabulous). I thought On a Coastal Breeze was well-written with developed, realistic characters on a beautiful island. There are some delightful quirky residents with my favorite being Peg Legg who runs the Lunch Counter and is the island’s mayor. I just love Three Sisters Island. It sounds like a great place to live. I can certainly understand why Cam wants the get the island its own energy source with the electric cutting out every day for hours at a time. The focus of On a Coastal Breeze is Maddie, but we catch up with Cam, Blaine, and Paul as well. Blaine is known for not finishing what she starts which worries her father. The author touches on a delicate subject which I thought was handled very well. I am eager to read Blaine’s story in the next Three Sisters Island novel. I enjoyed the humor in the story (I love a book that makes me laugh). I liked the flashbacks into Maddie’s life. It allows us to see what transpired between Rick and Maddie when they were kids as well as to understand Maddie’s feelings. My favorite thing in On a Coastal Breeze is the little duck that takes a fancy to Paul. As Paul said, some men get a dog as their faithful companion, he gets a duck. Fear is the main theme in On a Coastal Breeze. We see how fear affects each member of the Grayson family. My favorite line is, “All of life is a risk.” The only thing I found disappointing was the wedding scene (you will find out why when you read the book). On a Coastal Breeze is a delightful and touching novel with culinary catastrophes, an uneasy youth, funding misfortunes, a charismatic clergyman, decision dilemma, and a doting duck.
I haven’t meet a Suzanna Woods Fisher book I didn’t love!
On A Coastal Breeze is a book filled with the complexities of family and friendship. Centered around the lives of three sisters who couldn’t be any more different, there is one common thread between them—they are all battling their own fears.
Maddie is the middle sister, the glue that holds the others together. As a psychologist she’s able to clearly see their fears, but can she deal with her own?
Her life has been turned upside down by the return of the boy who tormented her all through school, and broke her heart. Now he’s the new pastor. Her emotions are in a turmoil, and avoidance seems like the best choice. But is it?
As each character comes face to face with those things that hold them back, will they be able to overcome? Are forgiveness and redemption enough?
This is a great family story given to me courtesy of Baker Publishing by Interviews and Reviews through NetGalley. This is my honest review.
On a Coastal Breeze continues the saga of three sisters and their widowed father in “On a Summer Tide.” I appreciate the flawed characteristics in the characters and the logical way things work out for them. Seems I’ve been reading a lot of “sister” books lately, and this one is worth the time!
Almost happily ever after, but there is one more book in the series — which I didn’t realize when I bought it. But even coming in at book 2, I really enjoyed the book and all the developments within a family of three grown sisters. It was my first book by this author, but I will be reading her again.
