This was a great and fun read. It was like reading six connected but different shorter stories at once. These six friends all try to find the love of their lives. Now there should be a book about their marriages and babies called The Next Years of Love.
A sweet collection of short stories about six friend finding happiness and love. Each one of these stories is wonderfully written and full of love. A great book to have for when you just want a fast HEA read by a great author. Grab it now and read it over and over.
This is truly the most gloriously romantic and hope-filled collection of short stories. There really should be more collections like this! I love that each was self-contained, but also contributed to an over-arching story. Nicely written, with lots of emotion and a lot of laughs. Felt like a collection of brunch dates with my best girlfriends – the tone is very accessible and the stories read just like the very best real-life romance stories.
What an amazing read.
This book follows 6 friends on their journey of finding love and romance with lots of funny moments and unexpected things that will keep you turning page after page wanting to know what happens. It has a little something for everyone I guarantee that you won’t be bored with this book. Can’t wait to read more from her.
This book followed six friends and their search for love in the new year. It had all the feels as each holiday marked a new girl finding her chance at a happy ever after with guys they just met or already knew that they were seeing in a different light. It had everything I look for in a great book, laughs, love, and plenty of breathless anticipation as we waited and watched each woman figure out their own path. My favorite was Emma, the sweet teacher, falling in love with Owen, her hot single Dad. I just loved Emma’s sweetness! Baileys unfailing honesty was also a favorite spot. It was a very light hearted sweet romance and just what I needed to start out my new year on the right foot. Its perfect for everyone to pick their own favorite to root for!
5 CRANKY STARS
I don’t normally read romance novels but I love the way Jessica Wayne builds her stories. The characters are very real and feel like the girls next door. This book is unique in that it deals with two New Year’s Eves and five holidays (Valentine’s Day, St. Pat’s, Easter, Independence Day and Halloween.)
Our main characters are six twenty somethings with promising careers and seemingly no love lives. They date often but Mr. Right just hasn’t come around yet. Having been best friends for years, after college they got two condos in the same building, on the same floor. Emma, Brooklyn and Bailey share one condo and Lillian, Pam and Ada share the other. The story starts on New Year’s Eve 2017 with the girls at their favorite nightclub. They wish for success in life and love in 2018. Well, as it gets closer to Valentine’s Day, Brooklyn eyes the man that dreams “are made of”. Emma is the focus in St. Patrick’s Day, Easter belongs to Lillian, Independence Day is Bailey, Halloween is Pam’s story and the final love story just before New Year’s Eve 2018 is Ada.
Each story is separate and unique. Some have crazy twists and turns but I personally loved each and every one of these girls. I can’t wait to explore other books by Jessica Wayne.
What a amazing read of book about wanting out of love. This shows that their can have friendship and love all the time.
This book deserves way more than 5 stars!!! I absolutely love jessica Wayne’s books!! So this book is about 6 friends finding love after wishing for it on new years. I have to say all were great stories!!! They had romance, suspense, and sexy men!!!
Brooklyn & Tucker: Tucker is a sexy cop who was hit by a car and in the ER where he met Brooklyn. It was a romantic story!!
Emma &Owen: my favorite story! Nothing sexier than a good dad!! His daughter was being bullied so he went to talk to his teacher… next thing you know they are in love!! Don’t want to giveaway too much.
Lillian & Adam: Adam is such a sweet man!! If only all uber drivers were as sexy as he is!! He saved a dog that was hit and took it to the vet!! Then fell in love with the vet! But who could blame Lillian he was so caring!
Simon&Bailey: I love a good story with sexy military men!! He and bailey had delicious chemistry and he was so supportive with her new business venture!!!
Pam&Kirk: a librarian and a Romance novel writer. He was so romantic it makes you swoon!! And grrr to the publisher!!!
Jasper&Ada: my 2nd favorite… super close to first!! Jasper was in love with her for years she was with a jerk.. finally broke up with him!!! Some great action in this story gets your heart pounding!!!!
An enjoyable compilation of short stories about a group of girlfriends who are searching for true love. Each story stands alone, but they are interconnected. A great read!!
Brooklyn, Emma, Lillian, Bailey, Pam, and Ada have been best friends since childhood. They each make a wish for love on New Years and each woman finds love throughout the course of the year. I really liked how each woman has her own story in this book but they are all interconnected. Sweet, fast paced read.
What happens when New Year’s Eve wishes are made? A year of love matches.
Best friends find love where they least expect it. It’s not all sunshine and roses for these ladies though.
A first for me from this author and I really liked the book. It was different than your normal romance. It was broken in sections of course for the year and then also by friend. It was an easy light read.
A Year of Love was a good, light hearted read. I liked how the stories are all interconnected. Each friend’s character being developed more as you follow them though their own journey to find love. All of their stories were sweet, heartwarming and left me smiling.
Brooklyn, Bailey, Emma, Lillian, Pam, and Ada and their year of love that begins with a New Year’s wish as they tell their individual story through the holidays in the year. I found it to be cute. The story, as it was told through the holidays were a bit fast-paced, because there are only so many holidays in a year. But it was a charming story. It is good if you want a light book.
This is the first thing I have read by Jessica Wayne, but doubt it is my last. This book begins on New Year’s Eve and it chronicles the lives of 6 best friends as they all endeavor to meet the loves of their lives and settle down. Each holiday seems to begin with one of the 6 meeting their guy or seeing someone they know in a new light. It was like many different short stories, but they also had many of the same characters, and some you saw the relationship keep growing. I’d love another book of their marriages and lives as newlyweds, and then another as they all begin having children.
A really nice set of stories and characters.
Waaay more than five stars! If I could give it more than five I would! This book is a beautifully written story about six women who are as close as sisters finding love over the course of a year. It starts with a new years wish from each woman and follows through the year with each woman finding love across the various holidays through out the year. The way that Jessica Wayne incorporates each story with the other seamlessly keeps you turning the pages. You can’t wait to find out what happens and how each woman eventually gets exactly what she wished for although sometimes unexpectedly. By the end of the book you will be falling in love with the many men and wishing for one of your own. I only hope that the author somehow does a follow up book letting us know what happens with these characters! I want to be a part of this fun group of people!!!
I loved this collection of quick sweet stories about six friends who all find love and happiness! Every single short story was amazing and beautifully written so much so that I couldn’t help but fall in love with each of the characters.
This book was so nice and sweet. 6 friends make a new years wish each to find love. This takes us on the journey of these 6 friends that grew up together and have stayed best friends through it all. They each find love in their own way. I love how each one has their own story but still connects to all of their friends story. Loved it.
I love this concept of a New Years toast about finding love and happiness. What I didn’t like was all 6 complete insta-loves. I mean INSTA. I can see “the girl” falling, but all 6 guys??? Um not so much. Not only all 6 (well really 5 as one was more friends to lovers), but all 6 were very F.I.N.E. men, not that hot men can’t fall in love fast and not that unattractive guys do, but seriously.
Let’s start with Brooklyn, I love her. I love Tucker. But their Valentine’s timeline didn’t work. We start with it being V-day, then V-day is the next day, then it’s in a week. Just NO. Besides not being an insta-love fan, I HATE bad timelines. Pick a day/date and make it work, don’t keep moving time around.
Then we have Emma/Owen. I love Owen and Mia. But…. How could Emma have Mia in her class from Sept and not meet Owen until March? Um NO. There were other holidays in there with programs. There was meet the teacher day (ESPECIALLY FOR A KINDERGARTNER), with an absent Mom she would have HAD to of met Owen.
I like Lillian and Adam. I liked that we sorta met him in the beginning too. But really that was not a great timeline either. Champ comes in, has surgery and leaves in a day. With no mention of his wounds healing. Like they just healed over night. Broken leg, broken tail, spleen removal and he’s good to go. No mention of him being neutered. All of it FREE OF CHARGE. I know I’m knit-picking. I know, but seriously unless it’s supernatural, I want some reality in my fiction.
Pam and Kirk were cute. Publicist was a bit of a freak.
Bailey and Simon was a little bit of an insta-lust from his point. But then BAM. Still a little bit better.
Lastly Ada and Jasper. This was the friends to lovers. But once Ada’s eyes are open then she’s all in insta-style. GRRRRR
I would have loved a bigger jump forward at the end. But again timelines weren’t really a thing in this story.
This book is about six best friends and their journey over a year as they each find their happily ever after. Each story is tied into one another but unique in their own journey. Some are sexy, sweet, some have crazy exes. The journey as a whole was fun and their bond awesome cause it stays un breakable
