The epic finale of the Becker Brothers series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.It’s a man’s world. When I declared sports medicine as my major and every man narrowed their eyes, that saying proved true. It was true when my ex-husband decided I’d give up my career when our daughter was born. And again when I divorced the Chief of Police in our small town, and he made it painfully clear that … made it painfully clear that I could leave him, but I would never be free.
Landing the job as the new athletic trainer for Stratford’s high school team is my chance to start over. And walking into a male-dominated sport and staff, I’m ready for the challenge.
I’m not ready for Jordan Becker.
The head coach of our championship winning team is a Herculean force of nature–as severe as he is determined. His icy blue eyes and permanent scowl drive the women in this town mad, and his quiet power and undeniable command conjure respect from every man.
When I join his team, I expect the doubt and anticipate the fight from him. And I get them both.
I don’t expect to form a friendship.
And I never expect to fall for him.
My breath catches when those cool eyes fall to my lips. My body comes alive when his is near. And as those lines begin to blur, every warning bell sounds.
My job, my reputation are on the line.
And my ex is around every corner, waiting to remind me of his power.
It’s a man’s world, and if I want to survive, I can never fall in love with Jordan Becker.
Even if he falls in love with me first.

WTH just happened!?!
Kandi Steiner blew me away with this one. I have been both anxiously awaiting and dreading the fourth and final book about the Becker Brothers. Anxious to see what kind of amazing love story Jordan would get, and to see if the mystery surrounding their father’s death would be solve. Dreading it because I am in love with this family and don’t want their stories to be over, guess I will have to settle for rereading these books.
So, let’s start with Jordan. He is the oldest of the Becker brothers. He was adopted as a baby, but the family always treated him as if he were blood. He has always been the quiet one, and thought that he would never find the kind of love his parents had, or his brothers have found. He is the kind of guy who doesn’t want to sleep around, or have casual relationships. He wants what his parents had, or nothing at all.
Then Sydney comes into the picture. At first Jordan isn’t thrilled by the fact that the recently divorced, beautiful woman has been hired as the athletic trainer for his football team. He eventually realizes that she is an amazing trainer, and quickly whips the boys into shape regarding her and how they treat her.
Sydney is an incredibly strong woman. She has always been intrigued by the human body and how it works. So she became an athletic trainer, a highly sought after one at that. Unfortunate circumstances kept her from doing what she loved, and at home with her daughter. Then she was finally able to get divorced and find a job doing what she loved.
Jordan and Sydney have a powerful connection that they try to deny, then hide. But small towns aren’t blind.
These characters are so incredibly well written. All of our old favorites from the previous books return, including Betty. We also meet some incredible new ones. Paige is the most incredible little 9 year old tom boy ever. I almost hope someday we get more of her story, maybe she could be the first female NFL player!!! She is awesome!!!!
The story told in this book is like a roller coaster. There are ups and downs, and you better make sure you hold on to your seat towards the end because it is one crazy wild ride. Reading the end of this book for me was bittersweet. Because it did signify the end of a journey with these characters, but it was such an incredible ending.
The first three books in Kandi Steiner’s Becker Brothers series were fantastic, but when I saw that book 4, Old Fashioned, was a sport romance, I knew there was a good chance I’d call it my favorite when I was done. And I was correct! This book was a great wrap-up to the series mystery and I loved how much we got to catch up with Jordan’s brother who were featured in the first three books. Jordan and Sydney’s story was amazing and so engrossing. Their attraction and romance was explosive and I loved them together. Jordan’s interactions with Sydney’s football-loving daughter Paige was such a big part of the book- I was so impressed with how protective and supportive he was of her. Old Fashioned had just the right amount of angst and steam and I am so happy with how the series ended. This series is a must-read.
What did I just read?!?!?!
Jordan and Sydney were WOW!
Jordan, the adopted Becker, but no one saw him that way. The high school football coach and teacher just trying to have another winning football season.
Sydney, the police chief’s ex-wife, is trying to find her way now that her marriage is over. Doing what she needs to do to take care of her daughter.
“Sydney Kelly was not the kind of woman you could pass by without noticing – she never had been”
When Sydney gets a job as the football teams’ new trainer, everything changes.
Jordan and Sydney start out rough, but as time goes, they become close. Very close.
But they have obstacles in their way.
They work tighter and Sydney does not want to be seen in a bad light.
Sydney’s ex-husband who still feel like he “owns” her.
And a few other things.
What will happen when things come crashing down around both of them?
Will they be there for each other or will it all be too much?
This story…… HOLY PLOT TWIST!!!!!!!! I did not see that coming what so ever!!!!
I loved the realness both characters had. I loved that they had flaws. That they were real people.
I am sad this series is over. I am going to miss the Becker brothers so much. This family had amazing stories and amazing love.
Great conclusion to the four part series!
Kandi Steiner, you have outdone yourself with Old Fashioned! I loved everything about this book. I finally got to know the quiet, brooding older Becker brother, while revisiting the other three and it was fantastic! It was the perfect blend of small town romance with a hint of suspense (discovering what happen to their dad was intense!). This book was the perfect ending to the series and Jordan was the perfect brother to end the series with. I’m sad the series is over because I adore all of my Becker brothers (Logan and Jordan are basically tied for my favorite. I just can’t choose between the two of them!), but my heart is happy that all of them found their happily ever after.
Jordan Becker. Where do I even begin with this man? His character captured my interest from the very first book and held it throughout the entire series. I wanted to peel back his layers and find out what was going on inside that head of his. He has always been so much quieter and broodier than his brothers. I wanted to know why. And boy I was not disappointed. He was everything I had hoped for and more. He was thoughtful and kind, but at times totally brooding and stuck in his head. His love for football is palpable and so enduring to read. He loves being a football coach. He loves making a difference in these boys’ lives. He loves bringing his small town together every Friday night for game night. And he’s damn good at it too. I didn’t know that I would find a fictional football coach so attractive, but I did. Whew! I also love his relationship with his family. Jordan may be adopted and he may have a different skin color than his family, but they are his family no matter what. Neither he nor his mother or brothers see those differences. It’s honestly beautiful to read. Those four brothers can make any girl weak in the knees. I love that family unit. I also really like Jordan’s sense of justice and of what’s right and wrong. He read through his Dad’s journal with the hope of discovering what happened to him on that fateful night of the fire. He and his brothers were going to stop at nothing to find justice for their father.
Sydney Clark is a newly divorced, single mother and recent hire as an athletic trainer for Stratford’s high school. I absolutely adore Sydney’s character. She’s been through so much with her ex-husband (who’s the darn Chief of Police!) and has come out stronger because of it. I admire that she’s working in a predominately male field and doesn’t care what they think of her. She focuses on her job and is darn good at it. She doesn’t let anything else get in the way of that. She’s also an amazing mother to her nine-year-old daughter, Paige. I love that little girl. She’s spunky and full of fire. She wants to be a football player and she’s going to be amazing. Sydney protects her daughter for her ex’s darker side and does everything in her power to make the transition after the divorce easier for Paige. Her number priority is her daughter. She puts all of her wants, needs, and desires on the back burner in order to be the best possible mom for Paige. I admire the heck out of her. She’s such a beautiful character. And like Mallory said, “We are fighters, Sydney. We are warriors. Survivors.” I think that quote sums up Sydney quite well.
I absolutely adore everything about Jordan and Sydney together. The chemistry between them was on point and absolutely amazing. I enjoyed that they developed a friendship before it turned into something more. They really got to know one another before they took that final jump. It was fantastic to watch unfold. I think Jordan and Sydney are a terrific match. I absolutely adored how well Jordan and Paige got along. He listened to what Paige had to say about football and took time out of his schedule to teach her what it will mean for her to be a football player as a young girl. Jordan and Paige’s relationship was one of the many reasons I ship Jordan and Sydney so much. That man loves Paige as if she were his own. He treats her with respect, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Most men don’t want to take the time to do that. Jordan isn’t most men and I love him for it. They are an adorable family unit. I love them so much.
Overall, I rate this book a 5/5! I loved every second of Jordan and Sydney’s story. I didn’t want it to end because then there would be anything else to learn about the Becker brothers! I don’t know what to do with myself now. It was honestly the perfect ending to an amazing series. Thank you so much Kandi for writing about these fantastic brothers.
WOW what did I just read?!? This was by far my favorite book of the series. I couldn’t help but love Jordan and Sydney from the beginning. And let’s not forget Paige. These characters were so well written that I felt like I was going through it all with them. And holy cow at the plot twist! I loved how we got to see a lot of characters from the previous books. I hate that this is the end of the Becker Brothers story but Kandi did not disappoint with this last book.
Well, here we are at the very last in the Becker Brothers series, and this did not disappoint at all. While they all read as standalones, they should be read together. The mystery surrounding the Becker’s father’s death continues from book to book, and we finally solve the mystery in this one. Old Fashioned is Jordan’s book, and a new character, Sydney. Jordan is the high school football coach and Sydney just got hired as the new athletic trainer. Sydney and Jordan were both really strong, interesting and diverse characters, that were incredibly easy to love and root for. You also get to catch up with all your favorite characters from previous books in the series. The epilogue was basically the perfect little love letter to the series, giving us all the ending we so desperately wanted. This was a great series, set in a small town with amazing characters. I would highly recommend.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the last of the Becker Brothers series. I couldn’t wait to read Jordan’s story. It was swoon-worthy and irresistible.
New and in Kindle Unlimited! Old Fashioned is the final Becker Brothers book from Kandi Steiner. Read as a standalone or binge all 4 brothers now! You’ll love this angsty, small town sports romance that readers are calling “one of the best books of 2020!”
Brand new small town, sports romance from Kandi Steiner! Read for FREE in Kindle Unlimited. Can be read as a standalone, or you can binge all four brothers right now!
This has been an amazing series to read, but like all good things it sadly has come to an end. This time she gives us a wonderful love story between Jordan the oldest Becker brother, coach of the twice state champion school football team. Sydney is the new athletic trainer on the team, who has tried her best to leave her painful past behind and concentrate only on her daughter and her new career. Neither of them were looking for love but right away when they met sparks flew between them.
It was inevitable that they would fall for each other, especially with the assistance of Sydney’s daughter Paige, the sassy little girl who lives for football. Unfortunately life can be difficult, and as Sydney’s former husband who is also the police chief believes that he still owns her, his shadow is always hanging over Sydney and Jordan’s new relationship.
As well as falling in love, each of the Becker boys have been trying to solve the mystery of their Father’s death. In this finale the truth comes out, corruption runs deep in this small town and it is time to take the garbage out and some very interesting hidden secrets are revealed which means that life will never be the same especially for Jordan.
This is an excellent series and Kandi did a great job of tying up all of the loose ends and ending it on a high note.
I have been secretly waiting for Jordan story and it didnt dissapoint me. Old-Fashioned was the last chapter from the Becker’s family. Jordan and Sydney were attracted to each other like magnet.
I had flown through the book so quick. The Becker Brothers were strong mens and definetely had stolen my heart.
Old-fashioned was filling my thought with emotions and sadness.
This whole small-town vibes was complicated and secret buried within the death of John’s death.
Kandi had written the best-relationship of brotherhood.. The family bond isnt necessary by blood but with love.
It was sad emotional but the perfect ending for Beckers family. In the end, Jordan found his love.. Sydney and Paige
Very few authors do to me what Kandi does with her stories. But here I am again, hungover and sad that this series is over. How soon is too soon to reread each book?!? Never too soon? Excellent.
Since reading On The Rocks, Jordan has intrigued me. He was quiet yet exuded wisdom. He stood mostly in the background of the other books, but you felt his presence. For me, it made me yearn to know more about the eldest Becker brother. And boy did Old Fashioned deliver with that need. While you could certainly read this book by itself, I would beyond recommend you get yourself on KU right meow and read On The Rocks, Neat and Manhattan before reading Old Fashioned. So do that.
Have I said how much I loved Jordan yet? Well, it bears repeating. I love him.
Enter stage left, Sydney. I’m not sure who I loved more, Sydney or Her daughter Paige. Paige gave me major flashbacks to Hayden
pannettiere in Remember the Titans. Her obsession with football was adorable and borderline reminds me of a younger version of me! Sydney’s vulnerability and strength made me love her, and her compatibility with Jordan was spot on.
I want to so badly yell from the rooftops that this was my favorite of the series. The statement itself feels cliche. Especially given the fact that after each book I’m pretty sure I’ve said just that. This book tied up ends. It built upon the others. Delved Deeper and gave me more story of the boys I have grown to love. The entire series allowed me to fall deeper in love with the Becker boys. With the small whiskey town. So while I definitely think this book was my favorite, I also think it was just an incredible wrap up to a series I didn’t want to end.
Kandi, well done. 5.5 stars to you for another intentional story.
Old Fashioned is the conclusion to the loved Becker Brothers Series, like the previous books Old Fashioned can be read as a standalone. In Old Fashioned we finally get to see inside Jordan Becker, the oldest brother. He is the high school football coach looking for his third state championship. Sydney is the new athletic trainer for the team. The chemistry is there, but a relationship is highly frowned upon. This book ends the Becker Brothers and we finally know what happened to John Becker the drama and scandal rocks the town! I could not put this book down! Another great Kandi read!
***4.5***
WHAT an ENDING to a beautiful, lovely series! I think this might be my favorite book of the whole quartet!
Jordan really impressed me in this story… I admired his dedication to the sport of football, and I gushed over his genuine love for the kids he coached. He had so many FEELS, and you know I love a man who’s comfortable with his feelings. He was so respectful of Sydney (and we LOVE respectful, chivalrous gentlemen), but also kept it fun (wink, wink). I will admit, he was sort of the brother I forgot about in the other books. Granted, those books weren’t about him, but sometimes he’d walk into a scene and I’d catch myself thinking something along the lines of “oh yeah – hey Jordan.” But I changed my tune real quick seeing as he’s my second favorite Becker brother now! (Sorry J, the number one slot is reserved for my boy Logan.)
But my favorite heroine in the Becker Brothers series, by far, is Sydney. Wow, this woman! A pillar of strength, determination, maturity, courage, integrity, and skill, Sydney was a heroine who got shit DONE. I loved how she handled stepping into a male-dominated (read: she’s the only female) team & industry, owning her skills and quietly proving her worth. I liked how she was a woman who knew what she wanted, and was ready & willing to communicate that to Jordan. Perhaps it’s because they’re older, but the communication between them was SO much better than most couples in New Adult romances, and I appreciate it more than you know. Sydney is also a survivor of a traumatic domestically abusive marriage, and this queen is out here doing it with a daughter to raise and bills to pay. She’s witty, talented at her job, and a fabulous mom. Love you, girl.
Okay, Jordan & Sydney are all well and good, but the runaway character in this novel is, without a shadow of a doubt, Paige. Sydney’s daughter is candor embodied. Her love of football was simply adorable, and her fire/drive she gets from her Mama made her come to LIFE on the page. The scenes with her, gotta be honest, were my faves. She just adds so much FUN into the book! She’s not afraid to roast you, throws a perfect spiral, and is a kind little soul. 10 points to Paige. 🙂
There was also mixed-race representation, and I enjoyed reading about the conflicts both characters faced with their identities and who they were: not white enough, not black enough… It’s a struggle that many multitudes of people face, and I thought it added a lot of depth to this story. Additionally, Jordan coming to terms more with his adoption was a hurdle he needed to face, and I thought the way Steiner wrote that out was very realistic and true to the mixed emotions felt when grappling with two different lives.
And, of course, with the conclusion of the series comes the conclusion of the mystery surrounding their father’s death which has been teased out over the course of all 4 books. While I won’t give anything away, I will say I did not expect the ending to unfold quite the way it did, and I was on the edge of my seat during that climactic scene wanting to see them all get JUSTICE, damnit! 🙂
In the end, there’s a pretty simple Old Fashioned equation: football + spunky 8 year old + broody oldest brother vibes + resolution of a mystery = a binge-worthy romance that needs to jump on your Kindle ASAP.
I have really enjoyed the Becker Brothers series. I am a huge Kandi Steiner fan. I am sad to see this series end, I am glad we got Jordan and Sydney’s story.
Jordan is the oldest of the Becker brothers and has never cared anything about the family business. Football has always been what he’s passionate about. He loves his job as a high school football coach. He wasn’t expecting to work with someone like Sydney.
Sydney is a single mom and new employee for the football team Jordan coaches. Her daughter is adorable and loves football. Jordan is so good to Sydney’s daughter, they have a great relationship.
This was a sweet heartwarming story. Sydney and Jordan had this chemistry and the way he treated her daughter was so sweet. I have really enjoyed this series and highly recommend it.
And finally, we have Jordan’s story.
I’m sad that this series has now come to an end but Jordan has been brooding in the background waiting his turn and what a conclusion, filled with happy heart moments and twists and turns I didn’t see coming.
Jordan is the local hero, coaching the schools’ football team and is very much respected. In walks Sydney, his new ‘athletic trainer’ and although things don’t go as well when they first meet things start to change when Jordan helps Sydney’s daughter with some football practice. The more time they spend together, the closer they become. Sydney is recently divorced and still lives in fear of her ex, the towns police chief, which holds her back a little, but eventually let’s love rule her heart.
I enjoyed their story as a couple, there wasn’t a great deal of drama and you could definitely feel the love blossoming between this pair. I would say Jordan was a little tamer than his brothers though.
What I loved was the conclusion to the Scooter Fire and all the events that unfolded as the secrets came out. I was riveted and could not put the book down.
Like the other books, family is at the heart of this story. I loved the connection the brothers shared and how much they all came together for their mum. I can’t believe this series is now over but I can’t wait to see what next from Kandi who is one of my favourite authors.
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

OMG!!!!!!!!!! I can’t even begin. I have loved this series so hard. The Becker brothers have been everything. Every story has been amazing and it has all lead up to this final installment. Jordan’s story and the missing pieces of their fathers death. Again, I can’t even!!!! Kandi has completely killed me with this one. Jordan was so beautifully written but this book is so much more than just Jordan and Sydney. It’s the whole Becker family. Every character that has been introduced has been finalized in one way or another and I’m actually heartbroken. I don’t want to let go of these characters!!!!! This book and series is an absolute MUST read!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did I just read. I knew something was going to go down but damn it falls all on you lap at once and you think back like damn that town was fucking crooked as fuck. No one got out untouched in this book whether good or bad secrets all come to light.
Jordan Salomon (Coach) always felt like an outcast but he had a family who loved him even if he wasn’t a Becker. His Parents who raised him even his brothers never treated him different but he looked it. He never got into the Whiskey business like his brothers. He loved Football now he was The Coach. Now they are older and he’s still trying to find his place in the world. Coach for The Stratford High Cougars Champions. His job is teach football and Win. In a small town they are love there football.
Sydney Clark Trying to get her life back after an awful marriage and divorce. She going after her dreams even though her ex still has her on a leash .. When she starts working for Jordan as Athletic director she tried to move on for her and her daughter.
This family you cant help but love them. Its awful what happened to their dad. Im glad its all out. I’m so glad all the crooks got what they deserved. You get bits of each of them and you just love them more and more
Paige I love what she did to her dad. Kids know and they see everything..
Aaww poor Mrs Betty
Of all the Becker boys, Jordan was always the most intriguing to me. He was adopted, and different from the other boys, in that he was part black. He was the eldest of the boys, the quiet one, the reasonable one. When the younger Becker boys got rowdy, he was the one who reined them in, kept them out of trouble as much as he could. As the oldest one, he felt the pressure to hold up the Becker household the most. Even though he looked different, he never felt any different. In the heart of all in this family, he was a Becker through and through, and his brothers looked up to him. He was totally dedicated to football, but never wanted to play professionally. I think this next paragraph gives the essence of who Jordan is as a person:
“I’ve always wanted to coach, and I got started as soon as I could after high school. I wanted to make a difference — not just for our school and football, but for these boys — individually, you know? We’re in a small town, and some of these kids don’t exactly have the best role models at home. I want to be there for them to remind them what they are capable of, what they have inside them, to push them when they need to be pushed and encourage them when they need to be encouraged. And to tell them I’m proud of them,” I added. “Because I might be the only one they ever hear it from.”
In this book, we learned that he never planned to marry. The love story he witnessed in his parents was so fantastic that he thought he would never find it for his own. But then the school where he was the PE teacher and football coach hired a new athletic trainer, and it turned out to be a woman. Not just that, but the town police chief’s ex-wife. Also gorgeous as heck!
Even though Jordan got a little douchey with Sidney upfront, he eventually came to realize how professional Sydney is and how much she added to the team. And of course, he groveled after.
“They trust you because you know what you’re doing, and you prove it time and time again when you take them back for treatment. They know that if you say it’s not safe to play, it’s not. And if you say they’re going to be okay, they will be. And if you say to rest or to ice or to do therapy, they know it’s not just bullshit talk to fill the space. It’s necessary.”
Both Jordan and Sydney were singed by their chemistry when they met. Jordan decided to ignore it because he didn’t want to get involved, and Sydney because she was recently divorced. The divorce was messy and her husband conditioned signing the divorce papers to keeping his daughter in town. What the chief really wanted was to keep Sydney under his thumb and used his power to get his way.
Sydney wanted to keep it casual, but Jordan is the old fashioned style; he doesn’t do flings or one night stands. He wants to woo his lady, take her out on dates and show the world how he feels about his lady. And Sydney was afraid of her ex getting violent. Even though both were in a place where a relation was not desired, the heart and the chemistry won and they got connected.
“In that moment, I felt it — our hearts fusing together, our souls opening the door to each other’s, finding a room, making it home.”
The best part in this story is Paige, Sydney’s nine year old daughter. She’s obsessed with football and even goes so far as to counsel Jordan in all things football. She was such a perfect fit in the Becker household, she was in heaven when she shared Thanksgiving with the family. Even better when she beat Mickey in football later on!
There’s a little bit of suspense in the story due to the unravelling of John Becker’s mysterious death. There’s also the expectation of how the police chief will react when he learns about Sydney and Jordan. Let me just say that there’s drama and plot twists and surprises galore!
I breezed through this book because it was just so lovely. I loved Jordan and Sydney and their story, they are such outstanding characters. They fit together so seamlessly, both loving sports and proud of what they do, with a little girl who is obsessed with football, just like Jordan. They each enriched each other’s lives. I loved reading the snippets of the other Becker boys and their girlfriends. And loved how it all ended, once all the plot lines got sorted out. The image of the Becker boys dancing Wonderful Tonight with their mother is an image that will stay with me. Such devotion and heartfelt love for each other! It truly was a warm hearted series and it will remain one of my favorites ever!
