Darryl is on a quest for peace. His chance at fatherhood was taken from him long ago, and an IED in Iraq ensured he’d never get another. In Big Falls, the McIntyre brothers hire him to keep an eye on their beautiful cousin Sophie in case her criminal ex shows up. He doesn’t expect to fall head over heels.Sophie McIntyre’s life was blown apart by a drug dealing ex who cost her her job and nearly … and nearly her medical license. She comes to Big Falls because she has nowhere else to go. And the minute she gets there, things start to get better.
Is it because of that letter to Santa her Aunt Vidalia convinced her to write?
Within days she meets a beautiful man with a deeply wounded soul. And oddly, she finds herself giving him the same advice the town Santa gave to her—try believing again, and if it’s too much to believe, then just try hoping.
Love, magic, and miracles ensue.
Because this is Big Falls, Oklahoma. Miracles are an everyday occurrence around here. Especially at Christmastime.

Great Christmas book!
This was a book I couldn’t put down. Read in one sitting.
Same story but well written
A young doctor ran from a druggie ex fiance to relation in Oklahoma. She discovered that believing and miracles brought love.
Enjoyed this story very much.
Sophie McIntyre is staying in Big Falls, Oklahoma with her family while she waits to find out if she will be charged and lose her medical license for what her criminal ex-boyfriend did. Darryl Champlain has been hired by the McIntyre brothers to keep an eye on Sophia just incase her ex does track her down. A Christmas miracle gives both of them the wishes they never thought they could have.
Sophie and Darryl are instantly attracted to each other and decided to have a few weeks of fun while they both are in Big Falls. Feelings quickly develop between them though but they each have to work through past issues before they can trust again. They both realize they may have found a new life in Big Falls and realizes they don’t want to go back to their old lives. With some helpful advice from Santa Clause and a Christmas miracle they both get the life they never thought they would have.
I quite enjoyed this quick Christmas story. I liked both of them a lot and could see how the Christmas spirit would help them heal. They both had a lot of emotional baggage they had to work through before they could trust each other. This was a great start for a new series and I would be interested in seeing the rest of the McIntyre boys fall in love.
Didn’t keep my interest
Sweet, short story.
Good light reading before Christmas.
I’ve been a Maggie Shayne fan for years. She writes across the genres and always well. This is a cute, romantic novella. it’s easy and fun. Well-meaning cousins, a bodyguard, and Santa! What more to you needs. Miracles happen…

This is a well-written, sweet, magical Christmas romance novel with likable, engaging characters and a heartwarming, happily ever after ending. I am looking forward to reading the other entries in Ms. Shayne’s “McIntyre Men” series.
This was a quick read. Finished it in an afternoon. I’m a Maggie Shayne fan, but this wasn’t one of my favorites of hers. Won’t stop me from reading her work in the future, but a little bit of a disappointment for me.
I’d probably like to read this one every Christmas. Heartwarming.
Came up again this year. Did not recall it at all. Yep. I agree. This is an every Christmas story to read. Would make a sweet short movie.
