This pot of gold could hold more than they bargained for… Grand. Just grand. Clara Donovan’s failure to keep her brother from going off the rails—again—is a public spectacle. Including a handsome stranger who puts down his guitar case to help her talk Seamus down from Farthing’s tallest bridge.Everything about Danny Brady reminds Clara how many times she swore she’ll never again be that … she’ll never again be that pathetic, weak woman who got taken in by a good-looking man. Especially when, the next day, she walks into a new coffee shop in her little Irish town and discovers Danny’s secret.
Danny didn’t lie—technically—about his coffee shop chain. He’s just tired of women going after him for his wealth. Clara is a graceful, fiercely loyal, non-Irish Irish damsel in distress, a combination that tugs at his heart. A heart that’s spent its share of time in pieces.
Danny has never hesitated to go after what he wants, but melting Clara’s defenses will take more than hot tea and charm. He’ll have to prove he’s made of stronger stuff—even when her past threatens to tear her carefully reconstructed world to shreds.

Oh Danny Boy by Josie Riviera
This book starts out with praise for the author’s writings.
Book starts out in Ireland and her brother Seammus is on the bridge, about to jump and probably drunk as he’s griefing still over the death of his wife.
A man will go with her to stop him as they climb the rusty bridge.
Clara tries to console him, the guitarist behind her supports her…
Danny Brady is the one that helps them down off the bridge as the news reporters are there to film it, their whole lives on the screen…
Over tea they talk about his coffee shop and finds out about the scones she bakes-thinking he could make a profit at his shops selling them…he needs to buy her recipe, they are that good!
They start seeing one another and Danny actually hires her brother to work for him. Some things are missing, along with money, a cyber crime upon Danny and her new jewelry from her birthday party.
She starts putting things together and just knows her brother is to blame for it all, or could it be her ex boyfriend who’s out of jail now and has been harassing her…
Fear and scary situations but also loving, caring ones also. Love the locale and travel
Especially love his other gift that he gives her, what a true sign of love.
Note and scone recipe from the author are included at the end.
Other works from the author and about the author are highlighted at the end
Excerpt from Maeve is included.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
It wasn`t very wise for Danny to not be totally honest about himself, he isn’t just a guitar player but the owner of a big coffee chain. But when he met Clara, when he helped saving her brother from a suicide attempt, he was drawn to her and wanted her to be attracted to him just for him not his wealth.
They both had troubled pasts and trusting someone isn’t natural. Can Clara learn to trust Danny, and what will happen with her brother? What is more important for Danny his business of his love for Carla?
I really loved this book. It’s an entertaining story about overcoming your past, trusting again, family and finding love.
I give this 4 stars overall since I don’t think it was badly written but just 3 stars for my own personal enjoyment. I had a hard time relating to the characters for which I am thankful. I have never been in a position of an abusive relationship, neglectful parents, alcoholism/drug use, jail time, thieving and so forth. I couldn’t decide if I would react to situations as they did if I were in their shoes. I would think that after being in the abusive relationship Clara wouldn’t be so optimistic especially about her brother. I think she would be more skeptical about people in general. But I’ve never been there so maybe her natural positive personality would override the scars from her past. I don’t know.
I liked Clara and Danny I just couldn’t personally relate to them. I’m glad they started figuring out how to have a happily ever after. And that Clara’s siblings seemed to be making more of their lives by the end as well. It seemed that all the main characters had had difficult lives. Maybe that was part of the attraction to each other.
The book deals with difficult subject matter. There is alcoholism, physical abuse, emotional abuse, manipulation, neglect, gamboling addiction, theft etc… Some of these things had happened in the past but some are part of the story time frame. Because of these things much of the book felt darker than just fluff romance. (Part of my enjoyment problem was that I’d rather read fluff than dark).
I think others would enjoy this book more than I did. It just wasn’t to my tastes. So give it a go.
Sex: innuendo, passionate kisses
Language: a little
Violence: physical abuse toward a woman, (and a car).
This is a lovely story. I was excited to listen to this because who doesn’t live a good Irish story. The beginning was great. Then it slowed down a bit. The characters seemed very real. They each have a bit to overcome before they can move forward. It’s so nice to see this slow clean romance.
I did listen to this on audio. Jodie Kearns is the narrator. Listening is a bit of a struggle. I feel like she is speaking through a tube. I really wanted to enjoy listening to the Irish brogue and this did Interfere with my pleasure of this. Other than that she did a good job.
A chance meeting when Clara goes to rescue her brother, Seamus, and Danny shows up to assist her in a small Irish town.
This book was very good, but the storyline was way different than than I expected. Josie has dealt with adoption, alcoholism, gamblers, suicide, theft, abuse, and codependency. Great to read about an Intervention session to help Seamus.
Read to find out how all their lives work out.
This book was fantastic. For me, it has the “it” factor. There were difficult subjects that were apart of the story, but it didn’t take away from the brilliant relationship between Clara and Danny. I would absolutely love a second book with their up coming adventures!
Fabulous story!
Clara Donovan is determined to be strong and independent after all that she’s experienced in her past. So, when her brother attempts suicide, she’s convinced that she can help him. However, she’s not prepared for the kindness and gentleness of a wealthy businessman to get past her walls.
Danny Brady is not looking for romance. He’s simply in town to open a new location for his coffee shop empire that he’s building. But, when he sees the dedication and determination in Clara to help her family, he can’t help but admire her. Yet, will that loyalty turn against their chance for happiness?
This story is like two stories in one. On the surface you have the developing relationship between Clara and Danny. Mingled with it is the story of Clara’s brother, Seamus, who suffers from addictions. As if that’s not enough, the author delves into the emotions and thoughts of someone who’s experienced an abusive relationship.
The setting is obviously in Ireland, but I was impressed by how well the author integrated the Irish mannerisms and speech in the story. It’s obvious that she’s spent plenty of time in Ireland to peg so many expressions and slang.
Themes – addictions, depression, abusive relationships, forgiveness, money / wealth, business growth
Trigger warnings – attempted suicide
Romance – PG – kissing
Language – PG – mild cursing
My rating – 5 stars
