This contemporary sports romance is the first full-length book in the Between the Lines series. The characters are well developed, interesting and engaging. They are far from perfect but are more realistic with strengths and faults. Both have things that have hurt them, her with the past. broken heart and him with a potential career ending injury. The dialogue and narrative are well done. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly, filled emotional drama and tender romantic moments. This is a well written and interesting story. I hope to read more about these characters in the future.

Offsides is a sports romance that features features two beautifully broken characters who find love. I adored Mirek and found him to be the perfect book boyfriend. An injured hockey player, he is struggling to return to the sport that he loves. He is that perfect combination of sexy and sweet. I love how patient and understanding he is with Brie as she tries to overcome her previous heartbreak. Brie is a strong character in that that she lost everything, but still tries to move forward and pick up the tattered pieces of her heart and start over with her career. The two of them together make a great couple and I enjoyed watching their romance develop as well as watch the two of them grow individually as characters. This is a quick read that is relatively low on drama and has very likable, well developed characters.
Wonderful hockey romance. Excellent main characters and good supporting characters. Lots of chemistry and passion!

The first book in the series Between the Lines, this is a new author to me and I will be watching to see when she has more books out. Breanna O’Donnell and Hockey player Mirek Sztasko will have so much to get through before they get their happy ending. One of the items is Jesse Mitchell he ex boyfriend and what he did to her when they split up. I would like to know more about Jesse and if he gets his own story. In a way it seems like this story is going to be continued as some questions are left unanswered. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Brie needs a new life after heartbreak and business issues, so she heads to Sweden with her friend Kell. Mirek has injured his knee, facing concerns that his hockey career may be over. They become friends, as he patiently waits for her to be ready for more, to move the relationship forward. They make their way through his surgery, their new relationship, a pregnancy, and ghosts from the past. I love this book – very low-key with not a lot of drama or action. It was a very sweet story of two broken people falling in love and helping each other heal. Can’t wait for more in the series.

Lizzie A. Williamson has a game-winner with OFFSIDES (Between the Lines, #1). In this story, Breanna O’Donnell moves to Uppsala, Sweden to get a fresh start after a bad break up. She meets injured hockey player, Mirek Sztasko. The two help each other heal. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
I liked Mirek’s character. He is worried that his injury will jeopardize his career. He is lonely because he is not around his teammates as much due to his injury. I felt bad for Breanna and the things she went through. I appreciated that she decides to move to obtain a new beginning. I like that she recognizes the similarities between Mirek and her twin brother, Finn, and understood how to react to his control issues.
I enjoyed the story. However, I felt it dragged a bit. I like that the characters grow and resolve their issues. Lizzie A. Williamson does a good job depicting cultural differences. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances that take place in Europe. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Great characters, nice story line, and a good romantic read. It’s an even better book when characters in the story have great chemistry and these characters have just that. Be sure to add this book to your reading list.
