Dean doesn’t do love. But he does do women.Lots of women.Until Beth piques his interest and distracts him from his A-grade player ways. She’s sexy, smart, and sassy as hell. She’s also an employee and entirely off limits.Supposedly.***Beth doesn’t break rules. But she does daydream about it.All the damn time. And Dean Sutherland is the biggest rule she shouldn’t break.Luckily, she’s not that kind of … time.
And Dean Sutherland is the biggest rule she shouldn’t break.
Luckily, she’s not that kind of girl.
Usually.
So why is she sliding her drunk ass into his car, accepting a ride home?
Why is she inviting him in for “coffee”?
Beth doesn’t break rules.
Nope. Never.
Not until now.

Office Player captured my attention in the first few pages and didn’t let up until I hit The End.
Beth is in a predicament at work, and the only one that notices is the one she doesn’t want to see. Dean is the bosses son. He’s been attracted to Beth since she started, but he didn’t realize she was hiding so much.
Overall, Office Player was a great office romance. It hit on topics so many women face, while still able to be an escape for the reader looking for that. It was paced evenly, and I couldn’t put it down I got so involved in Beth and Dean’s story. I would recommend to the reader looking for a strong woman getting back on her feet and a sexy man determined to help her.
Beth and Dean took me on a crazy roller coaster ride. They have a great chemistry but working together has kept them apart. Beth also doesn’t want to be another notch on Dean’s bedpost with his playboy reputation. Now, Dean is a player but he’s given up on love not having the best example to follow. He is surprised by Beth when he meets her but doesn’t feel worthy of her. Beth has a very bad day and too many drinks and well, we get amazing sparks with their incredible sexy connection. The challenge, will these two open up their hearts and let something spectacular happen? Or will they let their fears and insecurities trap their hearts? These two kept me guessing and Dean’s father, Max, well, he is just a jerk. Loved Angela, Beth’s best friend, and her tough love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Amazing…
Wonderfully written and wonderful characters!
I have read many Eden Summers books and I must say that Office Player is my new favorite. It flowed really well and kept you flipping the pages, because you had to see what happened between them next. People have experiences that mold them early in life and it defines how they handle situations as adults. Misunderstandings happen and sometimes it hard for everyone to see what is truly happening. It didn’t hurt that I loved both Dean and Beth.
I am going to keep this review simple, because I don’t want to give anything away about their story. Just know that this is a wonderful romance journey that you shouldn’t miss out on.
This ARC was received from the author for an honest review.
*This book was originally released under the title Concealed Desire.*
Sigh… I am not a big one for covers, but I can’t help looking at this one on my kindle.
And what is inside is just as good!
Dean and Beth’s kinda-sorta second chance office romance is steamy, sensual and just plain ol’ good to read.
There is so much tension between this pair that you can cut it with a knife. They have adored each other across the office for a long time, so you know that things are going to be hot hot hot when they finally figure their stuff out!
What I love love love is that as Aussie author has set her book in Australia – woohoo! But that’s probably just my little thing.
So much goes on in this beautiful story. It is hot. It is heartbreaking. It is a little bit of everything. And I am kicking myself for not having read it when it was originally released (and I know that is has been sitting on my kindle all that time).
There is plenty of sexy banter and witty one liners between our lovelies. Dean is alpha but not OTT alpha. Both Beth and Dean do some stupid sh!t at times and I want to slap some sense into them, but I couldn’t help but adore them.
I laughed, I cried, I smiled. Office Player had a bit of it all.
this is a nice easy to read romance, it doesn’t have the same action packed feel that other eden summers books have (maybe because it one of her early books) but its well worth a read, if your looking for a simple romance, filled with misunderstandings and clear attraction, the characters are lovely but deeply insecure,

I have already commented on the big allure of a sexy covers. The I-could-lick-this-cover-and-have-zero-shame-about-it effect is very strong with this one and the main reason I picked the book. Being completely honest, I didn’t even read the blurb. Can you blame me? If so, take a look at the top of this post and come back here. Not so many covers in the Romance genre scream so loudly the word HOT. From the genes of the guy, to the nice pose captured by the photograph and the tasteful editing of the cover artist. Perfect cover for not such a perfect book… Call me mood killer!!
In this story we meet Beth, a hard working woman who is living her dreams professionally speaking. At least it was like that until the big boss makes her an indecent proposition: being his arm candy (and I guess bed candy, too). Beth can’t believe what she has been asked, but in an attempt to not lose her job, she decides to spend the weekend thinking about the best way to turn down the proposal. Dean, the son of the big boss and a boss himself, has other plans for her. The womanizer has been dreaming about her since the moment they met and he can’t wait any longer to get between the sheets of Beth’s bed. Will their attraction get over Dean’s past or are they doomed as a couple?
I feel a bit cheated with the story of this book. It looked like a taboo love story, where they have to hide their love life from the company in order to keep their jobs; but there is nothing about it. It also looked like the classic hard-to-get woman who resists with all her might the unrelenting charms of the sexy guy who is not used to a negative answer. But they were already friends and had a cordial relationship. So, what kind of dynamic are we going to find? Nothing specific, actually. It’s just the let’s-scratch-an-itch-and-see-what-happens kind of dance. I’m not against that kind of story, but I was expecting something more fun. I wish the book had some of that banter they claim to share. It would have improved the ejoyment quite a lot.
What we are told happens in three clear stages: the get togehter, the fight and the make up. None of them hold much that it is worth mentioning beyond the “It’s OK” description. From that first stage I would point out the good sexual scenes that take place (several in a short period of time). This book even has one of the most erotic naughty excerpt I have read in a very long time: the shower scene. Masterfully written. I could feel the water, the coldness of the glass and the pants of Dean while I was reading. I must bow before the author and compliment her on a job well done (Dean would also bow if he could trust his knees). From the second stage I’m going to mention the annoyed I felt with the fight. At least let the guy explain before judging him for all eternity. Talking makes wonders. And for the last stage… I love how the last chapter ends; but I hate with all my heart the epilogue. It ruins the good aftertaste I had. Three months is not enough time to put the characters in the classic ending I dislike so much…
The characters won’t get on any of my lists. Beth is too insecure to really enjoy a relationship with someone like Dean. She lives too much in her head and prefers to make her own assumptions instead of listening to the truth. I don’t like the way she dismisses Angela, her good friend, as if she were just a noisy neighbour. She is constantly jelous and have little self-respect. Keeping her job shouldn’t be such a big priority in the situation Beth is… And Dean… I don’t know. We are told many traits about him, but we see little proof about them. I’m actually having a hard time believing his decision to stick to just one woman. He should be more clear abiout it instead of rejecting sexual propositions in such a flirty way. No wonder Beth always thinks the worst!! Besides, what kind of aftershave does this guy use? Beth is able to smell it even when Dean has been days without getting a shave. Please, let me know. I need to avoid that smelly brand at all costs…
I need to finish this review starting a campaign to ask for a book… hell, a whole saga for the true diamond of this story. To the character who has robbed my heart and made me smile in the little time he has to shine. I’m talking about that masterpiece whose talent is wasted in the delivery industry. The guy that delivers the flowers to Beth is a show stealer and by far the most charismatic element of this story.
Another wonderful story from Eden Summers
Office Player is a bit off the beaten path for Ms. Summers, but by no means any less read worthy.
There is some serious topic discussion in the story involving sexual harassment.
Dean & Beth’s story is fabulously written with just the right amount of steam and some great twists to the plot.
It’s always fun to read about the ultimate player finally falling for the one!
This Player played-her right in the palm of his hand
Or so he wished! Dean had to work for everything for the first time in his life. Fortunately, his work was worth the effort.
Office Player is a sexy and frustrating workplace romance. The urge to shove arrogant jerks will be strong however please refrain from acts of violence. Fragile egos can’t take the crushing blows!
All kidding aside, Dean is the best kind of surprise. He is a diamond in the rough. Too bad miscommunication, misconceptions, and misjudgments get in the way of Beth seeing him for who he truly is.
Good thing about this romance though is it has a happily ever after vibe.
It’s a fun and sexy read. It will keep you entertained as it has you feeling all sorts of emotions. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters. I enjoyed the connection and banter. The chemistry is sizzling and steamy. Overall an entertaining and enjoyable read.
*3.5 stars*
Mixed feelings about this one – on one hand I really liked a lot about it! Great chemistry between the characters and the writing was really good too. The characters for sure came alive, whether you liked what they were all about or not. However I did really like both characters although there were times I wanted to just force them in a room to talk things out. They both appear confident but both also suffer from the same lack of confidence when it comes to relationships and give up on things at different times. This starts out as an office romance and then the ‘office’ part of the story kinda fizzles out. There was also part of the storyline involving Dean’s father that I thought sort of was left without a thorough explanation.
I would say though that if you enjoy a hot, ‘watching each other from afar and finally decide to go for it’ romance then you should definitely give this one a try!
