There is only one thing standing between Blair and the girl of his dreams. His mom. It used to be easy for Blair Howell to get a date. He had a new girlfriend every couple of weeks. Until his mom became principal at his high school. Now girls don’t give him a second glance. Not with his mother hovering over him like a pinstripe-clad overlord. Then Blair met Sandra. But with her spiked bracelets … overlord.
Then Blair met Sandra. But with her spiked bracelets and Day of the Dead t-shirts, his mom would run Sandra off before she ever made it through the front door.
There was only one solution.
Make sure his mom never found out.

A well written book with an interesting story line. The characters are strong and the story flows quickly and smoothly. I enjoyed reading this story.
Never judge a girl by her spikes!
Amanda and Gracie have dreamy new relationships and want the same for Sandra, but she is content with her new job in the library. Besides, the boy that she really likes is the principal’s son and she is always ready to believe the worst about Sandra because of her spiked wristbands and Day of the Dead clothes. Principal Howell would never accept Blair dating a “goth” girl.
Blair is a star athlete and a real hottie but his mom has scared off every girl he has dated in the past. His best friend, Cameron, is pushing him to ask Sandra to the Valentine’s Day dance and he really would like to, but whenever he seriously thinks about it he breaks out in hives and nervous sweat. Plus, she hasn’t been back to school since his mom accused her of cheating on a test so he would have to find a way to ask her at the library. It’s hard to look suave when you are itching!
This is the third book I have read in this series and I like the interactions between all the characters. All the teens from the previous books are in the story and the book gives a good picture of the issues that teens can face in high school. This is a great series.
Crazy Principal
I’m kinda conflicted. I liked the story, but I can’t get past how overbearing and just plain WRONG Blair’s mom is for most of the book.
If I were Sandra I would have reported her to the district office. There’s being concerned, and then there is just plain being a bigoted jerk. I think we needed to see her change for it to be believable. I understand the author was trying to add weight to Sandra’s shock when things instantly change, but personally, I think there were amends to be made. The cheating accusation and the F, on a perfect test needed to be corrected in the text. Sandra needed to work through her resentment and forgive, also. Everything happened too fast.
That aside, I still liked it.
Sandra had just got a job working at the town library after school. She liked to wear Day of the Dead paraphernalia because it helped her deal with her brothers death.Blair was the principals son. He had a crush on Sandra. When she got accused of cheating on a test and quit school he finally asked her to go to the Valentine Dance with him. The dating ins and outs they went through were fun and tortuous but worth it in the end.

Amanda and Gracie, Sandra Calavera’s best friends, have boyfriends this year to take them to the high school’s Valentine’s Day dance that the friends had traditionally skipped in the past. Sandra still didn’t have a date and wasn’t likely to find one. But Amanda’s boyfriend, Cameron, suggested Sandra go with his best friend – Blair! As popular, handsome, and athletic as Blair was, she knew it could only be a pity date and she would not enjoy that. She asked why it was so important to her friends, and after a long silence, Amanda blurted that Blair needed this as much as Sandra did! Apparently being the principal’s son stifled dating opportunities.
Cameron called Blair and asked him about inviting Sandra to the dance. He knew Amanda had put him up to it. But Sandra is the one he really wanted to ask anyway. She scared him a little, but she was smart and talented and he liked her. His mother, however, did not. She objected to the skull t-shirts and spiked wristbands; she had already falsely accused her of cheating on a test just because she fell asleep on her desk and the teacher thought she was looking at someone else’s paper!
Sandra had avoided school for 5 days now, still not ready to face her teacher Mr. Lindley and Principal Howell over the “F” she unfairly received. When Blair’s project partner told him Sandra had dropped out of school, he finally got up enough nerve to go talk to her. Then he talked to his mom who called Sandra to come in for a meeting the next day. Things did not go well, but Sandra ended it by saying Blair would be asking her to the dance – and she intended to go. The surprise was hers, though, when Blair knocked on her door and asked her to the dance! What way would this go now? Everyone knew what was at stake. Would Mrs. Howell forbid him to go? Would she think about it and this time listen to what Sandra had to say about the “cheating” accusation? Or would Blair and Sandra go to the dance with the one they had wanted to be with from the start?
This was a really good story pointing to an obvious issue for adults as well as anyone who chooses to be different. Sandra had a reason for celebrating Day of the Dead – a life-affirming statement that related to her young brother. It did not label her a “goth”. And how she dressed should not have impacted the principal’s judgment based solely on her own misconceptions. Would Blair and Sandra show by example that clothes and a spiked wristband shouldn’t label a person? A top student should not be called a cheater, the truth being ignored, simply because she doesn’t conform to perceived expectations. Will something positive come from this entire incident?
This seems like a teenager book but there are lessons for adults to learn too. 1: Don’t judge a person by what they wear. That’s what the principal had to learn about Sandra. 2: Be willing to change if it would help your situation. Sandra had to learn she could change her looks without giving up her convictions. This is a good book for all ages to read. Keep your mind open & see what you learn from it.

Sandra is a great student that is in her senior year of high school. She has a bad reputation because people misjudge what her clothing says about her. She is head over heels for a guy named Blair. He is the principals son so a lot of girls wont give him the time of day. They are afraid he will snitch to his mother about things that are going on.
Sandra got a job at the local library. She had seen Blain there a few times with another girl. This made her jealous. She wanted him for herself. Blain was just there working on a project for school or so he said. Truth was he wanted to ask Sandra to the valentines day dance.
Will Sandra get her guy or will his mom stop it from happening?

The book is a good teen and young adult romance read. The story is the fourth book in the Off Limits series but can be read as a standalone read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. The story is an enjoyable clean high school romance read.

Clean High School Romance
This story is about two high school seniors falling in love. He is a star athlete and she is very smart and pretty non-traditional. The problem is his mom is their high school principal who is not liking their relationship very much. It is a good story that includes characters from the other books but stands alone. The story is very realistic while being sweet and clean. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
This is my favorite of the Off Limits series. Sandra is an 18 year old senior in high school that I could relate to. She marches to the beat of her own drum, and her first job is in a library – complete with a wise librarian. When her friends try to line her up with the Principal’s son, and she already likes him, they’re in for quite an adventure trying to keep their dating from his mom. I couldn’t put it down.

I reallyreally liked this one! Especially Sandra and Blair, who made it so very easy for me to root for them. I appreciated that neither of them is perfect and that they own their flaws and foibles, turtles and all… 🙂
More, please!
I thoroughly enjoy Kat’s writing. This was a fun read and I look forward to reading more from Kat. It was definitely a difficult book to put down.
