When Thomas Khatt awakens to the magical world following the sudden, violent death of his elderly Archmagus neighbor, he doesn’t get the standard package of awesome power combined with a hero destiny. Nope, he trades his thumbs in for a tail, tawny fur and four feet with a very low co-efficient of friction on linoleum. His destiny as one of three talking mountain lions in the magical world? To … To be sold at auction and bonded to some pimply faced apprentice for life. Thomas would rather eat dirty kitty litter.
Armed only with an impressive set of chompers and buckets of snark, Thomas faces off against a lightning-bolt throwing granny and a sexy union recruiter as he desperately tries to hold the threads of his old life together. To stay off the leash he’ll have to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Archmagus’ death and help the local Inquisition solve his murder. A pyromanic squirrel, religious werewolves, and cat-hating cops all add to the chaos as Thomas attempts to become the first Freelance Familiar.

This book kept me entertained from the very first page.
If you like imagination, magic & action, this book is for you; I don’t want to say too much & give away some of the best revelations, but I would even read this again as it’s one of those books you may miss a lot of the subtleties the first time around. Definately requires your full attention when reading.
I could not finish it. I tried to push through but there was something about it that just bugged me.
Was a different twist on shape changing. Really enjoyed it Will get the next one to read.
I did not really like the story. the premise was not setup well, and the character building was weak. I would not recommend
Quite a fun story with well developed characters.
Not as good as I thought it would be. It was slow and could not keep me interested.
This is the first book I’ve read about “changling’s,” took me a little while to get into but I did enjoy it once it got going.
Not my cup of tea…
A man is turned into a tiger and becomes a familiar for a witch the story goes down hill from there.
A little too much graphic erotica for my tastes. Story drags a bit.
Had some slow spots but overall held my attention.
Took me a while to get into this book, bit once I did it is a rollicking ride.
An enjoyable summer read for those who enjoy wandering from reality.
Interesting premise. Good story.
good book different approach, liked it
This is very much a young reader’s book, a young adult who becomes a mountain lion, almost accidentally, only to find he’s in a very regimented society of human/animals & their owners. A bit silly
The idea behind this book was very intriguing, but the book was bogged down by so much detailing. It made reading it harder and less enjoyable. At times it just went on for a couple pages just giving minute detail about things that didn’t seem that significant. I’m sorry, but I don’t think I would recommend it.
Fascinating premise. Would have given it a higher rating if it hadn’t included a few f bombs.
Interesting. I read the next one also but not sure I will pursue series
