Archer Hamilton is a collector of rare and beautiful insects. Gina Shaw is a servant in his uncle’s house. Clearly out of place in the position in which she has been discovered, she becomes a source of fascination . . . and curiosity.A girl with a blighted past and a fortune she deems a curse, Gina has lowered herself in order to find escape from her family and their scheming designs. But when … But when she is found, the stakes suddenly become dire.
All Gina wants is the freedom to live her life as she would wish. All her aunts want is the money that comes with her. But there is more than one way to trap an insect. An arranged marriage might turn out profitable for more parties than one.
Mr. Hamilton is about to make the acquisition of a lifetime. But will the price be worth it? Can a woman captured and acquired learn to love the man who has bought her?

As I delve into this book, it so far holds my interest about a quarter of the way through but that could change so I wanted to put down what I do like about it so far:
Reading between the lines, one cannot help but notice and appreciate some of the values that come across. Just because one chooses a life in a job of servitude does not mean they …
An arranged marriage starts poorly after a woman with a past is too afraid to trust the right people. So much unhappiness throughout the book it was a relief when Imogen has Claire come to visit and help out. They laugh and smile making the story lighter. Good read but I had to start and stop rather than read straight through.
Too wordy and too slow. At times I thought it would never end. The characters took forever to develope, and kept making the same silly mistakes over and over.
Slow going at first, but I became more invested in the characters the longer the book went on. A little hard to identify with them, due to their Victorian attitudes, but that just can’t be helped. Many times I found myself saying “Well, just kiss her then!” but in those days you just didn’t do that. Rather entertaining book, though, after all …
This book was painfully slow, and most of the characters deserved a good slap!
Ugh
A little slow. But a good book
This book was simply too long, which would have been okay if the author wouldn’t have just rehashing the same angst-filled plot details. I finally skipped about 200 of the 600 pages and just read the final chapter. The book needed a good editor.
The characters did not seem real to me.
immediate attention grabber BUT iin Part 2 story seemed to drag…..good character development; different plot……kept me reading!
This book was an easy read that was true to the era that is written about
It was not my cup of tea.
Extremely slow development of plot…almost depressing at times to read!
Time for a cup of tea and relax in a make believe world
It took me a little while to get into it, but once I did it waa very good.
I found this twisted plot difficult to follow .The problems each had kept being hinted at. Found myself skipping pages to get to the end .
Yawn
I enjoyed this book very
Mich
This book kept me on edge trying to figure out the antagonist and his/her motive.
Went on way too long. But I persevered.
