This is the second book of a trilogy. It really moves the story forward. The first book, Year One, was a little shocking compared to other Nora Roberts books. When I read it for the second time I enjoyed it much more. Can’t wait for the next book.
If she’s The One, the world may be safe after all. I loved Fallon Swift and I loved this book. A 5 Star YA fantasy read.
Of Blood and Bone Book 2 in the Chronicles of The One was an exceptional read. I loved watching the girl learn to be a warrior and leader. Looking forward to more of this saga.
Incredible! Intense, edge of your seat read. This second book to the series, was hard to put down. So many great new characters to follow. I absolutley loved this book and I am looking forward to the third book.
Roberts is always an amazing read
Great second book in Nora Robert’s “The One” trilogy. I like the mix of fantasy and reality in this series. There’s just enough believability to keep me coming back for more. Great character development once again, even in the secondary characters. I’m really enjoying this trilogy and can’t wait to find out if Fallon Swift saves the world!
You can’t go wrong with Nora Roberts’ books! I don’t know how she does it over & over again!
An interesting fantasy, where cities have been abandoned people are dead from an illness called the Doom. Gangs called the Raiders and Fanatics called the Purity Warriors are in search for victims and people who are in possession of special gifts. Fallon Swift is one of these people with a gift and has been trained to fight to save others and possibly the world.
This is a cliffhanger and the 2nd book, the first being Year One.
Nora is still at her best! Really like this series and can’t wait for the finale!
I find this trilogy fascinating and can hardly wait for the last installment. Roberts twining of story and morality is haunting and inspiring and depressing at the same time. Though the magical aspect is not reality, the possibilities are painfully reflective of today.
After reading Year One, I couldn’t wait for the second book to come out. Nora Roberts never disappoints. A great read, looking forward to book 3.
What is there not to like about Nora Roberts, other than you have to wait for the third book in the series. This book is a nail biting page turner, just like all the rest. Her combination of romance and humanity with witchcraft and people with hidden powers is amazing as always. Her female characters are always so powerful, and yet filled with empathy as well.
Not as good as the first one
This series is one of her best! Kept me guessing
The second in the series is a great read. I waited a year for it and it didn’t disappoint. I like the characters. It’s a twist between dystopian and preternatural. Nora! Hurry book three!!
Can not wait for #3
This is a typical Nora Roberts book, Part two. After waiting a year to read this sequel to Year One, I felt a little lost. Like the Hunger Games, this series is beginning to feel like an enormous, 2000 page book that’s been carefully divided into three must-read parts, to be sold for $30 each. I would recommend revisiting the first book, because it was difficult to keep track of so many related characters. The main character, a teen-aged girl, was well written, especially her growth and maturity over 2 years of training. But then it seemed she’d adopted the same attitude pattern displayed in various forms by all the older women (friends & family) in the book. In fact, many Nora Roberts’ female lead characters seem to have the same type of voice/attitude/character. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to BOOK Three.
I loved this book.
Second in series, I read the first book a few months ago and devoured it, and this one was just as good as the last.
It has the same format of following multiple different characters and locales, but the main focus is on Fallon Swift, the child born that was prophesied to save the world and deliver it from the darkness that has taken hold since the Doom killed off billions of the world’s population. Fallon is a Magick, and she must leave on her 13th birthday to spend 2 years in training with a great sorcerer to be ready for her great task when the time is right.
The characters in this series, whether human, magick, or even animal, are so real and either likable or loathsome, depending on which side they stand on. I liked that we got to actually see the time Fallon spent with Malek (possible misspelling – I listened to the audio book) instead of following other story lines during that time because I felt like there was so much of her not just learning how to fight or how to spell cast, but of how she grew into her role and how she earned the loyalties of key characters. I felt like her earning these loyalties and the way she did, was so important and really earned my respect for her integrity.
While this book did follow a 13 year old, it didn’t feel too YA for me. We still got to follow Lana, Simon, Arliss, Eddie, and the other folks in New Hope, plus some others, but it was more like how the next generation was coming up and stepping into their roles as part of this greater society of the good side. Even the younger generation of kids were doing their part, going out on raids to rescue people, learning their trades as healers, and whatnot.
Another 5 stars from me for keeping me excited to turn every page and keeping me wanting to know what happens next, wanting to get to know each character and what they bring to the table, and rooting for the good guys to get their foothold and fight the good fight to keep the evil at bay.
It feels like things are really ramping up for the next and final book, and I’ve already hit preorder for that one. Come on, November!
Can’t wait for the final installment. Couldn’t put it down!
Second in a series and better than the first, which was good!
