The first book in a Curse Keepers spinoff series by New York Times bestselling author Denise Grover Swank writing as D.G. Swank.Piper Lancaster might be Asheville’s most popular ghost whisperer, but she’s an unbeliever. While her clients believe she’s exorcising their ghosts, Piper knows she’s really helping them settle their inner demons—because any sane person knows ghosts aren’t real. After … real.
After the astonishing reappearance of the ruins of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, belief in the supernatural is at an all-time high, and people are seeing ghosts in every shadow. Business is better than ever. But there’s one problem—the reemergence of the Lost Colony has awakened both the supernatural world and Piper’s very real talent as a medium.
She’s soon confronted with evidence she can’t deny. Ghosts exist, and worse, so do demons. As if that weren’t enough, Asheville has a new resident demon that’s intent on killing her, and a sinfully handsome stranger who says she’s the only one who can destroy it.
Barely able to accept the complete reversal in her convictions, Piper must discover-and embrace—her true identity before it’s too late.

Loved it!
An unexpected end, and a good read. I stayed up really late to finish it.
I absolutely loved of ash and spirit by Denise Grover Swank. I have been a fan of hers for a while now and I loved the curse keepers books. So this is a wonderful spin off of that series.
Of ash and spirit is about Piper Lancaster, she’s a medium . Her world gets turned upside down when the Lost Colony reappears. Piper is trying to figure out her place in all of this and how to stop the demon that’s after her.
I can not wait for the next book in this series, I want more of Piper’s story.
This particular series is a spin-off of Swank’s The Curse Keepers trilogy. I highly recommend the original series if you haven’t read it as I feel as though it would enhance the reading experience although it is not necessary.
This book will grasp you from the moment you open it and take you on a wild ride as you delve into the supernatural alongside Piper Lancaster, college dropout turned amateur Ghost Whisperer. Never truly taking her “profession” seriously, Piper encounters more experiences as her client list seemly grows upon recent changes. Her life changes drastically when a mysterious stranger shows up and she’s inexplicably drawn to him. Only then does she realize that ghostly spirits are indeed real and that she can in fact communicate with them as well as the monsters that hide in the shadows. What does all this mean for her? Join Piper on her journey as she uncovers the truth about her family history and discovers the truth about who she truly is.
This is the start of a series. It’s a decent story which gives a good set-up for a larger story arc.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Wanted it to continue and now can hardly wait to get the next one!
I absolutely loved this book. D.G. Swank has written a captivating story that has me impatiently waiting for the next book in Piper’s journey.
The characters have drawn me in and kept me engrossed and wanting more throughout their journey. All characters are relatable without being predictable. I was left with questions and hopes for Piper and her friends.
I absolutely loved The Curse Keepers series. It is not necessary to read the previous series to enjoy Of Ash and Spirit. However, if you loved this book as much as I did, I recommend reading the series to enhance your experience with this book.
I hope a crossover will come in following books. Piper and Ellie together would definitely be a force to recon with.
