The first book in a Curse Keepers spinoff series by New York Times bestselling author Denise Grover Swank writing as D.G. Swank.Piper Lancaster might be Asheville’s most popular ghost whisperer, but she’s an unbeliever. While her clients believe she’s exorcising their ghosts, Piper knows she’s really helping them settle their inner demons—because any sane person knows ghosts aren’t real. After … real.
After the astonishing reappearance of the ruins of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, belief in the supernatural is at an all-time high, and people are seeing ghosts in every shadow. Business is better than ever. But there’s one problem—the reemergence of the Lost Colony has awakened both the supernatural world and Piper’s very real talent as a medium.
She’s soon confronted with evidence she can’t deny. Ghosts exist, and worse, so do demons. As if that weren’t enough, Asheville has a new resident demon that’s intent on killing her, and a sinfully handsome stranger who says she’s the only one who can destroy it.
Barely able to accept the complete reversal in her convictions, Piper must discover-and embrace—her true identity before it’s too late.

I wasn’t sure of this one, but I should not have worried, I really enjoyed it, and will be adding this lady to my ‘authors to watch’ list, which is growing! Likeable character, feisty, with just enough romantic interest without being sleazy! What’s not to enjoy.
love the book
I’m not a “fantasy” fan, so probably shouldn’t have putchased the book. So, I’m not one to recommend or not recommend. It wouldn’t be fair to fans of the “fantasy” world. I’m sure they would enjoy reading it.
It was a great read. I wanted to start the next novel as soon as I finished this one. Can’t wait to see where this story goes.
Just a FYI, if you like prim women characters Don’t read this, lol. It was great & different & I can’t wait for the next installment.
Our heroine is startled when she starts hearing voices. When she receives a necklace meant to protect her from demons she is also informed she is the demon slayer, and can now see ghosts, communicate, and even let others share this experience through touch.
What a tale! No sex, but some desire so I’d suggest this for a more mature but still young minds.
I really enjoyed this story, can’t wait to read the rest.
Kept me looking for answers.
Very enjoyable book — imaginative. Leaves you wanting to see what happens next.
I would read more of this author’s work.
This was fantastic. Really drew you into the storyline.
Loved it! Read in two days!
Many people prefer a stand alone book but I’m a sucker for a good series. Of Ash and Spirit is the perfect beginning to a series. It gives us a great connection to the main characters and we get to know them. We find out tidbits of their lives and history but leaves us wanting more. So many questions arise at the end of the book! As always with DGS books the writing is so descriptive I feel like I’m watching a movie. I love this book and can’t wait to read the next book!
I LOVED the Curse Keepers series by Denise. I honestly wondered how this book could live up to how great the previous one was however it definitely surpassed my expectations. I LOVE Piper. You won’t regret reading this series.
Piper Lancaster…she has such the funny beginnings of a heroine. I love her friends and potential love interest! I can’t wait to see who she picks and how her power develops. I love how Denise develops these strong women.
Love Denise’s books. And this one doesn’t disappoint.
I was very happy to delve back into this world, the characters came alive and their easy chemistry was a joy to read. I enjoy the genre that this is set in and look forward to the next one.
Fun book with different twists, which I really enjoyed. I like the characters and the fantasy aspect is not predictable.
One of those authors you want to read more of.
Great book and quick read. Love the characters and the authors use of Native American supernatural. This was key in separating this series from others in this genre.
