Meet Odd Thomas, the unassuming young hero of Dean Koontz’s dazzling New York Times bestseller, a gallant sentinel at the crossroads of life and death who offers up his heart in these pages and will forever capture yours. “The dead don’t talk. I don’t know why.” But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Sometimes the … reluctant confidant. Sometimes the silent souls who seek out Odd want justice. Occasionally their otherworldly tips help him prevent a crime. But this time it’s different.
A stranger comes to Pico Mundo, accompanied by a horde of hyena-like shades who herald an imminent catastrophe. Aided by his soul mate, Stormy Llewellyn, and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Odd will race against time to thwart the gathering evil. His account of these shattering hours, in which past and present, fate and destiny, converge, is a testament by which to live—an unforgettable fable for our time destined to rank among Dean Koontz’s most enduring works.

I enjoyed this entire series, different and unique
The first book of an engaging series introduces one of the most engaging and likable characters in modern storytelling. Highly recommended.
The Odd Thomas series is one of my favorites. I love Odd Thomas as a character and the stories draw you in. Highly recommended.
Love the whole series. Odd is a favorite literary character of mine, unique in his creation and storytelling.
Magicial
Dean doesn’t know how to write a bad book! He never fails to scare me with his menagerie of bizarre characters. From page one I am unconditionally under his control!!! Love his books and can’t wait for the next one!
Boring and very disappointing
I have read all of the Odd Thomas books and would recommend them all. This first book sets the stage and establishes the back story. Odd`s talent to see those that have failed to move on is haunting. I envy anyone starting this series,it is great reading.
I love the “odd” series from Koontz
There aren’t very many books that I’m drawn too. This one however is a rarity for me. Odd Thomas is about a good natured 20 something fry cook that has special powers, he can converse with the dead and see the future in his dreams. With his love Stormy by his side he tries to navigate the life God has given him and make sense of a haunting dream …
I thoroughly enjoy reading each new Odd Thomas book. He is one of my favorite literary characters.
Dean Koontz doesn’t write a bad book and Odd Thomas is one of his best.
Excellent.
It sure was a twisted story!
Love all this character books
I have read many of his books and enjoyed them all immensely
One of my favorite series ever!
There are a whole slew of Odd Thomas books, but the first is my favorite–some of the others were just too silly. Dean Koontz has a writing style that is fast and funny and worthy of the few hours needed to get through each book. He also writes about good and evil in a way that doesn’t celebrate and glorify the evil, like so many other authors …
One of my favorite characters by the master and there are many of them
Thoroughly enjoyed this novel–and this series. What an original ideaand what a haunting tale, literally and figuratively.
