Meet Odd Thomas, the unassuming young hero of Dean Koontz’s dazzling New York Times bestseller, a gallant sentinel at the crossroads of life and death who offers up his heart in these pages and will forever capture yours. “The dead don’t talk. I don’t know why.” But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Sometimes the … reluctant confidant. Sometimes the silent souls who seek out Odd want justice. Occasionally their otherworldly tips help him prevent a crime. But this time it’s different.
A stranger comes to Pico Mundo, accompanied by a horde of hyena-like shades who herald an imminent catastrophe. Aided by his soul mate, Stormy Llewellyn, and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Odd will race against time to thwart the gathering evil. His account of these shattering hours, in which past and present, fate and destiny, converge, is a testament by which to live—an unforgettable fable for our time destined to rank among Dean Koontz’s most enduring works.

I’ve read all the Odd Thomas series and watched the movie. The movie was good but nothing compares to Dean Koontz’s imagination he is in my opinion the best writer I’ve ever came across, he pulls you in and never lets you go even till the end. The characters he comes up with are amazing and the things he writes about challenge your imagination but …
I loved this book! Odd is such a hilarious and unique character, yet very introspective and wise beyond his years. As for the mystery, I was hooked from the start and instantly had to read the next book in the series when I finished! I must say I love Koontz’ thoughts on the afterlife and spirituality in general.
I read this book because I loved the movie so much, and it totally lives up to my expectations. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Every time I read a Dean Koontz book, I know I’m going to find characters I adore, themes that creep me out, and probably some really great nightmare fuel along the way!
Love the Odd Thomas series. Koontz is one of my go-to horror writers. I say horror – in fact it’s quite often supernatural thrillers/suspense, which is how I’d define Odd Thomas. Awesome character construction, beautifully woven tale, immersive reading experience. It’s a very fast read. Highly recommended.
I fell in love with Odd. He’s a man of simple needs, living a simple life, in a simple town. It all gets turned upsidedown because evil exists.
I am a big fan of the Odd Thomas novels. He can see the dead and he helps them to pass on to what lays beyond. He has a good relationship with the Ghost of Elvis. He can see demons whose presence always presages a big problems
I will readily admit that I am a Dean Koontz fan of many years, but Odd Thomas seems to stand outside his usual work and I mean that in a wonderful way. Odd Thomas is young but wise and almost serenely accept the future he see’s for himself.
Odd Thomas’s journey is not one you want to miss if you allow that life and this world of ours is set in …
Love Dean Koontz Odd Series, cant wait for the next one.
I think the first book is by far the best in the series. They start to get a little repitious after the first few however and it starts getting weird.
Loved the book & the rest of the series .Didn’t want to put down
Koontz is an American Master and underrated. His stories should be on the list with the classics
I loved reading the Odd Thomas books. He is such a lovable character. You can’t help but become emotionally involved with his life.
This book was funny, sad and unpredictable! I was surprised by the ending and had to read the second book right away. Definitely a mind teaser.
Odd Thomas is every mother’s dream child. Sweet, unaffected, polite. Just what you would like for a son. What happens to him is unfortunate but he handles it with style. You just love him. In ALL the books. Dean Koontz did a bang up job with this character. I wish there could be more stories, maybe from in-between the books…maybe find out how …
Hard for me to get into. Took a bit to sort it thru my head.
I read this book a few years back, given to me by my mom who thought I would like it, being a paranormal theme to it. And sure, the premise sounded and was interesting enough to go through a read.
However, I ended up starting this book twice. The first time, I just ran out of steam with it. The storyline developed incredibly slow, felt …
I love this whole series. Well, to be honest, I love everything Dean Koontz writes! But I especially enjoyed the Odd Thomas series. For best results, read them all in sequence.
Very well written. Character was amazing and fully developed. The ending while unexpected was perfect
I adore all of the Odd series….left me wanting more adventures with Thomas.
