Make it snow in Florida–check. Helicopter wedding–check. Deliver a baby–check.
But what was never on her job resume was dealing with the murder of business mogul Norman Olsen. He’s a huge figure in the gaming video business, but now it looks like he had some dangerous enemies – including his own wife and son.
When the murderer targets the hotel again. Maisie thought the worst of her worries was getting fired. But, as she uncovers clues, the murderer focuses on Maisie. Suddenly, it’s personal.
Deadly Reservation
When Maisie Swenson stumbles onto the site of an ancient church steeped in pirate folklore, she’s thrilled to explore it. She never expects to find a young woman lying in the churches yard clutching flowers like a real live Snow White. And just like the cartoon Snow White, this woman cannot be awakened.
As Maisie tries to puzzle through that situation, one of her guests is found in a coma, too. Only this one is mysteriously clutching a necklace.
Can she ever sort through all the crazy clues to find where the pirate and ghost stories end and a real life killer begins? Or are the folklore tales true after all?
Final Check Out
When Maisie takes a day off from the hotel business to visit a popular amusement park, the last thing she wants is to trip over a dead body in the Maze of Mirrors. The only witness to the murder is a park employee dressed in a princess costume.
Things take a turn as Maisie watches the princess run off and nobody seems to know who she is. And the Federal Marshal who was first on the scene has disappeared, too.
As Maisie follows the twists and turns of this not-so-funhouse, she hits one dead end after another–until she discovers that the person she should have been chasing has really been chasing her all along.

Booked for Murder – Book #1
Louisa May Marigold Swenson, Maisie for short, is the new manager of the Oceanside Hotel in Starke Springs, Florida. One of her first duties is overseeing a Comic-Con Convention at the hotel.
Shortly after the convention starts, there is a disturbance in the main meeting room. With the help of Norman Olsen, owner of Olsen Studios which makes one of the games for the show, Maisie is able to restore peace and quiet. Later that day, Mr. Olsen is found dead in the hotel pool and the police suspect foul play. Fortunately, the rest of the event runs fairly smoothly. Maisie has a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Convention scheduled for the following weekend. During the initial setup, some of the equipment catches fire, but Maisie reacts quickly, grabs a fire extinguisher and extinguishes the fire. It turns out the fire was deliberately set.
Who killed Mr. Olsen? Who started the equipment fire? Are the incidents related? Is somebody trying to sabotage Maisie in her new job?
Deadly Reservation – Book #2
During one of her few days off, Maisie decides to do a little exploring. Talking with the Desk Clerk, Clarissa, Maisie says she is going to the Holy King Church and learns that the church is haunted with a gruesome history. Not believing in ghosts, Maisie decides to explore the church any way. In the creek behind the church, Maisie sees an unconscious young woman lying on a rock. Fortunately, the woman is still alive and Maisie calls 9-1-1.
Back at the hotel, one of the guests, William Clarke, is found unconscious and is also rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, Maisie learns that the woman she found is her best friend, Ruby’s cousin, Natalie Fairchild. After catching a glimpse of a man who looks exactly like William, Maisie begins to wonder if ghosts are real and if so, is she seeing one?
Who wanted to harm Natalie and Why? Who wanted to harm William? Are the two incidents related? Is there any truth to the rumors of the church being haunted? Is Maisie really seeing ghosts? Will Maisie be able to solve the mysteries?
Final Check Out – Book #3
Maisie and Jake take a day to relax and enjoy themselves at the Funland Amusement Park. Everything is going fine until they enter the Magical Mirror Maze. Stumbling through the maze, Maisie encounters a dead body and sees a young girl in a Princess Costume running away.
After calling the police and giving her statement to the officer in charge, Maisie heads back to the hotel. Shortly after she arrives, she gets called by the front desk that there is an officer wishing to speak with her. The man identifies himself as Marshal Evans, a Federal Marshal and criminal investigator. He is interested in learning more about the girl Maisie said she saw that morning at the Mirror Maze. Although he did quickly show her a badge, Maisie thought it strange that he did not leave a card or any way of contacting him.
When she asks Kristi, her friend on the police force, about him, she learns that there is no marshal named Evans in the system and no marshals working on the case at all.
Who is Evans? Is he really a Federal Marshal? Who was the girl in the Princess costume? Who was the corpse in the Mirror Maze? Why was he killed? Can Maisie figure out what is going on and solve the mystery? Or will she end up getting herself into more trouble?
These are all fast-paced and fun books. The situations are very believable and the humor is contagious. Many of the chapters are fairly short, which only makes it that much harder to put the books down. This series is a great addition to CeeCee James’ other wonderful books and I can hardly wait for books to follow.
I love this series. Maisie, Mamma and Bingo are quite the threesome. The ladies each have their quirks and Bingo is a doll!
Booked for Murder is a great start to a new series – Oceanside Mysteries. Well developed characters with great quirks. These are folks you could know! Quick read with some misdirection in terms of solving the murder. An ideal cozy for whenever you need a break.
Deadly Reservation is a great cozy mystery – no sex, no foul language, no blood or gore – just a good mystery with a brilliant cast and a little possible romance thrown in.
Who besides Maisie would find a dead body in the fun house maze of mirrors? Final Check Out is another fun mystery by CeeCee James. This plot has many twists.
I read the first three books in less than two days ! I love Maisie and the rest of the recurring characters in this series. You are in for a treat with these cozies!
