New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh dives beneath the surface of her Psy-Changeling world into a story of passionate devotion and selfless love…Security specialist Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. Kaia Luna may have traded in science for being a chef, but she won’t hide the facts of Bo’s condition from him or herself. She’s suffered too much loss in her life to fall prey to the dangerous charm of a human who is a dead man walking. And she carries a devastating secret Bo could never imagine…
But when Kaia is taken by those who mean her deadly harm, all bets are off. Bo will do anything to get her back–even if it means striking a devil’s bargain and giving up his mind to the enemy…

I cannot get enough of Nalini’s books!!
I absolutely adore the world Nalini Singh created with the Psy/Changeling and it continues to grow both in scope and population. The characters are so vivid, and stay with you long past the point you’re done reading. They are old friends that you can return to, time and again.
Oceans Light (Book Two in Trilogy)
Kaia and Bowen is not as rocky of a romance as Silver and her Bear shifter in book one, but still an interesting couple. The reader can feel the layed back Polynesian flavor of this world setting, and the shifters that call it home. The anxiety levels Kaia deal with and struggles to over come, is real and well written. I personally love the grandmother and jumped for joy as my favorite telaporter made a brief appearance.
The world has forgotten that humans are the bridge.
Ocean Light takes use into the BlackSea Changeling world and the Human Alliance where we see doubt, over coming the odds, betrayal, fears, and making new friendships. Those that have kept up with the Psy-Changeling world know that things are changing and all the races are trying to get along, but their is one group that doesn’t want to see things succeed.
Bowen Knight is a true Knight in all the right ways. He’s had a difficult past that has shaped him into the man that he is today. I enjoyed learning about Bowen and seeing him change from the Security Chief and Leader of the Human Alliance into a man who can find happiness when he never thought he’d have the chance or be capable of it. Kaia is a water changeling who has caged herself to life in the underwater compound. I was proud of Kaia in facing her fears and over come them.
We finally get to dive into the sea and learn about the BlackSea Changelings. It was interesting learning about the water changelings and watching Bowen try to figure out what everyone is. Up until now we’ve only seen glimpses of the sea changelings and we know next to nothing about them. We do get to meet a bunch of new characters and a few previous characters popping up, but it’s a whole new world with the water changelings.
Kaia and Bowen’s romance is a slow romantic bloom. The Knight who notices everything and the Siren who soothes the Knights heart.
I enjoyed Ocean Light. It did take me longer to read; because the pace is slower and we spend the majority of our time under water watching Bowen and Kaia’s building romance. I would have liked more action, but all and all Ocean Light was a delightful read.

Because this was a large book I was afraid it was going to be filled with unnecessary sentences but it was perfect, so you understood exactly what the characters were doing and where they were. When Kaia sees the injured human man she feels something for him even though she is terrified of humans. Her cousin needs her help to get this experiment done and being as pregnant as she is Kaia will assist her so she doesn’t stress, but humans took her man from her clan named Hugo who is her friend.
When Bowen awakens his head hurts but there is a siren in the room and her presence is soothing as a caress, but Bowen is the leader of the Alliance a human policing group who the clan believes has taken their family. The more time they spend together the more attached Kaia and Bowen become much to the disappointment of the clan mates.
Someone has smashed the growing laboratory and distracted them while they stole all the lifesaving serum for Bowen’s brain because without it he will be physically there but mentally gone. This story brings together all different walks of life human and non human to work together for a common goal even with all the fears. Loved the connection between Bowen and Kaia.

Ocean’s Light is a beautiful story with a realistic romance that is hard to find in books these days. For once, the main characters’ relationship isn’t based on anything physical. It’s emotional and real.
There were a few sex scenes in the book that I had to skip, but they were led up to, which made it easier to know when to skip them. But their relationship wasn’t based on physical attraction which was so refreshing for me, since I hate sex scenes and when relationships in books are all about physical attraction.
Bo and Kaia have a real relationship. They’re realistic characters, each with their own deep pasts that they have to work through.
But I do feel like the book could have pulled it off so much better.
The tension in their relationship would have been so much better, though, had the “ticking time bomb” in Bowen’s head not been built up so much only to be completely discarded later in the book, as no big deal. So many times, they’re living in the present moment and worried sick about how he only has a few more weeks and that the compound has a 95% chance of failing and then he has the surgery in half a page and boom, he wakes up, no effects and is literally just fine. It isn’t realistic and it makes the build up to it fall completely flat—not to mention, it’s really disappointing as a reader.
Another issue that I had with this book was that the blurb was misleading. Kaia wasn’t taken until the last ten or twenty pages of the book. And then, the “devil’s bargain” that Bowen had made not only were the readers robbed of having him discuss it with Kaia and we didn’t get to see her full reaction to him telling her about it, but the bargain itself was completely discarded at the end because the guy Bo struck the bargain with was basically like, “never mind. Forget the bargain. Let’s be friends.”
I know I sound super negative but I really did enjoy this book. There is such amazing and super creative race building with the Psy, the Human Alliance, the changelings, BlackSea, and other various groups mentioned throughout the book. It’s super inspiring and it unlocks the inner creative inside me. I absolutely LOVED it. The characters are so loveable and realistic and creative. Pieces of Bowen’s past make me want to know more and my heart goes out to him and I love how his past made him who he is. I love Kaia, her personality, how well defined she is. I love that she has a tragic past and how badly it affects her now, and how it affects the way she see’s Bowen. The tension between them is really good and it keeps the story strong, despite the pitfalls.
I just wish that the synopsis hadn’t made me hooked into the kidnapping and the bargain, only to not do them both until last minute, which made them very rushed, and the bargain to be discarded, as well as to completely disregard the ticking time bomb in his head as kind of a false alarm. I did enjoy this book, though, and would have rated it 5 stars (and would consider it one of my favorite books), if not for these critiques.
I hope the author continues Bowen’s story and does more with him and the bargain, maybe to make up for it. That would be a story I’d love to read!
I never want to leave BlackSea….
It felt like so much build up to this, our first real glimpse into the BlackSea clan – and it felt like home…
Bo was fighting for his life, for the life of those he loved, called family. Waking up to the chance he may pave the way for their survival, also had beautiful Kaia holding his hand. Kaia was warm, nurturing and inexplicably looked at him like he was a monster. Their chemistry was off the charts but so was the distrust….
Yes, the insta-love was, well, instant, but each gentle touch and act of understanding that followed had it all make sense. The warmth, the devotion, between these two are life goals, people! Their feelings felt too real, too honest, to be anything but sincere. Slowly revealing their fears, their secrets meant a journey of change, discovery and (surprisingly) fun. In a world of shifters who knew a mouse would spell a hex on me…
The Psy-Changeling world captured me from the very first book and Bo and Kaia’s story simply added more icing on that cake.

“Belief can move mountains.”
Human Alliance leader Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. But the chip implanted into his brain to save him from Psy is now a ticking time bomb. With the help of BlackSea he undergoes an experimental and risky surgery to stop the chip from destroying his brain. What he doesn’t expect is to fall in love with a beautiful and hurt changeling.
Wow, does Singh really know how to write an emotional book. I was actually apprehensive about reading this book because I wasn’t a huge Bowen fan from the previous series. I didn’t hate him, mostly I was just indifferent about his character. This book changed everything though! I was surprised by how much I liked Bowen. Bowen is a true knight in all ways and everything you would want in a leader. He was willing to sacrifice everything, even his own life, if it meant saving other humans. I loved how even though he might die he made every moment count, especially those with Kaia.
Kaia was a truly bright soul. She cares for everyone and everyone loves her. As the cat’s put it, she is a maternal. She has a lot of mental scars and PTSD from her childhood though. It’s a struggle for her to put her heart on the line with Bo when she knows he might leave her at any moment. I really admire her. Life has really knocked her around but she still goes on and tries to make everyone happy, especially with good food. Also I just loved that she had a pet mouse. It was so cute and I want a mouse now.
What I truly loved about this book though was that it was BlackSea. They have been teased throughout the series but this is the first time we actually get a whole book dedicated to them. I loved how different they were from other changeling packs we have seen. I loved that the residents when shifted they would try to startle or spy on other people on the base.
This was a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next, especially where the consortium is concerned.

In Ocean Light, we find out what happened to Bowen Knight after he was shot in that last book. His future wasn’t looking so bright after finding out that the chip in his head will eventually kill him, and then he gets himself shot by trying to save his sister. After being shot, Bowen is taken to the scientist of the Black Sea changelings where he meets their chef, Kaia Luna.
What can I say? Nalini Singh has completely captured my attention with this series. I love the constantly evolving plot, as well as, the individual stories from each pairing we get with each new book. I’m impressed that it never feels like the same story over and over. On to the next book…
This pushed all my buttons
Made me laugh, even tear up
I felt the sense of family, the love. Outstanding romantic paranormal suspense and love the narrator!
Definitely not my favorite of the Psy-Changeling series, but it was still a good read. I really like the main characters, and the the overall story arc in this world will keep me coming back. It just felt like some spark was missing. I think it was just a softer story than was expected for hard edged Bowen. Still a huge fan and cannot wait for the next book.
Another brilliant read from Nalini Singh!
The book was slow to start, then increasingly unfolded into a highly entertaining read! The story is set in an underwater BlackSea installment where Bowen is undergoing extensive testing to help disable the implant at the base of his brain before it kills him. But the BlackSea Changelings (shape-shifters) have other reasons why they are helping Bowen. Word on the street is Bowen’s dirty; responsible for the disappearances of several gifted water changelings. BlackSea needs to find out what Bowen knows before more changelings go missing. They’re racing the clock to save the one man who might lead them to their vanished.
I loved the heck out of this book! Bowen and Kaia’s courtship was funny, sweet and frustrating. They had so many odds against them I was really pulling for the couple. Bowen is a thoughtful romantic and Kaia fought to resist his charms but ended up falling hard for the sexy security specialist
We finally get to delve into the world of the water changelings! It was so exciting to read about all the different changeling species! What I loved even more was the mystery of it all! Every changeling was complex and distinctive. You could tell Ms. Singh spent a lot of time with the character development and the plot because the characters were so diverse and vibrant. I loved experiencing this undiscovered world of changelings right alongside Bowen!
I also loved that we met new characters but we are also treated to several appearances from previous Psy-Changeling characters. More aspects of this amazing Psy-Changeling world are revealed as well. The story was riveting and I couldn’t put it down until the last page was devoured!
OCEAN LIGHT is an amazing and exciting story! It’s the second book in the Psy-Changeling Trinity series but can be read as a standalone.
If you are looking for an exciting story with dynamic characters, engaging plots and incredible love stories, pick yourself up a Nalini Singh book! You’ll get all of this and more!

4.5 Stars
Negatives & Positives
My only negatives is occasionally the story was a bit repetitive and this slowed the pace/flow down.
Other than that I adored it.
I have been waiting a long time for Bowen Knight to get his story and I was not disappointed. Finally a great story about the humans in this Psy-Changeling series! The world build and foundation was fantastic. Add to that I got my second wish come true. A lot more about the Black Sea changelings.
The romance between BlackSea’s Kaia Luna and Bowen is stormy, turbulent and passionate. It is definitely an ‘adult’ romance, it is not erotic nor hard core in any way. It is sweet and loving.
There are a lot of things going on and both Bowen and Kaia are unsure who the enemy is. Things point to many of their most trusted and loved. The suspense keeps you on your toes.
While this story is mostly about the romance between Kaia & Bowen, there is no lack of action as they struggle to find the traitors to the Trinity and peace.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves great suspense with a solid adult romance.
I give this book 4.5 stars!
I love this series so much and was really happy to get to see a new side to the changeling world , this time it was the sea changelings that were the lead and it was great ,loved the characters and the plot .
it was great to learn more about Bowen ,he is such an interesting character ,to see what happened in his past to make him hate the Psy and how it made him into the person he is today ,it was great that he found someone to help him actually start to live his life instead of just surviving .
I really liked Kaia ,she’s strong and takes no crap from anyone ,but she also is like the biggest softie ever ! i loved how her relationship with Bowen unfolded ,how they were able to help each other over come their fears and learn to really live .
I loved all the side characters and i can’t wait to read more about their world ! also when is Lilly gonna get her own book like i really want to read more about her 🙂
Felt a little under what I’m used to seeing from Nalini in quality characters and story.
Another wonderful offering from Nalini Singh. She is simply amazing, and I have read everything by her I can find. I do recommend reading the Psy/Changeling series in order since they are definitely sequential, but every one is terrific.
This series is like fresh water in the desert. I just keep wanting more and more! Nalini Singh is a brilliant author!
I really enjoyed this story. We have Bowen Knight, the leader of the Human Alliance and Kai Luna, a Black Sea Changeling, in the next story of the Psy Changeling series and as expected, Ms. Singh did not disappoint! I am an avid fan and love all of her books! Bowen is severely injured in our last story, possibly believed dead, however he lies in a coma. Attie, cousin to Kaia, is entrusted with the care of Bowen Knight. When he wakes, Kaia is overwhelmed and scared of the feelings that he arises within her. Bowen realizes that he now has to fight harder than ever to survive, for he knows he has met his mate. Filled with action, betrayal, a hurt so deep within both the heroine and hero, I could not put the book down. In the end, we have a treachery so deep that it threatens to tear apart the Black Sea changelings but the core of their love runs profoundly and ohana is everything to them! I loved it. 4.5 stars****
Awesome book. I wondered how a story that goes deep beneath the oceans would work, but I shouldn’t have wondered at all. Nalini Singh has done it again. Her world-building and characters are fabulous. She’s on my auto-buy list.
