A time jump. A fight for survival. A bond between species.
It wasn’t possible, but then it happened… the evidence, Lincoln cannot deny that the drone is one of his own models. After all, he routinely jumps his drones into the past to collect environmental data. The problem is, this drone shouldn’t even exist in Lincoln’s universe. Everyone knows sending a drone into the past creates an alternate timeline.
The implications of the discovery are staggering, and Lincoln is ordered to jump back in time to investigate, even though no human has ever done so before. Upon jumping, he and his team find themselves in a world of deadly creatures and savage beings.
Amidst the primeval chaos, Lincoln encounters Skyra, a woman unlike anyone he has ever known. She is a skilled hunter and vicious fighter. She is not human, but she just might hold the key to humanity’s future.
Obsolete Theorem, the first book in the new Across Horizons series, is perfect for readers who love time travel, deadly creatures, wilderness survival, and unforgettable characters.

Such an incredible book! Can you go back and forth in time – maybe. Lincoln ran a company trying to defy time. They received a message from the past that was found in a paleontological site. Lincoln and crew decided to try to go back to the time stated in a time jump, not knowing the consequences or surprises or danger in store for them. What happens is extraordinary! Well written, good book!
Wow what a mind blowing twist on time travel! Lincoln is a genius who sends drones back through time. One of his drones is found with the partial skeleton of a neanderthal female from 47,000 years ago in Lincoln’s time line with a message etched in both specifically for Lincoln. Now Lincoln and his team of misfits must attempt to travel back in time to save their civilization. The characters are likable and well developed. The action is great and the story line is fantastical!
From the description of this series of books, I at first got the impression that Stan Smith had already approached the issue of time travel in the Bridgers series. But no, this is quite different. Though some of the quandaries of time travel, in general, are the same, this book approaches it at another angle. It is quite an interesting read. It is long enough to present a story, yet short enough to be able to read in a short time. (It is compelling enough to make you want to read it in one go. Maybe through the night.) I highly recommend it.
I really liked this book. The gross, bloody beginning was a little off-putting for me but it certainly did grab my attention. Skyra, the female neanderthal protagonist is a fascinating character as is Lincoln, the modern day genius. The story is exciting and thought provoking with elements of science fiction, primitive violence, and suggestions of romance. Something for everyone!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
This was a truly entertaining book. Time travel reveals Neanderthals and Humans at the time of their existence together on earth. When a message is received from a drone 47000 years ago saying the future of mankind is in danger, no body can understand why but a few brave souls go back to see what the big deal is and this is where the fun begins. Can you go back in time and change the future, and can you even return to the future? Exciting and a great ending.
