This author blows me away with her writing style. The intends subject matter is phenomenally written. She takes sensitive subject matter and doesn’t rush or gloss over the gritty nature of the matter. Crux and Farren are fantastic together. Crux is a billionaire bad boy that gets arrested for murder protecting Farren. But there is a price to pay for protecting the girl-prison time. He gets out after three years on a technicality and the first thing he does is drive to see Farren.
Farren still has nightmares from the time she was in her stepfather’s clutches. Crux soothes the worst of them. It seems to be a family affair when it comes to abuse. Farren and Crux’s relationship starts out and comfort and ends in them being lovers. I can’t wait for the other two brothers to get there stories!!
I know my review is not going to do this book justice. I have been waiting very (im)patiently waiting for this to be released, and I was very, very, very lucky to have been able to win an early copy of this extraordinary book. My heart hurt for Farren, I wanted to take her in my arms and just hold her.
Farren Hallewell has been abused and mistreated for years. The people who were supposed to love and care for her. Because of the abuse she has withdrawn into herself and does not have any friends. Of course, there are some kids at school that love to torment and do things to humiliate her.
Cruz Malcom is a hero in my book. He took matters into his own hands to make sure his bird would be safe. The day he is released he seeks Farren out. He comes to her rescue when a group of kids are bullying her. He steps up to be her protector.
There are some things that comes to light with one of the young men who was tormenting her. Farren steps up and learns to deal with her past. Crux stands beside her through everything. He shows her what it is like to be loved and cared for. He helps her spread her wings and how to live life.
The only thing I wished for in this book, is that we would have been some closure where her mother was concerned. I’m looking forward to see what is in store for Free and Cross.
This book will pull you in from the beginning and hold you there until the end! Once I started it, I absolutely could not put it down! Told in dual POV and beware, it contains triggers. It is well written, with amazing characters.
Crux is an Alpha male who will do anything to protect his “bird” Ren. He’s An alpha male on a mission, and once he makes Ren see that she is his, there’s no stopping him. There are twists throughout that keeps the reader engaged and wanting more. I can’t wait to read more about Those Malcolm Boys!
First let me say this for me was another hit by the ever talented K.L Donn. This lady can really pull the heart strings as well as every other emotion. This book? …. it’s an emotional rollercoaster! It has the feels big big time. Now Miss Donn told everyone far and wide that there was some scenes that could be triggers and I’ll add yes there was. So yet again be warned but that in no way takes away anything from this story. Farren is such a … let’s just say I loved her. She wasnt weak nor was she over the top. Things happened and she rolled with it the best she could. I love how shes strong- inner strength. Crux that bad ass that he was…yummy. he did what he did best. Take care of Farren. By any means. I loved that. I loved that even though Farren was cracked he loved each jagged piece until he made them shine and smooth.
Like I said another hit. For me this book had it all. Ups, downs and in betweens.
“I feel it, bird. I feel your dying soul. Your lack of will. And I’ll fight for it. For you.” -Crux Malcolm
Oh my, how you ever been so swept up into a story it’s like you feel what’s happening. Every hurt, every joy, every triumph? That’s what Obsessive Love did to me. This book is like an addiction once you start it you won’t be able to stop. And it’ll wrap you in it’s strong but brutal arms and you’ll love every minute of it! I’m still recovering from the best book hangover ever. OA will have you wondering if you could get your hands on your own Malcolm boy lol it’s that good.
Loved, Loved, LOVED this book, could not put it down & read it entirely in one sitting.
Farren’s story truly broke my heart, KL wrote it so well.
I cannot wait to read the rest of the Malcolm brother’s stories and would never hesitate to highly recommend this book.
Wow, that’s just wow.
I couldn’t put the book down, the characters had me riveted and the storyline was complexed to the point where I cried, laughed and felt everything the characters did. KL has worked her magic on yet another book and I totally need the other brothers stories now.
Farren (Ren) is no longer the girl she used to be. Being hurt was only the beginning it was the betrayal of those who should protect her and that she should be able to trust that cuts the deepest.
Crux is her neighbor and there was something about Ren that called to his soul that he couldn’t deny. He would do anything for her and he did. He is now back in her life and he determined to help his “bird” heal even if it means walking away.
I loved both these characters. Ren has endured so much but she has an inner strength that comes out when she needs it the most. Crux is a possessive alpha male who is determined to be the protector she always needed. The other Malcolm brother’s stories can’t come soon enough.
Obsessed!!! I have loved ever book that I have read of KL’s and this one is no different. Crux when we first meet him I wasn’t so sure if I was going to love him but the more I read the more I liked. Farren has had a really bad beginning to her life and then enters Crux and his brothers. I couldn’t put this one down wanting to know how it was going to end. Also I really can’t wait to dig into the stories of the other 2 brothers because we get to see them enough in this book to know that they each have their own story to tell. I want more!!!!
Crux Malcolm knew that Farren Hallewell was his from the moment he saw her. And, he was willing to do whatever he could to protect her, including kill. Sitting in jail was worth knowing she wasn’t being hurt anymore. But when he’s released on a technicality, Crux can finally claim his broken little bird and protect her from the rest of the world.
Farren Hallewell is broken. She’s been through the unimaginable in her young life. She scared and broken and just wants to be invisible so she can get through the day without being tormented by her classmates or her mother’s “boyfriends.” When Crux shows up when she needs him most at school one day, she should be terrified at being defended by a killer. Yet, all she feels is relief. She may be his obsession, but he is her safe place.
For being novella length, Obsessive Addiction really tries to pack a lot of story into just about 100 pages. This tale is very dark and riddled with bunches of triggers, not limited to violence, thoughts of suicide and sexual abuse.
Crux is definitely an obsessive personality – almost terrifyingly so. For him, Farren and her welfare comes first, above everything else. Farren is an achingly beautiful broken soul. She’s faced abuse and mistreatment for most of her young life and doesn’t know how to deal . . .even with the help of therapists. The one and only person who has ever protected her or made her feel safe is Crux. Even though, she struggles, There is much more to Farren than meets the eye, and I love her inner strength, especially knowing how hard people have tried to beat it out of her.
While I enjoyed this story, I did want more in depth characterization . . .especially for Crux. I really wanted to know a bit more about what makes him tick and why his personality is obsessive. With such an intense topic as sexual abuse, additional length and detail would have helped put this book over the top for me. 4 stars.
This book has my heart pounding. I’ve already read it twice, and the effect is the same. This is a story that will stay will you after you read it, and have you randomly thinking about it in your everyday life. There is a lot of emotion packed into this book, and I loved every heart pumping minute. This book was great, and I absolutely recommend it. I can only imagine how good the next Malcolm brother book is going to be.
I am a fan of this author I know what I am getting. Crux Malcolm (you know with that name he is gonna be a knockout) is one of the most intense guys. He just got released from prison for murder, and he has no remorse and I can’t blame him. This man has an obsession and her name is Farren.
Farren crushed me, her life has been filled with abuse, but her strength is outstanding her character is broken but she is still alive just wanting to break free. Crux is coming to protect his little Bird and nothing is gonna stop him.
Again so Intense this does deal with abuse, horrible. It’s also a beautiful story of redemption and Passion and overwhelming love. Crux is made for Farren they bring out the best in one another. She calms his storm and he heals her heart. It was just an exquisitely written story, that will embrace your heart. I so did not want this read to end, Please give us More.I happily read this to share my ideas about the book
This book will stay with you for a while after you have finished reading it. The life of the h is not an easy one and the H became her light in many ways. The plot does touch on matters that might be a trigger for some. The storyline is poignant, the emotions are raw and the HEA is well deserved. The characters together are fantastic. An encompassing read that lingers with you. I’m eager for the rest of this series. Highly recommended.
I’m not going to lie even a little bit. Writing this review was HARD. I connected with Farren like I did with Ariel (in Luther). I think I’ll always connect with characters that struggle within themselves the way these two have. I haven’t been in either of their situations physically, but I have emotionally.
And with the way K.L Donn writes, you don’t need to have go through anything to feel it anyway.
Obsessive Addiction left me raw and bleeding emotionally, it ripped me to shreds over and over again. Just when I thought it was over, that Ren would go skipping off into the distance with Crux and live happily ever after, I was ripped apart again.
Why? Because KL Donn has to write characters that seem like their broken, only to show you the true strength they have hidden. Despite the evil around them, despite the horrors they’ve seen and been through, inside they are stronger than anyone they’ve ever met.
I mean LORD, I was warned that this might wreck me but I didn’t really believe it. I mean, in most ways I did believe it because I know KL, and I know she loves to kill me, but I wasn’t expecting it still. Even though it was hard, I couldn’t stop reading. I was drawn in from the beginning.
The plot was so different, so unique, I was left obsessed as well. Crux was addicted and obsessed as well. Though Luther will always be my husband, Crux is definitely up there in terms of stealing a piece of my heart.
I loved every single minute of the painful experience that was Obsessive Addiction. In fact, by the end, I was ready to experience more of that pain just to read more of Ren and Crux. And I can guarantee, you’ll want it too.
Oh my gosh, I don’t even know how to write a review for this book that will give it the praise it deserves. I was drawn in from the beginning. It was heartbreaking and oh so good. I was emotionally drained, but in the best way. If the triggers don’t turn you away, this is definitely a must read.
Crux and Farren’s story was amazing. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, perfect and filled with so much love between Crux and Farren. I love how they both brought out the best in each other and how Farren becomes more sure in herself. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the next Malcolm boy!
**4.5 stars!***
This book sucked me in the from the very beginning. I was intrigued by Crux and why the son of a billionaire would have been arrested. I loved how he loved Ren more than he loves himself and was not only willing but happy to sacrifice for her.
Ren is terrified of men and suspicious of women but she’s never scared of Crux. Even when anger is ravaging him, she’s never afraid of him hurting her. Her complete trust in him is exactly what he needs.
I definitely can’t wait for the other brothers books!
Obsessive Addiction by K.L. Donn is book One in Those Malcolm Boys series. This is the story of Farren and Crux.
Crux has been obsessively watching Farren who he has grown to have feelings for. When he sees the abuse she is going through he takes action that lands him doing time. But he is out now and about to go forward with his feelings for Farren. Farren is still dealing with that abuse but she does feel somewhat protected by Crux.
Since this is a Novella it does more at a fast pace and may have some trigger parts in their story. Overall I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more from this author and series!
What a fantastic start to a new series, this book is so emotional, the chemistry between Crux and Farren is there from the start. Even though this is a tough story KL Donn has so done it justice, if flows beautifully and the characters all work well together. I cried while reading this story so get the tissues ready. This book will have you going WOW once you finish it. 5Stars.
This was a quick, easy read that packed a huge punch. KL Donn drew so much emotion in the pages of this book that it felt like a much larger story than was actually printed. Farren had a heartbreaking life before Crux came along and battled her demons. Their love was all consuming and fierce and just felt necessary. Great book by KL Donn!
