Crux and Farren story is not your topical love story. It’s a story of serval and over coming a very tragic even in a young woman live and finding that you have people that actually love you and has your back. I loved this story. KL Donn know how to write a book that just pulls you into the characters world.
Wow! KL Donn has done it again!! She writes stories that make you laugh and cry and this book made me cry much more than I laughed. Without going into too much detail, Farren (the heroine)…absolutely broke me completely. My heart literally shattered for her. I can’t pinpoint to one thing I like or love about this book, I love it entirely!! As with most of KL’s stories, she gets a good grip on your emotions and doesn’t really let go until you see that the characters get a HEA (happily ever after) or HFN (happily for now) type of ending. I honestly think that this is one of KL’s most tragically written stories however like with all her previous stories, it ends beautifully.
This new story from KL Donn has fully blown me away. I was honestly speechless but I loved this story so much that I had to write about it and scream to the world how amazing it is.
Obsessive Addiction didn’t just play out in my head as I read… it also gave of hues of color for me too. I can’t explain it any better than that. The story started of in hues of gray and gloom for me and then as the storyline progressed it got brighter in color and ended on such a happy note that all I saw was a multitude of colors!
The characters were phenomenal and the story was captivating! Seriously one of KL Donn’s best stories that she has ever written!
Talk about an obsession! This is the start of a series I’m definitely going to be obsessed with. Crux and Farren are intense! There is a lot of pain and scars in this story which will twist your heart but it is an amazing ride! I’m looking forward to more from this series!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I have a good handful of favorite authors. My reading range is crazy. I read just about everything. But, there is one type of book that I can’t ever seem to get enough of. Alpha Heros and Damsel in Destress (with a side of kickass) Heroines.
I can read KL Donn’s books every day and not get bored. I’ve said it before, she writes the perfect “Carol book”.
Obsessive Addiction…
This book was AMAZING!
From the very first page until “The End” I was completely enraptured.
The plot was amazing, the characters were amazing, and I loved the Malcolm brothers. I’m beyond excited to read their stores.
I loved this book so much, I might go as far as to say it’s my favorite. I’m sorry Adair Empire, Love Letters, Possessed, In His Arms, The Protectors, and Hogan Brothers. (Am I missing some? Somethings missing!) I love you all very much but Crux just kind of walked in and strutted to the front. Even King placed a chair beside him because…well, that man won’t move from his spot for anyone.
Crux is everything an Alpha male can be. He’s sexy, he’s temperamental, he’s protective, he obsessive and when he finds something he wants, he goes for it.
Ferren goes through some really really rough stuff. But, Crux is determined to help her through it. The blurb is enough to tell you that this is one crazy book that you will quickly become addicted to….Obsessively.
The title of this book does it justice. The man is very obsessive over his addiction.
While I didn’t have a hard time reading it, my emotions were all over the place. KL gave many warnings about this book before giving out ARCs. While I’m not one to take trigger warnings lightly, I know a good bunch of readers do. Warning…DO NOT…I repeat…DO NOT take her warning lightly. This book is filled with possible triggers. It even had my hand flying up to cover my mouth a few times.
Let me start by saying this book has some hard themes for some people to read, especially involving violence and abuse. That said this book was very emotional. You literally went on this journey of self discovery, healing and redemption with them.
Crux went to prison for killing a man.
Farren (Ren) is living a life that should be free of the man who was abusing her but there are still outside forces hurting her.
When Crux gets released from prison he comes straight for Rea and thats when everything happens.
This book deals a lot with abuse, anger, bullying but it centers on depression and what happens to someone when they spirit and been so thoroughly crushed.
I love the journey these characters go on, even though it is dark at times that just adds to the realism surrounding that emotional part of the book.
Definitely recommend this book because it made me cry and laugh and just hit me right in the heart.
This was a good start to the Malcolm brothers’ books. Crux saved Farren from an evil man and comes back into her life in time to save her from more of the same from the man’s family and her own. In doing so, Crux finds that one of Farren’s tormentors is a victim himself, and the two set out to save him also. This was a story of how love can push someone to extremes when the safety of their loved one is involved and has the potential to be a great series.
I only gave this 4 because of Farren’s age. Had she been a few years older, this would’ve been a 5 read for me.
This story was HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL, and though I recommend it to all romance readers, I know it is not for everyone. Some parts were graphic and heart-wrenching. My heart hurt for the evil Ren endured.
The lengths Crux went to protect her, to save her . . . they made me fall in love with his character. Crux was intense and over the top protective.
Ren was broken, yet so strong.
Together, they helped each other.
They healed.
They were BEAUTIFUL.
There are no words to describe how much I LOVED THIS STORY.
There’s a lot of this story that is hard to read. It’s,graphic and written so well. Crux and Farren are so good for each other,it’s joyful to read about. You are definitely wishing for their hard fought HEA. Don’t let the hard subject matter of this story scare you away. It’s a really BIG 5 star read. You won’t be sorry you read it.
Obsessive Addiction is the first book that I’ve read from K.L. Donn and it will not be my last! This story hooks you from the beginning and doesn’t let you go.
Crux, billionaire bad boy, saves a damsel in distress from the severe mistreatment she receives from her father. This salvation comes at a price though: time in prison. Cruz, however, gets off on a technicality and immediately seeks out Farren. Their relationship started prior to this but expanded when he returned to her life.
This love story is one that you do not want to miss!! I definitely recommend this romance to anyone who likes their stories with a bit of darkness.
Obsessive addiction is a heartbreaking beautiful story. I loved every word from beginning to the end. This story is close to my heart and I had many tears while reading this book. I loved this book and Crux and Farren’s story. I highly recommend reading this book.
For a novella, this story sure packs an emotional punch! My heart broke for Farren, she has gone through so much in her young life. Her experiences can cause possible triggers in some readers so the warning was appreciated. I was so glad that Farren had Crux in her life now. She really needed a champion when she was younger but I am glad there is someone for her now who is there to protect her.
Crux was the one who eliminated Farren’s abuser and he was punished for it, but he is out now and ready to take on any lasting demons she may have. Farren’s present is still filled with anguish including her own negative thoughts about herself and outside tormentors. He is determined to be by her side from here on out. There story was filled with so much pain and angst, rage and obsession but with so much love, it was actually very beautiful.
This was a great read, I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
