You don’t see me, but I see you.I always see you.I’m always there — no matter what you do.No matter if you’re a lovely mother during the day or a debauched whore at night.I see you reading to your child or wrapping your legs around a pole.I see you rubbing your petite body against other men and serving guests in your chaste uniform.I know who you are, and who you would like to be.I know what you … would like to be.
I know what you need and you will get it.
Soon.
Then you will be mine.

I’ve not read anything from this author before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the blurb sounded darkish and so I thought I’d give it a go. After reading this book I’m still not sure if I am hooked or not so I guess I’ll have to read part 2! This plot is somewhat dark, and the characters are not overly likable but they are ok. I definitely need to read more before I decide if I like or love this author.

This is a dark stalker romance featuring Olivia, a single mom working hard to raise her child, and Keaton, who is obsessed with her for the month he has been watching her. This book draws the reader in and keeps your attention. The characters are perfectly developed for their roles. The book is the first in a duet and is continued in the next book entitled Possessed.

There was a lot of hype and comments about this book and maybe my expectations were too high but honestly this book was just okay for me.
I loved the premise and promise with this story, it was uniquely written, but it lacked.
Keaton J. Rush. Ooooh, what a deliciously dark, complex, uber jealous/possessive Hero Ms. Both has created with this man.
I looove him. I shouldn’t because he isn’t necessarily a good man.
He isn’t evil or a murderer, but he IS cloaked & shrouded with an unrepentant darkness he embraces wholeheartedly. Keaton is subtly arrogant although it comes across as supreme self-confidence vs off putting arrogance. He hides his volcanic emotions beneath an exterior of utter calm that sometimes comes across as boredom. He speaks with sure & complete power & dominance yet rarely, if ever, raises his voice. His GQ model worthy face & form are a magnet for females & while he is discriminating in choosing intimate partners, he feeds his dark carnal urges when & as he desires. Keaton is not a sweet thoughtful lover. As a lover he is selfish, self-focused, rough, demanding, dominant & doesn’t much care what his partner(s) want or indeed, get from him. Only what he wants from them.
So, WHY looove him?
For me, it’s the part of me that’s drawn to the dark, the Hero who just may be somewhat of an anti-Hero, who you KNOW is much darker than he shows, who gives you delicious shivers & goosebumps that forewarn of danger as well as titillate. A quietly strong powerful man who takes control naturally & impresses his will on others.
Keaton isn’t a likable man, you either hate him or hate to love him. And, I admit, fall into the latter category. WHICH helped me to understand Olivia’s (heroine) instinctive but virtually helpless attraction to him.
Olivia is a single mother to her beloved son, Riley. Since he was born, Olivia has been fiercely protective of him & has done whatever she needs to do to provide him with the best life she is able to do. And in this regard, Olivia is a paragon. Whatever hours she must work at her two jobs, she’ll work. Her only thoughts are of her son.
Until Fate smoothly inserts Keaton into Olivia as well as Riley’s lives.
And both Olivia & Riley are enthralled & enchanted by Keaton, almost magnetically drawn to him & completely unable to resist him.
BUT, it wasn’t Fate.
It was Keaton.
Because Keaton had been stalking Olivia for several months & decided Olivia was his.
But as Keaton ensnares Olivia deeper & deeper into his thrall, he continues to hide his true darkness from her . . . .
I found myself swirling deeper & deeper into this one, as mesmerized by Keaton as Olivia was & just as enthralled. The reader receives both Keaton & Olivia’s POV’s allowing them to understand some of what Keaton has done & plans to do. His thoughts are presented as though he is speaking to Olivia, a few times Riley, or whatever unfortunate person has incurred his wrath or disgust. But even the reader isn’t given access to ALL of Keaton or his darkness. And this keeps the reader on delectable tenterhooks wondering & worrying just WHAT is the dark secret Keaton is hiding.
As I’ve mentioned before, Keaton isn’t a particularly likable man, nor does he have likable ways or goals. But, Ms. Both made him shine for me. I was compelled to continue reading & found I was vastly enjoying the story & was deliciously entertained from the first page to the last. Both Keaton & Olivia (& Riley) are beautifully complex & multi-layered characters that I found were fascinating.
I also found I couldn’t put this one down, I HAD to know what came next; I was delightfully obsessed with Keaton & Olivia, I was invested in them, cared about them & found I was deeply hopeful for the potential of a meaningful & lasting relationship between them. And for me, I found the author’s skill in crafting these two characters as well as the plot was marvelously skillful. I loved the flow of the book, it smoothly transitions from one chapter to the next & I never skipped or skimmed anything, nor did I ever want to do so.
This author is European & I found her writing style to be slightly different than an American author, nothing negative, merely different. Also, there are some errors, wrong tenses, etc. in the book but nothing that detracted my attention from reading.
For those who love a captivating dark romance with a Hero who is hard to love yet irresistible; with a heroine who is submissive but in no way a doormat & who has deep reserves of strength as well as determination; with a marvelously complex & layered plot that deliciously enthralls: Read this one.
I did & I loved it.
This is the first book by these authors and I loved it. I generally love the stalker romance books and this one didn’t disappoint at all. It had all the feels. I truly can’t wait to see how the story plays out.
