Dear Lovelorn, I am obsessed with my sister’s beau. How desperate can a girl get? Neither suspect I carry this secret but it causes me to do horrid things. When I let the green monster loose to do its devilish deeds, I don’t even recognize myself and run for cover to hide my sins. In one short year I will turn eighteen-years-old and able to court whomever I choose. But I want none of the boys who … boys who flock about me like roosters ready to crow victory over my wretched heart. I want Michael. How does one settle for anything less than love? I feel like a fraud who has been tricked by the master con-artist.
A Defeated Fraud.
Dear Defeated Fraud,
And rightly addressed. You must face your folly, confess your disloyalty and turn your attention toward the roosters who are not aware of your fickle and treacherous heart. Love is found in many forms and surely there is one who can climb high enough to perch on your pedestal. You are indeed a fraud who has been tricked by the master con-artist. Don’t be surprised to wake up and discover it is you who has solely sabotaged your chance at love.
Yours Truly: The Lovelorn.
Not the answer Tariana expected!
Follow the preacher’s daughter, as she searches her heart and discovers love in the least expected place. The story is set in Oregon City, 1880.

Obsessed as only a teenage girl can be. Marlene Bierworth has written a story that gives that emotional state a voice. This is a fun story that shows not how fickle but how untrustworthy emotions can be. I enjoyed reading this story of finding true love that has been staring you in the face.
What a great read with wonderful characters! I loved how this story played out, I couldn’t tear myself away from the pages. There is so much to love about this story especially a feisty determined young woman who is set on having her way. A sweet clean romance that keeps the reader entertained and not wanting the story to end!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This book is a wonderful addition to this series! The delightful story of Tariana who is jealous of her sister’s relationship with Michael. After all, isn’t she better suited to be his fiancée? Some laugh out loud moments as well as some harrowing moments. A fantastic story!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
A great book with a unique plot. Which is what I like most about the story. Easy and fun to read. Perfect for those who enjoy historical romance.
GOD’S CHOICE IS ALWAYS THE BEST
The story takes place in 1880 in Oregon City, Oregon. It will revolve around the Gracin family and a few other families in town. Reverend Gracin is the father of five girls, and each of his daughters has her own distinct personality. The second daughter, Tariana, is a tomboy, and she will grow up discovering the difference between infatuation and true love. Sometimes, the one that is your best friend, and closest to you, is more than just a friend.
“He’s been here my entire life.”
Seventeen-year-old Tariana Gracin isn’t a rebel but a free spirit and a bit naive. She and her best friend and neighbor, Jamie Sackerton, have enjoyed fishing and hunting for years. But, she just sees Jamie as her friend, and he is hoping someday she will see him as more. Tariana is infatuated with Michael, who is courting her older sister, Frances. Her obsession is getting out of hand and will cause issues.
Jamie Sackerton has been friends with Tariana since they were children. Hunting, fishing, and roaming the woods have always felt right. He isn’t happy with her obsession with Michael and doesn’t see him as more than just a friend. When a new girl comes to town to visit, will Jamie be able to make Tariana see him in a different light?
“Be sure not to settle for anything less in life.”
The story’s plot will include Christian principles and have the green-eyed monster making an appearance. It includes lessons in growing up, accepting responsibility, and even eating some humble pie. Tariana is a young woman, not yet eighteen, with stars in her eyes and unrealistic hopes that will be quashed. Just when she is ready to accept that it is time to move on, another girl enters the picture and causes issues. Jamie has been patient, hoping that Tariana will get over her infatuation with Michael and start to see him as more than just a friend. Will making Tariana jealous help? Or has he hurt her and their chances?
Jamie: Unpredictable means we’ll never be bored. I can live with that.
Tariana: Do couples not consider themselves friends?
Jamie: We will build our home the way we want it because I surely want to continue our friendship, but moreover, I will love and cherish you as a wife. I see it as a double victory for both of us.
Tariana: I never expected this to happen. I kind of hoped it might, but friends to lovers just seemed awkward.
The story is a clean historical tale with a great cast of characters, plenty of interaction, a touch of mystery, suspense, danger, and even life and death situations. There is a touch of good, bad, and ugly in people, with moral lessons, but never preachy.
Obsessed in Oregon is a fun addition to the Yours Truly: The Lovelorn series. I enjoyed the story, but had trouble relating to the main character, Tariana. Perhaps it’s our age difference, but I got frustrated with her selfishness. Fortunately, early in the story she begins a long and challenging journey to maturity, a road forces her to think of others besides herself and to take an honest look at her thoughts and behavior. Descriptions and cultural references immersed me in the story, and I enjoyed learning what it was like to live in this time period. It was a fascinating view of society and fun to see what they thought were modern and advanced items we now take for granted.
Wonderful story! Several lol parts, several times i wanted to just shake the main characters but find out if all pans out in the end as God has planned, even with the omg’s in the way!
