A new dystopian/post-apocalyptic series from a New York Times bestselling author
My name is Theo, and I’m a resident of Oasis, the last habitable area on Earth. It’s meant to be a paradise, a place where we are all content. Vulgarity, violence, insanity, and other ills are but a distant memory, and even death no longer plagues us.
I was once content too, but now I’m different. Now I hear a … now I’m different. Now I hear a voice in my head, and she tells me things no imaginary friend should know. Her name is Phoe, and she is my delusion.
Or is she?

Good story that had me guessing where the story was going pretty early. Not sure there is a follow-up to the story, but it was well written.
Dumb, I wasn’t able to finish it or even get 1/2 way through with it.
Took a little while to get rolling for me, but once it did, I was a happy and willing passenger. Oasis has some great interlocking themes, from mental health to survival. A very strong series start with an unexpected ending.
I never guessed the ending.
An Oasis is a bright place located in a desolate place. Fertile and lush in the midst of lifelessness. Theo, a twenty something young man, a youth by the stories standards has a friend. A voice inside his head. Only, it is real and not an imaginary. Theo also has normal friends and the interaction with one leads to the discovery of just who and where they are.
Admittedly, I was pretty quick to realize that Phoe (Fee) is an AI. I was not so quick to realize another important part of the plot. Here is a society that survives a cataclysmic event and must now exist in an isolated environment. Science can advance quickly and sometimes too quickly, putting life at risk. And, then there are those who deem progress to be avoided, but they embrace the technology that allows the to “magically” produce things they need. Nanite technology is prevalent throughout the city.
When one of Theo’s friends ceases to exist it is turmoil to overcome all the societal norms to learn why and how Phoe is who and what she is.
This was a page turner! I couldn’t put it down once I started it and I had to buy the other two books as soon as I finished it. Completely unexpected and amazingly written.
I could not stay interested. I tried to read it, but it just didn’t get my interest.
This is the first book in a series. What the next book brings will be a surprise.
Good plot and surprising twists!
Great for game players
I certainly wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book but I found that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Twists and turns with an interesting end result.
Appalling language
Was wonderful. Really made you think and imagine. And totally surprises you in the end. Definitely not what i was expecting. But totally left room to expand on it. Which is great. I need to read the next one!
The writing was catching. The pace moved along nicely.
Kind of long, stretched out unnecessarily
I thought this was a very interesting read. The plot was uncharacteristic of many fiction books today.
Didn’t hold my interest. Took to long to move into the story.
I enjoyed it. . Very original and likable characters. I’m getting tired of series that leave each book open ended
This book is a quick, easy read.
I kind of guessed that the society isn’t real, but I did not guess where they were living.
This book isn’t meant for someone who needs a plot with a lot of twists and turns, but it’s a nice read.
Although the book was nice, it was rather hard to follow. The plot was never clear, and I was constantly confused. However, I did enjoy the humor in the book.
