The Matchmaker’s Curse says if the mutant accepts the match, then his fated mate must die. If he doesn’t accept it, then he must die… No one has yet survived the curse. * * * The threat coming for Selena Irving has been stalking her family for years, ruining her parents’ lives and pushing her onto the warrior’s path. She’s the only female yet to qualify for the elite dark ops unit in the … dark ops unit in the Army called the Red Team, and while that shielded her for a little while, the nightmare’s begun again. Now she’s caught the eye of an alpha male with superpowers–her definition of trouble. Sexy-as-hell Bastion loves easily, laughs often, and cooks like a master chef. He’s also the only man to see through her defenses to the person she used to be…the woman she might have become had her past been different. Bastion, changed against his will into a mutant warrior, is on a mission to find those responsible for stealing his life, intent on stopping their plans to unravel humanity. He wasn’t looking for a mate, but he bonds with Selena the first time he sees her, activating a curse neither of them can escape. His only chance to break it is to ruthlessly burrow into her secrets, forcing her to face her hidden scars, helping her heal before the danger headed her way can use her past to take her down–and everyone she loves with her.

In O-Men: Liege’s Legion series, Bastion is the second installment, one that ties together two series, one about human warriors (The Red Team) and the other about altered human warriors (The Legion) with their common enemy, the Omni World Order.
The Omni’s secret agenda on forcing nanotechnology experimentations into humans as part of the military program is at the verge of being discover by the general world population due to a massive creation of deviant creatures that are attacking humans. Creations that led me to believe that there is a division in the Omni ranks that is acting on its own or not, but that needs to be stopped ASAP. Meanwhile scientists and researchers responsible for the creations and experimentations of the nanotechnology have been killed consistently in the past months causing a huge gap in knowledge about how to stop the deviant creations and the outside lab experimentations in female humans as we saw in the previous book.
Bastion and his altered human teammates are on a mission of observing the households that hold the special operations team, owned by Owen Tremaine and their families, where it is rumored that The Ratcliff, one of the best teams of scientists linked to the creation of the nanotechnology, is in cahoots with them. Then the unexpected happened, the Matchmaker presented himself to Bastion pointing out that his fated-mate is Selena, a human warrior in the Tremaine team, a team that could easily be another enemy.
Through highs and lows a beautiful romantic story was born between two very different beings whose pasts presented strongholds against a happy future, a future where they learn to trust themselves, each other and each other’s teams. I can’t wait for the next installment in 2020.
LOVED IT! If you like romantic suspense novels, you’ll LOVE this book. I’m actually glad I read the spoiler before reading Angel and Wynn of the Red Team series. The spoilers alerted me to read Leige’s Legion’s first two installments (Bastion being the second) prior to the last Red Team Series book. I think it’s BRILLIANT to tie these two series together…GREAT read!
Wow! Fast, exciting, suspenseful and even slightly terrifying read. It was nice to get this full story because having read the Red Team series we had a little bit of this in the last of those but from their perspective, Serena is strong and feisty determined to protect her team above all else, even if that means sacrificing herself to do that. The twists in this book also help make a lot of past troubles make sense. It is an intricate story and with all the different enhancements and the paranormal side it can get very complex, at times I needed to concentrate because a blink and you miss something that means the next bit doesn’t make sense, saying all that though I live for books that I can sink into and block everything else out. I love how patient and kind Bastion is not just with Serena but all of them, even when being threatened he tried to stay calm and explain, even understand where they were coming from. I am completely entwined with this series and the direction it is taking and will wait with baited breath for the next book, while still clapping my hands with glee. Glorious story full of fabulous characters and a phenomenal plot
Seriously this woman can stir up a frenzy of emotions. I laughed, cried and bit my nails. As a Red Team Series reader I was so excited about Selena’s story and I was not disappointed. The tie in was incredible and enjoyable. Bastion is a great character all the new Legion characters will be wonderful. This book answered so many questions and made me think of a bazillion more. I loved it and can’t wait for more. Acier the weapons man is who I want to meet next… Just have to wait for the next book. Thanks Elaine!
Elaine Levine has become such a world builder. What began in the Red Team slowly has become an epic adventure that continues to pull me in and leave me wanting more. The sinister Omni World Order is still making its presence known as the depths of their twisted world-view are becoming more well known and out in public. There is so much we don’t know, but we can see the sinister threads of their evil in many ways. The Red Team has done a great job of handling much of the threat but with the release of their DNA altered packs everything has turned up several levels. Now, the only way to fight the battles against OWO is by using the enhanced beings of Legion.
We met their leader Liege in the previous book, he’s a leader and his story was fast-paced and intriguing as this new series was started as an offshoot of the Red Team. I was eager to begin this series as a fan of Elaine’s storytelling and because I was invested in the characters. When you read an ongoing series where the stories are intertwined and you have walked adventures, crises, and mountain-top romance with people you need to know “what happens next”. And Liege let us be introduced into his cell of fighters: Bastion, Acier, Guerre, and Merc. We understand their change into who they are altered things for them, and their stories would shed light on where they came from but how they would overcome some of the alterations. However, their greatest strength is they can fight and beat what the OWO throws at them. They are the last defense.
In this book, the Red Team fully intertwines with Legion when Bastion and Selena (from the Red Team) come together. So. MUCH. Romance. There is so much to their story that to try to describe it would spoil it and not do it justice. Some of the sweetest interludes that literally bring tears to the eyes happen in this book. I am wondering if perhaps these altered humans have lost so much that when the feeling and emotions hit them they hit super hard and they embrace it more than a “regular” would because it means so much more to them. Either way Bastion has notched romantic lead up to a pretty high place. I’ve always had a fondness for fantasy/sci-fi and this totally marries these genres and Bastion is quite the hero. I sincerely hope we will get more of his charming dialogue, wit, and snark in upcoming books. Plus I feel his and Selena’s story is nowhere near finished with all that happened in this book. There is still so much to explore.
I highly recommend this book, but I would suggest reading The Red Team series first for all the situation and world-building that takes place.
Omg! Wow what an emotional and fantastic book from Ms Levine. I was on edge throughout the whole book! The suspense was incredible, the emotional toll was high but the highs were so worth it. Selena broke my heart but Bastion was her perfect partner. He gave her the strength to fight and reclaim her life. Wonderful book and series. I loved catching up with our RT guys and girls too.
I absolutely loved reading Bastion . This story is fantastic . It’s a masterfully written story . One of the best paranormal- thriller – romance suspense I have read . I have to say I’m in love with Bastion! I really enjoyed this second book n the O-Men Series. Bastion, the crazy French mutant, get a visit from the Matchmaker and his soulmate is the kick a$§ warrior Selena. Bastion is spying on the house and group Selena is involved with. He had to work really hard to get his woman because she has mega baggage. Plus Flynn is still out there sending his monsters out trying to kill the O-Men. There is lots of blood and fight, the pesky Matchmaker Curse, two teams fighting tone Omni consider forming an alliance, lots of kids and family and some hot steamy moments.
“Bastion” is the 2nd installment (Book 2) of the 0-Men: Liege’s Legion series and I dare say the most anticipated book to many of us Red Team readers. In this book we have Selena, a warrior in her own right from the Red Team series and Bastion, a mutant. Having failed with Liege and Summer (Book 1), the Matchmaker is at it again casting his Curse. It is a Death/Death situation unless our 2 lovers can find a way to beat the odds.
Bastion is picked up almost immediately where Liege left us, Elaine Levine’s magic did not disappoint us as she delivered another page-turner, putting blockades upon blockades, at times you can’t see how anything make sense but when the plot finally unravels, you’re left with a satisfying read but wanting for more. At times the Legion vs Red Team seemed a tad too tense for me but thank goodness for Val (from Red Team series) for providing us with a much needed humour, his comedic timing is the best and I guess that’s why Val has always been my favourite from the Red Team series. Please don’t hate me but at times I couldn’t stand Owen (the leader from Red Team), I do understand where he’s coming from but I feel like screaming at him to stop being such a hardass!
I love that Ms Levine waited this long to give Selena her better half because Bastion is absolutely perfect for her. I did find their coming together a tad too slow for me, I wanted the wheels to move faster. When Selena’s backstory was revealed, my heart broke for her. What happened to Selena could be a trigger for some readers, so I hoped there’s a warning about it somewhere in the blurb. She refused to give in but Bastion finally managed to get through to her. He handled her with such sensitivity and understanding. He knows when to push and when to stop. My favourite is the poem that he wrote, I had to stop as I was crying buckets. I could feel his yearning and his promise to her through that poem, it was just so beautiful.
This story is not without its flaws. I find that the ending is too rushed and abrupt. I like to see the progression of Selena’s changed, the struggles that she had to go through and Bastion’s reaction throughout the process. I would love to know the reaction of Selena and Bastion’s teams of the outcome of what happened to Selena. What happened to Hawk? I feel that it was left hanging.
All in all, I enjoyed this story and I highly recommend this to everyone.

I recived an ARC for my honst review….I have been looking forward to this book and I was not disappointed it had all the feels I loved it …all the feels
I love that Selena finally got her HEA and Bastion is perfect for her. There is so much going on in this story that a reread will need to happen but it is worth it. Action, twists, drama, intrigue, humor…..everything you expect from Ms. Levine.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
Bastion is book 2 in the O-Men: Liege’s Legion. This is a science fiction series that is a departure from Elaine’s normal work, but is so well done, I love it!
This is Bastion and Selena’s story. Their story begins in The Red Team Series, but you do not need to have read it prior to this story. Elaine did an amazing job bringing all of their previous scenes into this book. And OMG what a story it is!!!
This series brings us the “mutants” created by the Omni World Order. Through nanotechnology these men have become super soldiers with heightened senses, metaphysical and psionic abilities. She does a fascinating job explaining their extra human abilities. Changed against their will, they have formed a group of warriors whose goal is to save humanity. In their world is the myth of the Matchmaker.
“The Matchmaker’s Curse says if the mutant accepts the match, then his fated mate must die. If he doesn’t accept it, then he must die… No one has yet survived the curse.”
These warriors soon find out it’s no myth at all.
Bastion is one hot, sexy Frenchman! He is sent to spy on the Red Team to find out if they are fighting for or against the OWO. Here is where he meets his mate, Selena. Her journey began years ago when a tragic event from her past leads her to become a tough kick ass warrior. Underneath this warrior’s skin is a lonely soul who yearns for the love all of her other teammates have found. When these two finally meet in person, Selena is not happy with Bastion for spying on her team. While Bastion could be funny but a little obnoxious, he is soon winning Selena over with his sensitive romantic heart. However, their nemesis Brett Flynn is back and has set his sights on Selena and the Red Team. Can the team learn to fight this changing OWO and still remain the same? Will Selena and Bastion find a way to break the Matchmaker’s curse?

I have to be honest here, the first half of the book bored me to tears. Usually it takes me couple of days to finish a book, however I just could not get into this one. I loved that we got to see the characters from Elaine Levine’s Red Team series, but I found that the romance between Bastion and Selena was extremely slow burn for majority of the plot and then out of nowhere it did a complete 180. One moment Selena wasn’t trusting Bastion’s intentions and was even half convinced that he raped her while he was in his astral body, and the next she left the safe house because he has been hurt and she needed to make sure he was okay. It was a bit unbelievable to me to be honest.
I did like the second half of the book, the action picked up a lot and that is the reason why this is getting three stars from me and not less. I do hope though that the red team will not take the modifications. I like them just the way they are.
I so enjoyed Bastion’s story. I found it fast paced and engaging. I love a book with a great cast of characters and this one certainly does. You get a loveable hero, a fierce heroine, and a fantastic villain. I cannot wait for the next book.

This is book 2 in this series and I enjoyed this story a lot better than book 1. This is a fairly fast-moving story and the characters seem likable in it. Lots of adventure and more world building in this book.

Book two in the O-Men: Liege’s Legion -Bastion, is the perfect blend of our favorite Red Team members with the men from Liege’s Legion. As a huge Red Team fan, I expected a lot from this new series. Liege’s book was a full on paranormal book that explained, in great detail, the enhancements forced on the Legion. Through her writing, Elaine showed us the horror of the ghouls and the depravity of those in charge of them.
We met Bastion at the end of the Red Team Series and we are aware that he is different. In Bastion’s story, Elaine continues by “reuniting” Selena from the Red Team and Bastion from Leige’s legion. We get to know the two as individuals. The “feel” of this story is less full on paranormal and more espionage-like. World politics, personal vendettas and the military have all come together as the Omni World Order evolves into a terrifying subculture for which the world is not prepared.
While Liege’s book gives us a glimpse at the horrors of this new world order, Bastion truly opens the reader’s eyes to just how desperate the situation has become. The men of Leige’s Legion have already lost so much. Change is coming and no one will be safe. The question is, will combining the forces of these two teams work to make a difference?
I can’t wait to keep reading the rest of this series to find out!
Bastion has met his heart and she is a fighter for the human Red team. Selena is everything that Bastion has prayed for. This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Elaine Levine; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

The involvement of the red team was like visiting an old friend. Selena is a true warrior, fighting both physical and emotional battles. I visualise Bastion as an enhanced version of Porthos.

This is the second book in the men of Liege series but this entire world is linked to the Red Team world which is where we first met Selena and Bastion. I have loved these series from the very first and am now loving how intertwined the two teams are becoming.
Selena was sure she was going insane she kept on seeing and feeling a man but no other member of her team ever saw him and with the security on their compound there is no way anyone could infiltrate it anyway. What she doesn’t know is that the man watching her is Bastion and he is no mere mortal he is one of the turned military personal that has escaped the world of the omni and is bent on saving humans from the threat of the omni. For that they need the scientists the Radcliffe’s and they think that the red team know where they are so Bastion has been sent to infiltrate something it isn’t hard for him to do with his altered abilities what is hard for him to do is to keep away from Selena as the matchmaker has appeared before him and he knows she is his mate. Will the red team and the Liege men work together Do Selena and Bastion have a future You will have to read to see I would recommend that you read all of the books in order so you get the full depth of this world
