Numbers is book fourteen in the New Species series by Laurann Dohner.
I like this series, but I was disappointed that we don’t get one full length novel. We have two stories on two different New Species in Numbers. They are quick and emotional.

Morn doesn’t believe taking a human female will help him heal.
This story tug’s at your heart strings. The emotional turmoil is vivid and, we as the reader, can’t help but empathize and get caught up in their sizzling chemistry. Dana meets Mourn when she visits Homeland. Both her and Mourn have lost someone in their past and so, they are hesitant about beginning a relationship. There is plenty of chemistry and emotion.

Hero comes face to face with his past.
This story tug’s at your heart too. What Candi and Hero went through in their past was heartbreaking. Candi doesn’t know that Hero is alive and it’s the same for Hero. She wants revenge for the male she lost and her only hope is reaching Homeland, but once she does her world is changed. There is major uproar and quite a bit of tension and emotional distress between Candi and Hero before they resolve their relationship.
Numbers is a nice edition. Though I prefer the full length novel. I still enjoyed coming back to the New Species world.

Let me hold your hand
This story may not be as long as the other books in the series, but I was lost in the world of the New Species from the first page. I loved how the author used elements from other books and incorporated them into this one. These two characters have seen the darkness in the world and still managed to find their HEA. If that doesn’t instill hope, I don’t know what would. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The dead shall live again
This book is such an emotional experience. I couldn’t help but cry during several parts. The author outdid herself when she took on the different aspects of this story. I love how it all came together and how the New Species rallied behind the characters. I can’t wait to read the next book the author creates in this series.

Finally! I’ve been waiting for my New Species fix. Laurann never disappoints me. I was a bit nervous going in as I’m not a fan of novellas, but Laurann succeeded in keeping me satisfied. I always live in the moment with NS characters, feeling every emotion with them. The story was well rounded but left me wanting more, then again I always want more. Keep them coming please.
The first story was just okay, but Hero’s story was brilliant. I loved the idea of Candidates so much. I simply wished the whole book could have been written about them.
I have read the entire series and loved it. Each story is unique and inspiring in its own way. The writing as well done & creative. I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the full effect and to have a real appreciation for it.
This was the only book of the series I hadn’t read yet. It’s been a few years and it just reminded me how much I enjoy Laurann’s books. Loved it.
