Being bad never felt so good…The office is full of rules. Making a charity calendar of the hot guys on your floor? Not allowed. Shrinking your boss’ underwear when he sends it for dry cleaning? Can’t do that either. But those things preserve the natural order. Because Avery Banks, our resident rising star, is a shark. The tall, blond, and gorgeous kind with zero patience and even less … zero patience and even less forgiveness.
Good thing I’m the Mae West of executive assistants. I live to put grown men in their place.
He wasn’t supposed to find out.
Now he’s made it his personal mission to screw me the way I screwed him. I’m at his beck and call for every humiliating request.
Until we stumble on a new game. One we both want to play. One we both need to win.
And once we start…Avery doesn’t want to replace me. I don’t want him to.
All I want is more of this. The fire under the ice. What happens behind closed doors.
It’s twisted, and so damn hot. But he’s my boss. And with the company coming off a scandal even I couldn’t engineer? What we’re doing is strictly NSFW.
Lucky for me, Avery and I have one thing in common…
We both suck at following the rules.

Loved the storyline. Will look out for the others in the series now.
What a fabulous office romance that had me laughing out loud. Charlie is so much more than an office assistant, she is a gutsy, take-charge, push the envelope kind of woman. She works for Avery and his high and mighty attitude has her pulling pranks on him to knock him down a bit. Really, replacing his underwear with a size smaller, who thinks of that? Loved it. What Charlie doesn’t realize is that Avery is standoffish to her because he is so attracted to her. When one of her pranks goes too far, he fires her but needs her help for a few weeks to prepare the companies big client event. When these two finally get honest with each other, the sparks fly and the romance is combustible because they were both holding back. But Charlie still needs to find a new job, really figure out her true passion. When the event is success, it looks like she will stay at the bank but Avery is against it. When she finally walks out of his life, will Avery realize the error of his ways. I never knew what to expect from Charlie, she is a breath of fresh air and is the perfect balance to Avery’s seriousness. I loved escaping into their whirlwind romance.
Cover: This cover is all about the title. It’s a catching one. It already tell us so much of the story. When you read NSFW the first thing you want to do is look at it. It is a warning, but usually has the contrary effect. The title is big with a popping color, at the back you see a couple in a shadowy background. I really like it!
Plot: It is a fast-paced read that kept me guessing until the end and I’ve ended wanting more.
Characters: Great characters. Charlotte is over the top, but it comes from a good place. The author explain her story and her sarcasm is sort of weapon. She is easy to like, relate and understand. Definitely a good friend type of character. Avery is workaholic, but his life has made him like this. He is also hot and caring.
Heat: This book has the perfect amount of heat. It was obvious from the first page of the book that their chemistry was over the top, they just had to find their way to each other. When they got there, BOOM! So many good scenes! Closet, forest, tree, bathroom… YES!
Freshness: This is a huge plus for me in this book. There are so many office relationship books out there, but Ms. Lawson brings something totally new, unique.
Addictiveness: I couldn’t put down the book. It was a fast fun read!
(My full review is on my blog)
This book is fun from start to finish! If you read the book PLAY, you already know just a bit about Charlie and Avery. If you haven’t read it (and I do recommend it because it’s a fun book), it’s still easy enough to read this book even though some characters from that book appear here. If you’ve read PLAY, you already know some of the pranks Charlie has done to Avery.
One thing I liked about this book is that we’re not subjected to witnessing the pranks Charlie pulled, but we do get glimpses of some of her stunts, and the repercussions of her actions. Some might say that Charlie seems immature, and that might possibly be true, but that behavior is only reserved for Avery. With everyone else she’s a tried and true friend. She didn’t have to take Rose (New Girl) under her wing, and she’s always there for Payton. And I loved the relationship she has with her grandmother. Charlie is that type of person that people are drawn to; she may be unconventional at times, but she does know how to get stuff done.
I gotta say that Avery comes off as an ass for the first few chapters, but the more you read and get to know him, the more you see that under the hard exterior, is somehow yet another semi-solid exterior, with only an extremely select group of people who know the real him (and by extremely select group, I mean EXTREMELY lol). All Avery’s worried about is the big picture, he doesn’t take the time to see the details that come together to create the big pic, until Charlie becomes his assistant. The more time they’re together, the more his viewpoints begin to change.
I will say that one issue for Charlie has to do with going back to her hometown; that was mentioned a few times in the story, yet we don’t get to see how that actually played out until the epilogue, but at that point we just get told she went back home, so I would have liked to have seen that actual visit and how everything went down.
You’d think that now Avery’s eyes have been opened it’d be smooth sailing for him and Charlie to be a couple right? Well, you’ll just have to read to find out what happens for these two.
