From USA Today Bestselling author KL Donn comes Nowhere to Run, book 3 in her military romance series, Task Force 779. Nightmares and monsters are supposed to remain in the dark. Thought of, frightened from, but never seen. Lola Bishop has suffered more tragedy in her short time on this earth than most have in an entire lifetime. She lost her parents when she was young, consoled the members of … her parents when she was young, consoled the members of her brother’s elite team when they thought a member was dead, and finally found her best friend’s body.
How much more could she possibly take?
Theo Burkhart excels at all he tries. Most sought after recon sniper in the Marines, he joined Task Force 779 with his best friend to become a part of something bigger. He wanted to make an impact on the world.
Not fall in love with his commander’s little sister.
When he gets the call that Lola needs him, Theo drops everything to be at her side. She’s strong, yet fragile in so many ways. The girl he’s loved for years is begging to find the good in the world, and he’s only too happy to help.
The only question is, will it be enough when one more obstacle is thrown their way or will Lola crack for good this time?
Just a heads up: While my stories carry their share of violence and adult situations, this one, in particular, touches on some socially prevalent issues that may be upsetting to readers.

There are no words to describe the pain the comes off of each page of this book! KL Donn has written a story about survival in it’s truest form.
Lol and Theo’s story is one that I’ve been waiting for since the last book and KL didn’t disappoint. These two characters broke my heart into a thousand pieces and slowly put it back together over the course of each chapter.
No spoilers her but make sure you have a fresh box of tissues while reading this book. I highly recommend starting at the beginning of this series because it’s amazing, but this can be read as a stand alone.
Nowhere to Run is book 3 in the Task Force 779 series by KL Donn. There are so many emotions in this masterpiece that I don’t know where to begin. Lola…man has she been through the wringer. She has had so much loss that I’m not sure how she is still standing. But I’m sure that it’s because Theo is standing behind her, filling her soul with his never wavering love. This book gutted me and then made me whole. It is my absolute favorite of the series and I’m not sure how KL will top this one, although I’m sure she will give it her all. I’m ready for the next one to get here and I’m excited to get to know more about Theo’s brother, Reed, in Possesive Neighbor coming September 2020!!
Lola & Theo
No matter how old, no one should have to live with all the tragedies Lola has; loss of parents, her lifetime best friend, and more. Her only family is a brother in a special military team who goes on life-threatening missions. The man she loves is on her brother’s team. Not that she has told even Theo about her feelings. She is amazed when he holds her in her abject sorrow, slipping in tender words that let her know her feelings are shared by Theo.
While the story is filled with angst and unthinkable pain, it also shows love in many different ways. While loss can be debilitating, fighting hard a person can get through the sorrow.
The story is touching with amazing characters who have strength beyond possible and love of family bonds not only of blood but friendship and more. A touching story I strongly recommend.
Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
I have just finished this book, well in fairness I finished over two hours ago and I have been sat soaking this book in. Soaking in ever feeling that this book pulls from you. This author is a queen at making you feel EVERYTHING!! And believe me I did.
By the end of the first chapter my heart had hit the floor along with the tears rolling down my face. And the hits just keep coming!
Theo, that man, be still my heart. He can say the exact moment his feelings changed for Lola, he has just been waiting for her to catch up. Lola is Nix’s sister and she is the first to be there for those she cares about. This couple!!! This book!! Emotions pouring off every page, that had me struggling for breath at times.
There is so much I could say but I won’t because I don’t want to give spoilers. I am sorry if this review makes no sense but to be honest I have lost my use of speech after reading this book!
This author is a total Queen!!
S
It’s heavy, it’s amazing and it will make you cry! I’m not going to give anything away. Lola and Theo have an incredible journey. It’s a roller coaster ride, but one I promise you want to be on.
“Nowhere to Run” is book three in the ‘Task Force 779’ series by K. L. Donn. On multiple levels, it’s an emotionally powerful story. The books in this series center around members of a highly secretive Special Ops team that reports directly to the President of the United States. You don’t need to have read the previous books in the series in order to enjoy this one, but they’re both very good so you really should consider checking them out.
Lola is the much younger sister of Nix, the team leader of the task force. She’s an adult and finishing up her nursing degree but the other members of the team still view her as a ‘little sister’ … all except for Theo, the elite sniper who is also her brother’s best friend. Theo has been in love with her for a couple of years but has kept his distance and kept quiet about it because he wants to finish college and establish herself before he expresses his romantic interest in her. He’s clueless to the fact that she feels the same way about him. If you now think this is simply a ‘forbidden little sister’ or ‘brother’s best friend’ story, you’re very much mistaken because it’s so much more than that!
During her life, Lola has had to cope with a lot of tragedy and stress. I’m not revealing anything that’s not already in the book blurb when I mention that in addition to everything she’s already dealt with and must continue to handle, she now discovers the lifeless body of her best friend. It’s a crushing blow that shatters her soul. She starts to doubt and question everything about herself. Theo doesn’t hesitate to immediately prioritize her over everything in his life so he can be there for her in any way possible. This is a story about the meaning of life and death, the rippling effect of the choices we make, the burden of guilt and regret, and the transformative power of unconditional love. Lola and Theo are wonderful, multi-dimensional characters. The secondary characters include the other members of the Team, Theo’s parents, the parents of Lola’s best friend, and a sweet service dog. All of them contribute to really rounding out the story.
I frequently warn other readers when I think they should have a tissue ready before reading a particular book. Well, for this story I suggest you get a whole box of tissues! Don’t let that make you think this is a depressing story, because ultimately, it’s actually uplifting and inspirational. The author does a great job weaving in just the right amount of humor, sweetness and passion to balance the tougher emotions. There are hints given that the next book will be about Nix, and I’m really looking forward to it!
Lola, Lola. From the very beginning I could already feel the tension and the pain and the anxiety. This touches on a sensitive subject and can be triggering. It gutted me but KL Donn does it in a way that’s sensitive and makes you feel everything. I felt the pain and the loss and I broke down along with Lola. As much as this is a Task Force 779 story, this is more about Lola and her coming to terms with everything in her life. It’s a story of moving forward and growing from loss. She’s so strong but vulnerable and the only person there for her at her time of need is Theo.
“For Lola Bishop, I would have waited forever. Forever came around yesterday, and now, it’s our time.” – Theo
I fell in love with him for his understanding to allow her to grow but also for not waiting too long and knowing that he couldn’t not claim her anymore. I love their passion, his devotion, and their love.
That conversation Lola had with Sam had me balling my eyes out. But among the roller coaster, there is always good. I about had a heart attack when Asher and Ares make an appearance; and I just love that we see Ares and Arianna!
This book is such an emotional roller coaster that even at the end, I was crying. But it was finally from happiness. The road to healing was hard for Lola but she always had people that love her surrounding her and the extra two set of parents that were there for her also helped. It took me a few days to actually write down my review and even as I was writing it, I was crying.
KL has outdone herself with this one.
Nowhere to Run is book three is the Task Force 779 series. It can be read as a standalone. I hadn’t realized until I finished the story that it was book 3. I’m definitely hooked on this series and going to read more of it. The members of Task Force 779 are more like brothers then coworkers. They are a tight crew. Theo is a good guy. His mom wants him to settle down and give her grand babies and he know exactly who he wants to settle down with. I liked that he had a little alpha edge but it wasn’t over the top. He’s the prefect mix of strong and sweet. Lola is the sister of the Task Force commander. She’s grown up with the guys, most of them are like brothers to her. Theo likes her and she has a crush on Theo but he’s waiting for the right to time to start something with her. Lola is currently have a rough go with things and it’s time for Theo to let her know where he stands. I loved these two together. They are perfect and they are both what each other need.
4 1/2 Stars!!
Lola is the little sister of the group as she is Nix’s (the team’s commander) little sister that he has had guardianship of since she was 9 years old and their parents were killed. Now though, she is all grown up and in nursing school with her bestie, Sam, and she is harbouring a healthy crush on Theo, one of her brother’s team mates. Apart from missing Nix and Theo when they get deployed, her life is pretty ok despite her losses. All that is blown to smithereens though when she finds Sam… dead. With her brother away on a mission she calls the next person she loves, Theo, who drops everything and runs straight to her.
Theo has been in love with Lola for a little while now but a few things have held him back, the fact she’s his commander and friend’s little sister and her age being the main reasons; at 14 years her senior he wants her to live life a little before he makes his feelings known. That plan gets thrown out the window though when he gets the call she needs him and he doesn’t hesitate to take control. He will care for her, he will comfort her and he will love her. But what will happen when Nix finds out? Will they even have a chance when not only is Lola grieving but yet another tragedy hits?
Yet again I really enjoyed this. There’s no lull anywhere in these stories and I can’t put them down until I get to the end. I can’t wait for more as there’s still a few characters that need their own stories, especially Nix after the events of his mission in this book. I give Nowhere to Run 5 stars.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. I love, love, loved this book. KL Donn knows how to write amazing stories and Nowhere to Run is no exception. The third book in Task Force 779 has Theo and Lola’s relationship played out. From meeting when she was a young girl to realizing that they love each other, their story is as tragic as it is beautiful. Deeply intense, heartbreak and sadness, love and lust, danger and intrigue, Nowhere to Run has it all. Definitely recommend reading this book!
Nowhere To Run is book 3 in the Task Force 779 series by K.L. Donn. This is Theo Burkhart and Lola Bishop’s story. Theo and Lola’s story is going to rip your heart apart but will piece it back together and it will be stronger for it. Trust Me!! This story is going to take you on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride that you will need many the Kleenex tissues for but it’s worth it. Theo and Lola…they are worth all the angst, tears, drama, pain, heartbreak, fears, loss, action, passion, romance and love. This is what is what military romance is supposed to be! I can’t wait for the next book in the Task Force 779 series.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
I have no words!!! This story broke me and then made me whole again. Lola and Theo’s is gut wrenching and painful but also full of strength and survival. Every minute of the book is a roller coaster of emotions and man did I cry a lot. Cannot yell your just how incredible this writer is. The plot, the characters and the depth that the story gets to is amazing and you can’t stop turning the pages. Definitely a must read!!!!
Nowhere To Run is the story, I’ve been looking forward to read. Lola and Theo, have been teasing us with their secret longing looks, and the pull they have towards eachother. But now Lola needs Theo more than ever, and he’s done hiding what he feels for his woman. My gosh this story gutted me, it’s made me feel so many emotions, and my heart hurt for poor Lola. Their story isn’t without some obstacles, the Task Force 779 team tries to help out. This is such a good story.
*4.5 stars*
Take the warnings seriously, bring Kleenex…
Oh this story broke my heart! I don’t know if it just hit the right spot or I was in the mood for an ugly cry but that’s what happened… Splotchy eyes, unhappy nose and a crying-induced headache later I finished this read that made me so happy! I know, it doesn’t make sense but when you read Lola and Theo’s story, it will all become clear…
Tragedy was nothing new to Lola but this, this was a heartbreaker. Luckily, this was the push Theo needed to finally declare his feelings for her, his team’s leader. How they came together was sweet and sultry, a balm to my poor heart that was being pummeled so much… Lola was a surprisingly strong character, despite the men in her life stressing her fragility. Theo was there for her in those many dark moments, supportive and loving. He was just what she needed, at the most perfect time…
A beautiful love story with harsh lows that made the romance that much sweeter. And worth all that Kleenex!

This amazing book had me in tears. I was not expecting some if the reactions. This was such a caring story. This was not what I was expecting. Lola and Theo were written to perfection. If you have not already pick this up you should get it and read. I couldn’t put this book down until I was done!
Nowhere to run is the newest book in the task force series by KL Donn. This is an emotional read. Get ready to cry tissues needed. Theo and Lola come and join them on there emotional journey to true love.
She was always the strong one, on the outside. She kept her pain, turmoil, and fears inside. She only shared them with one person and then he was gone. Now she feels all alone in the world. The one man she is in love with doesn’t want her. She is broken now more than ever and the only person she can think of to call is the man she loves, but is he taking care of her because he feels obligated to? He works for her big brother and has been the little sister to all of the men on Nix’s Team. Lola is the little sister of the Team that takes missions all over the world to save people and do the jobs that others can’t. She has always hidden her fears of her big brother Nix not coming home as well as the others on the Team, but especially Theo, the one man that holds her heart. She pushed herself into her best friends’ life in high school. Sam had walls so high that Lola had to dig deep to get him to drop those walls.
Sam was the only one sitting at the outcast table in the lunchroom when Lola entered for lunch on her first day of school. She wasn’t afraid to sit with him, nor was she afraid to draw his attention, he looked like he needed someone to talk to and she knew that she could jump those walls and have them dropped, it just took a while to accomplish. Sam struggled with who he was and what he wanted; he was also the student that was bullied because he didn’t know who he was. He endured it for as long as he could and in college the day finally came that he couldn’t pretend anymore, nor could he take the bullying or pain that he had been enduring all of his life.
Theo started looking at Lola as a woman when she was seventeen, but he wanted her to have her life and find her path in life before he decided to let her know his feelings. The only people who didn’t know how he felt about her was Nix and Lola. The rest of the Team guys knew he had feelings for her more than a little sister, even Sam knew. So when he received a call from the police that there was an accident and she needed him he dropped what he was doing and ran to her. Now he wasn’t going to let go of her ever.
I loved this story. It started out with a bang and didn’t slow down at all. The pain, struggles, and despair in this story were so strong. The story showed the struggles that some people endure for as long as they can before that breaking point. Lola has dealt with a lot of loss and pain in her young life, but she finds that she is a strong young woman and she has a lot of support to help her through the tough time that she is going through this time. Theo only wants to protect her and take away her pain, but he knows that the only way to do that is to show her that he will always be there for her. This latest loss and destruction that she is trying to come out of could just destroy her for the rest of her life, but Theo and the Team are determined to show her that she will come through this too. I give this story a 5-star review and strongly suggest this book and series to readers who enjoy stories of military, strong women, or action-packed pages. Ms. Donn’s books are full of action, passion, destruction, loyalty, and wonderful characters.
Lola and Theo have an amazing story that is both heartbreaking and soothes the soul at the same time. Lola has so much heartbreak in her life and Theo is the ultimate alpha protector and I was thrilled to get this story about them. This is an intense read that will take the reader on quite a journey that will never let you go.
“Forever came around yesterday, and now, it’s our time.”
I have been a total KL Donn stalker fan for years, i own and have read (repeatedly) everything this lady has ever published with that being stated this is one of my absolute favorites that she has ever wrote.
Lola and Theo’s story is heartbreaking. It is enduring. And finally it is absolutely tear jerking.
Their love story is truly a roller coaster of emotions. The total devastation that Lola faces once again is heart breaking. I cannot fathom everything that Lola has endured. She has lost so much in her short life, and this last blow may be what totally destroys her.
Theo has loved Lola from a distance for a while now and even though he wasn’t sure when they would be a couple he is now. Lola needs him just as much as Theo needs Lola. Theo will be there for Lola and she will heal…
Get the tissues nearby and ready! KL Donn has done it again! This book is going to tear you up, but in the best way! It is an emotional roller coaster, and it will take you for a ride.
There is a trigger warning at the beginning of the book.
Theo and Lola. They are adorable together! I loved reading about the two of them and all their troubles. They go through so much. I had been wondering about Lola and what her story would be like, and it did not disappoint! I highly recommend you read this book! However, it is not a standalone, and you should definitely read the previous books to better understand the characters and storyline.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
