Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon–and simultaneously his novel–be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?more
No spoilers, just read it!!!
Every Colleen Hoover book I’ve read has ended the same way … WITH ME LOSING SLEEP.
They all start out average enough, yet before I know it, I’m hooked.
I kept having to see “just one more November 9” until there were no more. Sucked me in just like all the rest.
Well played, Hoover, well played.
Honestly, this book was refreshing to read. The main characters managed to poke fun at some of the things that seem to land in SO MANY romance novels without actually making fun of the genre, if that makes sense.
Hoover also, as always from what I’ve seen of her writing, manages to work in REAL issues we face every day, and does it in a way that it should go over NO ONE’s head. For example, reading this one you really CANNOT miss two things: the joke that is healthcare in America and the superficiality and misplaced priorities of Hollywood.
She does this in a way that it completely fits into the story but even the lamest of minds can’t be missing it (I hope).
So seriously, Hoover: WELL PLAYED.
Brilliant.
This one was pretty clean, only a couple of typos noted. All of hers are mostly clean but I do usually note more errors than I did here. And I usually challenge continuity in a couple of small details, there was none of that here. It was predictable, so not a full 5 stars, but close. Probably somewhere around 4.9.
All time favorite.
November 9 This was my first Colleen Hoover book. And the one that completely changed my life. It has brought me to a wonderful community where I’ve found so many of my most favorite authors. So, thank you Colleen Hoover!
So I actually read this book before Ugly Love, which is out of order, even though they’re both technically standalones. But I loved this book so much, so HARD that I read Ugly Love almost right after.
Anyone who’s read Colleen Hoover’s books knows that she’s skilled in the art of getting you to think one thing is happening, and then charging out of left field with a plot twist. This is why she’s the queen. My all-time favorite romance author, or actually my favorite AUTHOR period. She’s incredible at what she does, getting us to feel what the characters feel, experience what they experience.
Benton James Kessler is a book boyfriend I won’t soon forget. The journey that he and Fallon go on together is one that kept twisting my stomach, in good ways and in bad. I’ll never forget when Fallon realizes that he said “we”… Ugghhh my godddd my stomach dropped right out of me onto the floor. I literally FELT what she felt. It was so awful, but also pretty damn incredible that Colleen was able to do that with her written words.
Don’t know what I’m talking about? Read this book! No, read Ugly Love then this one right after. You won’t regret it, I assure you.
I don’t know where Colleen Hoover gets her ideas to write a book, but this storyline was just AMAZING! Feeling all of the emotions 100%. Loved this one like all the others!!!
Great read
I HEART Colleen Hoover – have from her first book Slammed. Ms Hoover is an author who brings originality and life to each of her stories. I listened to November Nine on Audible. I loved the story. I laughed. I cried. My heart swelled more times than the Grinch’s. The story portrays all human emotions from love to hatred to guilt and joy. It’s heart-wrenching and heart-warming – sometimes at the same time.
The only flaw was in the audio book version. The female narrator spoke in such a long drawn out voice that it was sometimes hard to listen to her. I held on though because I knew the story would be oh-so-worth-it! And it was.
This book is my FAVORITE! Great read; really keeps you on your toes!
Clever, romantic, and did I mention clever? One of Colleen Hoover’s best.
When I hesitate to rate a book 5 stars, that usually means it was more a 4 star read. I love Ben, and I like Fallon. But the drama towards the end I didn’t like that much. It has an original storyline. However just like with Confess I wish the book was longer.
This book started so good, I was really curious of how everything would play out between Ben and Fallon. But towards the end it didn’t excite me as much as it did in the beginning. After reading/seeing so many 5+ star reviews I expected a bit more. Maybe my reading standards are just HIGH, but I wouldn’t feel right giving this book 5 stars because it didn’t provoke as many emotions as the books I rated 5 stars did. Also the way the book was set up made it hard for me to feel a connection with the characters.
Can I give November 9th nine stars? OMG! I loved the whole premise with how Fallon and Ben met. Loved each November 9th that they got together. But be prepared for the Sixth November 9th. Nothing, and I mean nothing (not even Jamie Dornan Barr chested in his Red Room Christian Grey jeans) could tear me away from finishing this book. The twists and turns. The tears (from me)! There needs to be a warning that Kleenex should be purchased along with this book. ALL. THE. FEELS.
How?! How does Colleen do it?! Time and time again she writes these unbelievable stories that are so farfetched as to be realistic! She drags you in. She builds you up. Then, she tears it all apart. She breaks your heart. She makes you love, trust and then makes you fall. You fall so hard you break apart. You cry. You ugly cry. You hurt. Whatever you expect, she takes you in a completely different, unexpected direction that tears you up into little, tiny, broken pieces. I can never read her books when they are first released. I have to wait. Wait until I am emotionally ready because I do not look forward to the heartbreak I will soon feel when I delve in to the cover and read the first words. She always grabs you from the very first sentence, the first paragraph, the first page and then she doesn’t let you go. There is a rhythm to her stories. A wave of emotion you must ride only to come out wondering what the heck she was thinking. How could she write something so intense? Especially when she swears she does not have all the feels?! How?!
The story of Fallon and Benton is no exception. It starts off as crazy as all the other stories. You fall in love with the characters, you watch them grow, then Colleen takes them to a place you did not foresee and breaks your heart in all the worst and best ways. That is all I can say without giving anything away.
This novel is one of the many reasons I LOVE reading Colleen Hoover book. Hell it’s one of the reasons I love reading itself!!!
My lady boner for CoHo just got even bigger. This book is by far my favorite. I’m hungover. Ben did me in. I have feels everywhere and I can’t stop thinking about this book days later. The only thing I care about (besides my love for this book)is my bestie read it and absolutely loved it. I’ve been trying to get her to read CoHo for about 2 years now. This was her first book and she loved it, so my work here is done. My life is now complete.
I absolutely LOVED this book. I was stuck on Hopeless and everything I read after was great, but not my first love. This book changed that! This is one of my favorite Colleen Hoover books. The plot is well thought out and captivating. Excellent read!
What can I say? I have yet to read a Colleen Hoover book that I did not absolutely love! I had an author recently say that the gushing 5 star reviews are less helpful to authors, than an honest 3 star that says what they liked and what could have been improved on. I would LOVE to be able to help someone like Colleen, but I just have nothing bad to say…I can’t imagine this book being any better than it was.
I loved the initial premise of the story. A relationship that is so unique to anything I’ve read or seen before. I thought it was cute how it was obvious that they liked each other but they both dismissed what they called “insta-love.” I adored the way they each wanted to see the other pursue their own dreams no matter what that meant for the future of their “relationship.” I’m a huge fan of characters supporting the other in that selfless way.
Ben and Fallon separately are very strong characters. They each have their own pasts that they are trying to deal with and overcome. They each have a passion that drives them and the motivation to chase their dreams. Each of them are interesting to read and make you invested in the character. You want to know how their life will turn out. You’re rooting for them in their passion and in their relationship.
When the big twist comes, because come on, you know there is going to be one, I was floored. I was heartbroken because even while I saw why there was anger, I still wanted things to work out. My emotions went through the ringer in this book (same as with any CoHo book I’ve read) and I’m honestly still processing.
If you love an emotional roller coaster kind of book, one that’s real and honest and makes you FEEL, you will love any Hoover book and November 9 is no exception.
I love Colleen Hoover, she can do no wrong. And she did right again with thus book. I lived it from the first page.
