Two lonely towns in Colorado: Hope and Despair. Between them, twelve miles of empty road. Jack Reacher never turns back. It’s not in his nature. All he wants is a cup of coffee. What he gets is big trouble. So in Lee Child’s electrifying new novel, Reacher—a man with no fear, no illusions, and nothing to lose—goes to war against a town that not only wants him gone, it wants him dead. It …
It wasn’t the welcome Reacher expected. He was just passing through, minding his own business. But within minutes of his arrival a deputy is in the hospital and Reacher is back in Hope, setting up a base of operations against Despair, where a huge, seething walled-off industrial site does something nobody is supposed to see . . . where a small plane takes off every night and returns seven hours later . . . where a garrison of well-trained and well-armed military cops—the kind of soldiers Reacher once commanded—waits and watches . . . where above all two young men have disappeared and two frightened young women wait and hope for their return.
Joining forces with a beautiful cop who runs Hope with a cool hand, Reacher goes up against Despair—against the deputies who try to break him and the rich man who tries to scare him—and starts to crack open the secrets, starts to expose the terrifying connection to a distant war that’s killing Americans by the thousand.
Now, between a town and the man who owns it, between Reacher and his conscience, something has to give. And Reacher never gives an inch.

I just love the Jack Reacher books!
One of the better Reacher books. Always a good read!
Good book, but somewhat repetitive of other Reacher books. Maybe the next one could return to his Army days.
Ack Reacher fan.
Unrealistic. Character is a superhero without cape.
Lee Childs is dependable in the quality of his writing. This is another in the Jack Reacher series.
Jack is caught between Hope and Despair–literally. He begins in Hope and returns on a quest after he is denied a meal, a cup of coffee, a hotel, and is arrested on vagrancy. He has never been in a town so negative or so unwelcoming. But, in true Reacher fashion, that alone is enough to make him question…Why are they so eager to make anyone who comes to town leave?
Of course, just being denied coffee would be enough–it’s his lifeblood. Knowing Reacher, he’s normally easy going — just don’t cross him. He will discover WHY he is ejected from Despair.
Yep, yep yep!
You can’t go wrong with any of Lee Child’s books. All action packed!!!
I read the entire series. I couldn’t put them down I was on the edge of my seat. Very entertaining and well written.
One of Reacher’s best adventures. A keeper.
Meets all expectations
Reacher is always entertaining to read.
Have read the Reacher books. Can’t wait for the next one.
always a “can’t put down”; exciting story line, informative, well researched and no vulgarity or gratuitous sex.
love reacher
I love all Jack Reacher books!!
With a strong central character like Jack Reacher, you never get tired of the action. Reacher is dark, tough, noble, honest, and lives by his own code and his instincts. Each story is a bit of a travelogue as the plot develops into an action packed outcome.
If Mr. Childs could write a ‘Reacher’ a week… I would read naught but he.
Lee Child is brilliant! I enjoy every book I read!
