Reagan Reynolds…Water polo god.Owner of a face that belongs under Wikipedia’s definition of drop dead gorgeous.Too charming for his own good. But most importantly––the worst driver on the planet. No, really, I’m pretty sure his blind nana taught him how to drive.I had no idea who he was until he almost ran me over. And frankly, I kind of wish I still didn’t because then I wouldn’t have a sprained … because then I wouldn’t have a sprained ankle to show for it. And my leg wouldn’t resemble a boa constrictor that’s swallowed a feral pig.
Yeah, it’s that bad.
I’ve spent years saving every penny I’ve ever earned to be able to transfer to Malibu University. And now my entire future––including my scholarship––is in jeopardy.
So I either accept the help he insists on giving me, or lose everything I’ve sacrificed for.
In the meantime, I’m going to ignore the fact that we’re becoming friends.
And I’m definitely going to pretend he’s not turning into the object of my…umm, dirty fantasies.
That’s not happening.
Not even a little.
Because the minute I clapped eyes on him I knew he was nothing but trouble.

This was a good read. The writing flowed well, and the characters had great chemistry. Reagan was a good guy, who always wanted to do the right thing. Alice wasn’t my favorite at first, she distrusted everything and it made her come off as rude. She got better as the story went on though. This is very much a slow burn romance, and more than once I wanted to shout at my kindle “just freakin talk to each other already!!”. Since they were friends for a while before they crossed that line, their relationship progresses pretty quickly. What happens at the end of the book shocked me. I felt like it was out of character for Reagan, and even so, Alice forgave him way too easily. They do get their HEA though, and I would love to find out what happens with the rest of the group of friends.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
“Love doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s inextricably intertwined with self-sacrifice, vulnerability , risk… and yes, pain. Maybe that’s why we’re so often disillusioned by it. We demand it to be perfect when in essence love can’t exist without the risk of pain and the cost of safety.”
P.Dangelico made me go through every possible emotion in the friends-to-lovers sports romance Nothing But Trouble. The story started with a sweet note, went up and up with all the swoony beautiful moments and then the fall hit me hard. I gasped for breath till the noose loosened around my poor heart after the epic and tearing ending. Doesn’t it sound like the best kind of story? Yes I agree.
Alice is the kind of girl you want to become in real life. She is independent, talented, strong and determined with brilliant sense of humor. She goes all in once she gives her heart. She is so dedicated to find a great career in filmmaking and she never backs down no matter how many curveballs life throws at her. Except the one named Reagan Reynolds. Coming from a rich entitle family, waterpolo god, genius student with a face of an angel, body of the beast and heart of gold, he is not the kind of guy she expects to be associated with. Because they almost belong to two different world. But they meet literally by an accident. And they become “friends”. Until they don’t want to be. They fight it and give up only to break each other’s heart. Will the pieces ever come together?
Reagan has officially claimed my heart. I mean how can he not? The author created a perfect guy with every amazing quality possible. Sincere, caring, protective, honest and funny. Seriously he is my cryptonite. Add a hidden anguished soul with bone deep vulnerabilities and need for unconditional love and I am gone. Alice and Reagan’s chemistry was amazing. I simply loved the slow build up of the story. From friends to best frienda to soul mates. Each and every step was amazing. Nothing was rushed and I didn’t want to miss a single word. The story has enough twists and turns to keep you immersed in the pages. And the bromance of the water polo team was one of the major highlight. I can’t wait to read more about the guys. The storytelling was simply genius. It was well balanced, captivating and mesmerizing.
Nothing But Trouble by P.Dangelico was a breathtaking emotional journey. The beautiful and deep feelings. The sassy sweet banter. The overwhelming chemistry. The tears of heartbreak and angst. And I have one great romance to haunt me for a long time.
Received ARC for Honest Review
P. Dangelico is one of my favorite authors, so I was really excited when she announced the Malibu University series.
Alice and Reagan are students at Malibu University but from different worlds. Alice watches every penny, lives in the dorms, and is a film student. Reagan comes from a wealthy family, lives in a house with his water polo teammates, and is on track to attend medical school. The development of their friendship was so well done. It felt natural and it was easy to see how well they connected. They are also attracted to each other but early on decide to be just friends. The closer they get, though, the more difficult this proves to be.
P. Dangelico does a wonderful job with world building. It was easy for me to imagine the campus and surrounding areas. She also put just enough about water polo to provide the reader with the basics of the game without overwhelming the story. The scenes at their games were some of my favorite parts of the book.
The book is dual POV. I loved the chance to get the perspective of both Alice and Reagan on their friendship, their goals after college, and their friends and family. There are some great secondary characters and possible future couples that get introduced and I cannot wait to see what’s next for the series!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Nothing But Trouble is such a fantastic read. I love how Reagan and Alice meet in this one. Reagan and Alice may come from different backgrounds but it doesn’t mean they can’t relate at all to each other. in fact they each bring something more out of each other. Alice she is a strong, nothing is going to stop me, a little stubborn, has a big heart kind of girl. She may have issues taking help from others and her world may be falling apart with a streak of bad luck but nothing is going to stop her from living her life the way she wants That is until Reagan almost runs her over. He is athletic, not too snobby, looks out for everyone and carries everyone’s weight on his shoulders kind of guy. Even though guilt played a big part of how Reagan friends Alice in the end that isn’t everything. You feel the sparks start to take off in the very beginning as they get to know each other. Even when they friend zone each other when they both want more. I think that is what is needed for them to grow as a couple. If that didn’t happen then the little angst in this one may have a completely different result. Nothing But Trouble is a fantastic read. You will fall hard for Reagan and Alice. This is a must read.
4.5 Stars!
Alice Bailey recently moved from New Jersey to Southern California to attend Malibu University. She’s saved and worked most of her life to make her dreams come true, and her top priority is getting her film degree. She’s on track and everything is going great until she has the day from hell. One bad thing after another happens with the grand finale being a gorgeous guy almost running her over. Now she’s left to deal with a sprained ankle and her scholarship is in jeopardy. Not left with many options she’s forced to accept help from the beautiful, privileged hottie who can’t drive and looks like a Disney prince.
Reagan Reynolds is a big deal on campus and everyone knows who he is as one of the stars of the Malibu Sharks water polo team. The water polo players are like the gods at the university. Reagan’s life has been mapped out for him since an early age. He’s a responsible guy who does things by the book, so when Alice is having trouble because of him, he feels bad, and wants to help her. They begin spending a lot of time together, and soon it becomes hard to ignore their intense connection. His world is full of expectations, and he’s exhausted between classes, practices, and games. He’s not looking for a relationship, and even though they share a mutual attraction, they decide to be only friends.
Alice wants the one guy that’s forbidden. Reagan has become the object of all her dirty fantasies, and his constant flirting and sexy grins drive her wild. Alice also makes Reagan feel just as out of control with desire, and he’s not sure how much longer they can stay in the friend zone.
Nothing But Trouble is book one in P. Dangelico’s new Malibu University series. It’s a fun, flirty, standalone novel full of explosive chemistry and sexual tension. I really enjoyed this book, and this author is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I can’t wait for more in this series!
I am a massive P.Dangelico fan…I was introduced to her books by my lovely friend Stefanie, last year… and I was hooked from the very first page.
She has a style of writing romance that is so new and fresh with each of her books that has a old school chest thumping flavour that runs deep.
And if you hadn’t realised by now… I am a total sucker for a well written sports romance read! And my gawd can P.Dangelico wrote a great sports romance!
So… when I saw the ‘Nothing But Trouble’ blurb… I knew instantly I was gonna have to get my hands on this book!
It’s a whole smorgasbord of a story that is a wonderful blend of new adult/Sports/Friends-to-lovers…telling the story of Reagan and Alice…two total opposites that find themselves undoubtedly attracted to each other. Despite this attraction, they decide to be friends rather than to act on it…unbeknownst to each other that they are exactly what each other wants, desires and needs.
Filled with moments of the most breathtaking sweetness, heart ache and angst…and paragraphs that I had to reread over and over again (because the descriptive narrative had me feeling all ) it was an absolute joy and a total pleasure to read. I loved the development of friendship and love between Reagan and Alice..it was a teasingly slow burn that was filled with chemistry.
My only grumble is that I NEEDED an epilogue… I wanted to have a sneak future peak! I’m hoping that as this series continues and we get to have Dallas’ and The other Shark Boys stories…that we continue to have snippets from these two because I’m just not ready to let them go yet.
4 1/2 stars. I really enjoyed this. Reagan carried such a burden, trying to live up to his parents expectations and still be true to himself. Plus the situation with his brother was completely heartbreaking. While I didn’t like the mixed signals he kept giving Alice, I completely understood that he wasn’t doing it on purpose. He wanted her, but didn’t want to hurt her. He knew it would not end well and wanted to spare her heart. Alice was an awesome and sassy MC. She let Reagan know when he crossed the line. I felt like sometimes she let him get away with too much, but she was also fighting her feelings for him. Superb story-line with engaging secondary characters, Just missed 5 stars because I wanted a bit more from the reunion scene at the end. I understood Reagan’s reasoning for what he did, but it was still a crappy thing to do and Alice deserved better groveling.
