This book was so good and everything you look for in a second chance romance. She delivers a heartbreaking story of a marriage falling apart. Once I started this book I could not put it down.
Libby and Greyson have grown up together. Time passes and with interaction between them until Greyson sees Libby at a party. They end up married and things are good until she ends up pregnant and he isn’t excited. Greyson tells Libby there is no way that baby can be his. She decides to take her daughter and live a life away from Greyson.
This book broke me and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved these characters so much. I knew after reading Natasha Anders More Than Anything I knew I had to get my hands on this book. I highly recommend this book!
Nothing But This is Book 2 of Natasha Anders’ Broken Pieces series. I have been looking forward to reading this one since I finished the first book. I do feel the author did a good job refreshing the back story that while I would recommend Book 1, I don’t think it’s necessary to read this one.
This was a great second chance romance that drew me in from the start and I finished very quickly. Even though I despised Greyson after Book 1, the author did a superb job redeeming him this time around. I also enjoyed a different perspective on the situation between the characters in the first story.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
Libby Lawson thought she had everything she could want from life, a gorgeous husband, seemingly happy marriage, a beautiful home, and she is about to become a first time mother. But within minutes after her delivery her darn near perfect life took a serious nose dive, after her husband informs her that he is sterile and cannot be the father of their newborn. Libby is completely devastated, the man she loved with her whole heart just ripped her entire world to shreds and then didn’t even stick around to give her a chance to explain things. Now she finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place… a place she never thought she’d be.
Nothing But This is a angst-filled page-turner that is destined to do a serious number on your heart and emotions… this book totally wrecked me! This first time read impressed on all fronts, I wanted a heart-squeezing story, and that is exactly what I got… wow what a story! These two and their heartrending story had my heart in my throat, the tears welling, and my heart feeling like it was in a vise the whole way through! I loved every single second of this one, the story line was very unique, the characters were perfectly crafted and easy to connect to, and the words were powerful… definitely one of my favorite first reads this year! If you like heart torturing tales then this is a book for you, these two will take you on a journey you will never forget! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Natasha Anders is a new-to-me author. I’m always on the hunt for new authors to fall in love with their writing, so when I was asked to review this book, I was happy to.
Libby and Greyson come from different worlds even though they grew up together. When they run into each other as adults, those worlds don’t keep them apart. But when misunderstandings, distrust, hurt nearly ruin their marriage, can they find it in themselves to fix what’s broken or are the obstacles just too numerous to overcome?
First, let’s talk characters. In the beginning of this book, I can’t say I particularly liked Libby or Greyson. Neither one was bad, but they were both immature and very certain they were both right in their perceptions of each other and of the world around them. But what I loved? The journey this story took me on as they each matured and changed and evolved. And the best part? Neither one changed for the other. Both of them recognized as time went on that they didn’t know and understand themselves––or each other––quite as well as they once thought. Once they were away from prior influences, both characters grew and flourished in ways they never would have thought possible had they stayed where their marriage began.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I have to give Ms. Anders big kudos for writing this book and the other book in the series, More Than Anything, the way that she did. The story timelines literally fall on top of one another. That is NOT an easy thing to do. So while I haven’t read book 1 in this series to compare timelines, it seems like it’s well done in this book, at least. There were times where I did get frustrated that the push and pull between Libby and Greyson seemed to drag on, and as he grew and matured, I was definitely more Team Greyson because Libby just seemed so selfish in all her relationships for so much longer. Maybe it was a defense mechanism in her character after all that had been done to her, or maybe the author really did want her to be that selfish. All in all, this was a good read. I give Nothing But This by Natasha Anders 4 out of 5 stars!
If you love broken marriage romances that include lots of groveling, you’re going to absolutely love this one!
This time around we get all the deep down and dirty details of what exactly happened between this broken couple. There’s no denying that Greyson acted in a manner that could be unforgivable (no cheating). But as the story unfolds, we learn so many things about the man. He’s a loner even among his family and the very essence of who he is has led to insecurities which led to unforgivable actions. Fortunately, he’s able to get his head out of his rear and pursue Libby with plenty of groveling along the way.
Libby has her own lessons to learn, despite the fact that she was the one who paid the price for Greyson’s beliefs and actions. With so many layers to this relationship, there isn’t an insta-fix. “I love you” doesn’t heal everything and “I’m sorry” isn’t even close to being adequate. Actions speak louder than words, and sometimes it’s making yourself completely vulnerable and accepting the inevitable before closure can be found…in the most heartbreaking way.
”But he didn’t quite know how to say sorry for something so completely unforgivable. And God knew if he couldn’t apologize to his brother, he didn’t stand a chance in hell with Olivia, because she deserved more than apologies. She deserved nothing less than to have him standing in front of her barefoot on broken glass, begging for her forgiveness. And ever that wasn’t enough.”
Even while we have some extremely steamy scenes between Greyson and Libby, there is never the feeling that everything is going to work out. Greyson won me over by his constant need to make amends. Along the way, he finds a new Greyson, a more relaxed, carefree and loving man who is willing to do anything to find a way into Libby and Clara’s life. He knows he doesn’t deserve forgiveness, he can’t even forgive himself, and he realizes there are no words in the human language to ask for forgiveness. My heart hurt so badly for him! For a hero who had done the unthinkable, I found myself cheering for him. I didn’t expect that to happen!
”I love you, Clara,” he whispered and kissed her soft cheek, his nose nuzzling the powder-scented silky black curls at her temple. “I love you so much. And I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. Daddy’s so sorry.”
This is a super angsty read laced with some of the sweetest, swooniest moments between father and baby girl. Moving from some lowest of lows to sweetest of highs, I was engrossed in every faucet of this couple’s struggle to come to terms with their past, their present, and what their future would look like.
We met and got to know some of what was happening with Greyson and Libby in book one but there’s more than enough information included here that it’s not necessary to read it beforehand if you haven’t already. Although I highly recommend it because it’s just so good!
This is an amazing married/second chance romance that will capture your heart and squeeze it dry before soothing it with a believable reconciliation and the sweetest of sweet epilogue.
This book is emotional, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Natasha Ander’s second novel in the Broken Pieces series follows the broken marriage of Greyson and Olivia (Libby). Greyson is a stoic man, one never given to emotions so when he feels the need to marry Libby after she gave him her virginity he rationalized it as a logical choice. When Libby becomes pregnant and Greyson doesn’t believe the baby is his, Libby walks away. Libby has been in love with Greyson since she was a teenager so his condemnation of her faithfulness is a blow that she cannot withstand. When Greyson decides to man up and tries to make amends, Libby is not prepared for the man that he has become.
Greyson and Libby’s story was fairly mapped out in Broken Pieces #1 though most of it is seen through the eyes of Greyson’s brother Harrison and Libby’s friend, Tina so seeing it from their perspective made for interesting reading, knowing what was happening but the characters internal thoughts made the story richer. Ander’s study of personalities from Greyson’s quiet, introvert loner to Harris’ boisterous extrovert to Libby’s steel spined nurturer lays out people who have to learn to deal with each other while finding the best parts of themselves.
Nothing But This is a second chance romance with deep emotions and touching revelations
A big case of “It’s me not you”. Once again I disliked the heroine intensely as well as Tina, the h from the first book all over again.
The hero is a huge, epic jerk when he rejects his own baby and wife thinking his twin brother is the father. Yep, it’s the old mumps/sterility trope again. This time my sympathies ultimately lay with the hero as he tries to win the heroine back. He doesn’t apologize but decides actions speak louder than words even if he is pretty ineffectual with his actions. He’s a rotten cook, scared of stinky diapers, and is relatively incompetent at fixing the heroine’s house.
The heroine certainly has good reason to be angry, kick him to the curb, all those things we want to see. Perhaps including the H’s POV racked up my sympathy for him as the heroine’s spite and bitchiness were beyond annoying. NA does a good job with showing the hero’s turnaround as a father and explaining why he found it easy to jump to the horrible conclusion his brother was the father. His interaction with the baby is pretty cute.
Words can not even begin to express how excited I was to read this book. The synopsis sounded so promising and this author is one that a lot of friends have been raving about. The synopsis for Nothing But This sounded amazing and I just couldn’t wait to dive in.
Nothing But This follows the story of Greyson and Libby. Things between Greyson and Libby have always been complicated. Libby has had a crush on Greyson for as long as she could remember and Greyson never once gave any indication that he felt the same way. It wouldn’t be until years later, when fate reunites Greyson and Libby, that Greyson finally makes his move. Greyson and Libby have a whirlwind romance and before they know it, they find themselves married. The sky’s the limit. That is until Libby ends up getting pregnant. Libby’s happily ever after is anything but. Greyson believes himself to be sterile and his actions and treatment of Libby are inexcusable. Libby is so hurt. The only answer is to leave Greyson….Will Greyson open his eyes and see the mistakes he’s made? Is the damage between Libby and Greyson too much to repair? There’s only one way to find out…..
When I first picked up this book, I was hooked. I couldn’t get enough of Greyson and Libby. I felt like I couldn’t read fast enough. Their story started off so promising. A young couple who fell in love hard and fast and suddenly had the rug pulled out from under them….Yep, I couldn’t get enough. I was angry. I was frustrated. The angst and hopelessness so palpable. I couldn’t wait to see where this story would go.
Unfortunately, things feel apart pretty quickly for me. As much as I loved the angst and frustration. I found myself annoyed with Libby and Greyson. Don’t get me wrong, I totally was team Libby. She was so right in all the decisions she was making and I didn’t mind seeing Greyson grovel. Greyson made some terrible assumptions and his actions were irredeemable. I loved that Libby put him through the paces and didn’t just accept that he pulled his head out of his butt. She made him see how his behavior hurt her and she made him work for it.
However, after a while, the back and forth stopped working for me. It felt repetitive and like the plot was dragging. I wanted to see more from Greyson and Libby. I needed to see some type of a connection other than the baby & good sex. The sexual tension was on point and the angst factor definitely had my heart working overtime. But, I needed more than that. I needed some flashbacks of the good times and moments that would make me root for them. I needed to see these characters connect with their clothes on. Like show me why these two characters should be together because at the end of the day, sex and a baby are not enough. My other issue was the secondary plot line between Harris and Tina. I found that to be really confusing since their story was the first book in this series. I get that their stories were running parallel with one another, but the way it was done, it felt like we never jumped ahead of their story, if that makes sense. Like I understand that some parts of their story were important to this plot, but it made it feel like this was all four of their stories instead of just Libby & Greyson’s.
Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. I think it will be a hit for some and a miss for others. I’m going to round this one up to 3 stars, because I really did enjoy the first half of the book. I think this story had a lot of good potential, but for me just fell flat. This is my first book by this author, and while I didn’t love it, I would be open to checking out other books from her in the future.
This is my first ARC from Natasha Anders. I’ve read The Unwanted Wife years ago and I liked it, so here we are…
This is Greyson’s and Olivia’s story. From what I understand Tina and Harris also have their own book… This is definitely not an easy read. It’s angsty, emotional and some bits of it were frustrating.
It took me days to finish this because… to be honest Olivia and Greyson along with Tina were exasperating. I get that what happened can’t be easily forgotten and if it were me, I would probably do the same. But I felt like there was just too much pushing and pulling, and highs and lows between the couple. And somewhere through reading the story, I felt like I was stuck inside the dryer—spinning. It was like watching Days of Our Lives. It’s definitely a slow-burn but it picked up around the middle.
Overall, I still enjoyed the book. It teaches you about empathy, to not give up hastily and to fight for what/who you love. And that everything worth having takes a lot of work.
Greyson Chapman has always been a man of few words, and even fewer emotions. Nothing like his twin Harrison, relationships don’t come easy to Grey. When he runs into Olivia Lawson all grown up at a party one evening, it feels like fate. Libby’s parents were always employed by the Chapman’s, and she’s 4 years younger than he is, both things making her off limits. Libby’s always loved Grey, ever since they were kids, she can’t believe that he picked her out of the crowd on the roof top and whisked her away. A few months later she finds herself pregnant and married, and her husband’s pulling away from her physically, and emotionally. Confused and lonely in the hospital after giving birth, Libby decides she needs space and time away from Grey to get her self sorted. Now that Libby’s gone, Grey realizes what a huge mistake he’s made and he needs to get her back.
Oh the feelings. Poor Libby, her husband accuses her of having an affair and says that their baby isn’t his. I can not imagine what that type of rejection feels like. Unfortunately for Grey that wasn’t the only bridge he burned, to accuse his brother of being the other party in the affair and fathering Libby’s baby just made the entire situation so much more sad, and worse. I was glad Libby was standing up for herself, but mostly for Clara, putting her first was the right decision. I wanted to strangle Grey when he kept apologizing for the wrong thing, but admire his drive and willingness to do what it too to get them back. This book happens in the same time frame as the first, so some of the scenes and conversations were repeat, I understand why, but I didn’t care for that aspect. Since it was from Libby and Grey’s perspective the thoughts surrounding the conversations were different, which was interesting to see. This book also has crazy long chapters, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, that just made it a little more difficult to sit for a few and read just one chapter. Overall I enjoyed this book.
