Their hearts were in harmony… until the music faded away.Izzy ~Since childhood, our relationship grew from a single note to a full symphony. Two years ago, when I needed him most, he went radio silent. Starting over and rearranging the lyrics with someone new just hasn’t been the same. Beckett has my trust and friendship, but not what he wants the most: my heart. I have a second chance at love, … have a second chance at love, if only my heart can change its tune. But before it can, that old song resurfaces…
Dawson ~
Falling in love with my best friend was wonderful. Until I lost her as I chased my dreams. My dreams have become my reality, and I have it all, except the one thing I want: Izzy. Every song I perform is a reminder of what she inspired. Without her, the music that used to flow freely has died. If I can convince her to be my song, my heaven, my everything once more, then maybe I won’t feel so lost. But her heart is singing a new tune, and I may be too late.
Can Dawson make Izzy see the classic anthem was better than a one hit wonder?
NOTE: This is part TWO of Dawson and Izzy’s story. Part ONE of their story can be read in Beats of the Heart.

Another amazing book by this author and a beautiful continuation of Izzy and Dawson’s story. This book held me captive from the very beginning and left me wanting more at the end. I cannot wait to see what happens next with these wonderful characters. Fantastic book and highly recommended.
This is the second book in the story of Izzy and Dawson. For a newer author this lady can develop a character and their story. My heart hurt for these two and their separation in this book. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I am totally invested and am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
Izzy and Dawson’s story continues with miscommunication and not wanting to reach out to each other. This book you won’t want to put down. Will they have a second chance at love?
With Izzy and Dawson being separated things have happened for both. Izzy got sick and almost died and without Izzy Dawson went down a path of self destruction. He partied to much with the wrong things. As Izzys health got better she and her doctor got together but it wasn’t the same. Beckett was Izzy’s doctor while she was sick and now is her boyfriend long distance but it’s just not the same as it was with Dawson. Dawson everything was colorful and full of passion with Beckett its lovely but not much passion. She shy around him. As the tour comes to an end Dawson is trying to create music that speaks to him but it doesn’t come easy. With Izzy parents anniversary party coming up Dawson‘s gonna be there and so will Beckett with Izzy. Dawson wants Izzy and to apologize for not being there when she needed him. Tell her about the phone and how it got lost and he didn’t know that her number was changed. So many up and downs in this book. They are still apart for now but will they be together again?
This middle installment of a trilogy gave me all the feels. Dawson and Izzy have had a long road together. Meeting when they were six, they grew up next to each other and through every monumental moment. This is so well written volleying between present times and flash backs. I am so enamored by Dawson and his drive to reclaim what he has lost. And Izzy is so resilient on her road to recovery both physically and mentally. Her future is hanging in the balance and she doesn’t even know about it. Dawson is determined though to be a huge part of it.
Loved this series so far these two still love each other but missed communication drove them apart
This is the second book in the series. You should definitely read book one before reading this installment.
Just when I was hooked on the first book in the series. This one comes along and tears me up. Like literally. One of the only books I’ve ever read to get me so sad to the point of almost tears. (Shh, don’t tell anyone else that).
Dawson and Izzy continue their story in this super intense, crazy, sweet tale. Of course it leave you in a cliffy, which I don’t mind one bit. The look backs through Dawson’s POV are my favorite. I really enjoyed the two books in the series so far. And I can not wait for book 3!! 5 stars. Go grab it. Its soooooo good!
This was such a hard story to read after Beats of the Heart but you just have to. Dawson and Izzy are off living their own lives with different situations and all you do is hope something will bring them together. At least I didn’t feel like crying when I was done just a little disappointed. The series is really good but you know as a reader you don’t always get what you want.
This book is phenomenal and such a beautiful story,I absolutely LOVED every single word.
It is safe to say that I am now officially addicted to Dawson and Izzy’s love story, and a huge fan of Charli B Rose and her Gorgeous words.
Although it was so frustrating to my heart to read at times as we discover the fallout from what happened in book 1.
In this book we delve into the past and find out Just how Dawson and Izzy met , we see from both characters different moments in time of how they became childhood best friends to lovers. They reminisce about all their firsts and what happened in the 2 years they have been apart and what caused their split in the first place.
Their lives have changed and they aren’t the people they were back then…Dawson wants Izzy back, but will she want him back now she has moved on.
Charli’s storytelling is total perfection I felt like I was on this journey with them and I was so emotional throughout the entire story…it was exquisite and certain moments really touched my heart.
This is Romance Excellence and I cannot wait to read book 3
An Outstanding book and it has my highest recommendation.
I loved learning so much about their past and how so much came to be between them. Their story is beautifully awesome. I can’t wait for answers to the suspense and for them to come face to face again.
The continuation of Izzy and Dawson’s story is just as impressive as book 1. Filled with tumultuous memories and heartache, one hopes that these two will find somehow find their way back together. I’m off to read book 3 so I can see how their journey goes.
Wonderful second book. So much story needed for us to continue the story!
I loved every word and I could not wait for book 3.
Dawson and Izzy are everything.
Charli does a fantastic job keeping us going and wanting to keep reading.
Notes of the Heart, the continuation of Dawson and Izzy’s story.
This book is full of surprises and my gawd, I am emotionally bruised in this series. I just can’t but I love how Charli delivered the characters’ emotions. They can easily be felt and I feel like I am the characters experiencing the heartaches and all.
In this book, you’ll learn Dawson and Izzy’s past and all. I love how Charli put everything together.
**Don’t hate me, it’s not a 5 star read because I am looking forward to the conclusion of their story. The books in the series are good and must read.**
This is book two of the series. I found I could not put this book down. The characters jumped off the pages and the story line flowed so easily. It was really easy to get lost within the pages. This is book 2 of a 3 book series. It does end in a cliffhanger, but that’s ok because I cannot wait to start on book 3 of this series but will be sad when its over. I loved Izzy and Dawson. And you will too, so yes I am definitely recommending this book and series!
Woah Charli B. Rose this book is word art, a total page turner, I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Songs of the Heart.
Note: Beats of the Heart is a must read before going into Notes of the Heart.
This book is dual POV, you get Dawson and Izzy’s story of what happened to lead to their heartbreaking split, Their POVs bounce between past and present so you get the whole story from six-year-old friends right through to being twenty-five and what’s happening in their lives up-to-date.
SOME SPOILERS
Dawson has loves Izzy and can’t understand why she threw their love away, the only think he can put it down to is the limelight being too much for her, man was he wrong. When the truth comes to light he wants her back. But can he win her heart after breaking it so badly? Chuck in the fact she has a new man in her life, he needs to be on his A-game, will his A-game cut it second time round?
Izzy has only ever loved one man, Dawson, but he broke her heart with radio silence for 2 years, she needed him and he wasn’t there. The truth doesn’t match the thoughts running rampant in her head still and things could have been so different, now its too late and Beckett is in her life, but he’s no comparison to the boy who stole her heart. Soon the two will be reunited, how will heart survive?
Will Dawson win back his girl?
Or is it all two years too late?
Another amazing read! This is the second book of the series. You need to read Beats of the Heart to get the full experience and impact of the story. I have to say I read a lot and there are probably only five authors who can make me feel the emotions of the characters so thoroughly and Charli B Rose is one of them. In Notes of the Heart we find out what really happened to keep Dawson and Izzy apart. It was a small thing to happen that snow balled to have enormous consequences. A small thing that probably got a nudge from someone. We also get the entire back story of how Dawson and Izzy met as children and then fell in love. I love all the experiences these two have. Some crushing and others wonderfully overwhelming. We also find out more about the relationship between Izzy and her new love interest. He’s a great guy, but you can tell something is missing. At the end of Beats we learned something was going on with Izzy’s health, but the impact it has on Izzy and her relationships with Dawson and Beckett are huge. There will be a third book that I understand is the conclusion of Dawson and Izzy’s story and I can’t wait. Though this book was mostly past experiences, it is needed to really cement the bond Dawson and Izzy have. As a wise person once said, when the reader is invested with all aspects and experiences of the characters, we root for them more and the triumphs are so much sweeter.
After reading Beats of the Heart, I could not wait to read more and Charli delivered with so much and then some!!! In this book she gives us Izzy and Dawson’s life story, what has caused their break-up, Izzy’s sickness and Beckett. This book is full – from their first meeting at six years old, their friendship, to leaning on each other, to their love and break-up. The story flashes back and forth with present day events and the beautiful memories they hold on to. Each of them is dealing with not having the other in their life. Their love pours out throughout the pages and touched my heart in a way that they will always have a special place there. I can’t wait for the next book and praying Dawson is not to late and can win Izzy back!!!
I am pulling my hairs with wanting more!!!!
Love hurts… in the best way.
Notes of the Heart is part two of the Lyrical Odyssey Rock Star series. I was blown away by part one, and couldn’t believe it was a debut novel. Notes of the Heart is every bit as powerful as the first book. So much pleasure, and still so much pain, but a lot of my questions from part one were answered. Izzy and Dawson’s story is by no means complete, and I can tell the best is yet to come. Please don’t keep me waiting!
I was given an advance reader copy of this book, and am voluntarily offering my honest opinion.
I loved it, so much so that I bought it, and will be ordering for my girls as well.
