Aron Lincoln never meant to take on the role of parent. He was only fourteen years old. His job was to be a big brother, one his little brother could learn from—maybe even look up to. He wasn’t supposed to be the one his brother depended on for protection. But when their Dad walked away, and their Mom chose something else over them, Aron was left with no choice. He made a vow to protect his … vow to protect his brother, and it’s a promise he intends to keep.

My first book by the author and a very good story with flawed characters and a love story that is not easy but worth your listening time for sure.
I’m looking forward to other books by the author.
I am never sure with a subject like this whether I should say that I enjoyed the story, but it’s so well written and I really felt for the characters and what they were going through, that yes I enjoyed it. Justin Mills did a great job with the narration, it’s not easy with so many male voices to keep them distinct but he manages that beautifully. I feel this is sensitively handled but still packs a punch.
This is the second book in the Not Alone Series. This is a prequel of Not the End. In this novella, we learn more about Aron and his brother’s heartbreaking past. This is an emotional story, and a great addition to the Series. Justin Mills is a new narrator to me. He did a great job with the narration. #AudiobookObsession
Not the Same (Not Alone Novellas, Book 2) is a young adult novella that is the prequel to Not The End. It is well detailed with world building descriptions for a pint size story. Heartrending moments entwined into the narrative bringing doleful perception. The brothers friendship was adoring. Aron’s story leads into Dimah’s story superlatively.
Narator Justin Mills performance brought out all the right sentiments at the right places.

Not the Same
Not Alone Novellas, Book 2
By: Gianna Gabriela
Narrated by: Justin Mills
Gianna Gabriella knows how to catch my attention! This novella had me from the first sentence! Aron takes on the role of protector of his younger brother. Their mother was addicted to drugs and father walked out on them. When things finally broke down, their aunt took them in and gave the two the love they deserved. Will the two be ok? Will they stay with their aunt? Will Aron get back to playing football? Will their life settle and be happy? Realistic, heart breaking and heartwarming, this story had me.
Narrated by Justin Mills, he brought the story all the realism of today’s world. We could see and feel everything these kids went through, making it up close and personal. He did an amazing job.

This book will break your heart in a few different ways, but we do see light at the end of the tunnel in the end of it. I enjoyed listening to this book as the writing and narration was done really well.
Not the Same by Gianna Gabriela is an emotional young adult novella that I listened to on audio narrated by Justin Mills.
This is the second book of Gianna’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved getting the back story on Aron that leads him to helping Dimah in Not Alone.
Justin did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of his work in the future.

Another awesome read by this author. I read this in on sitting.
This is Aron’s story. The things he has to go through as a teenager are rough and no kid or teen should have to but unfortunately they do.
Son of a drug dealer and alcoholic, Aron has spent his life trying to be a parent for his younger brother, Ethan whilst struggling to stay at school.
This book makes us understand why Aron is the person that wanted to help and protect in Not the Same (book #1).
I highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed Aron Lincoln’s story. Now I understand him more. Not easy for a teenager taking on the role of being a parent because the actual parents don’t. Aron didn’t have an easy life growing up but he wanted his brother to have more. He was very protective of Ethan, his younger brother. This story felt so real and dealt with so much. Such a tragic common thing that actually is what real life things are happening more then we realize. I loved this story. Well written and so heartfelt. I actually felt for these brothers & all the emotions they dealt with. I couldn’t stop once I started too. I’m excited to read more.
This is the second book which comes after Not the End, and Wow, just wow! This is a short novella but it doesn’t lack in feeling or intensity. Aron has had to grow up quickly and be the parent to his little brother, Ethan, after his father walked out on them and his mother turned to drugs. You can feel the growing frustration, the hope and the pain of hopes dashed when it everything falls apart. It shows how our actions can affect those around us, even when we’re trying to shield them from what’s happening. This book makes us understand why Aron is the person that wanted to help and protect in Not the Same (book #1). This kind of writing is why Gianna Gabriela is a one click author for me.
Aron was only 10 years old when his dad left and he seemed to take over the role of parent when his mom fell into despair.
But as Aron grows up how much will he be willing to sacrifice to take care of his little brother, Ethan? Will anyone out there give them the help they need?
This was a beautiful novella about finding strength and protecting the ones you love above anything else.
I was so proud of Aron for raising Ethan and being there for him when things were tough with his mom spiraling downwards so fast. It broke my heart at what he was willing to give up to keep him safe.
I was so mad at their mom and what she was doing to herself and the boys and not getting the help she needed. I really had hoped she turned the corner but Richard was able to get her back which frustrated me.
I was happy that Eve was there at the end when they truly needed someone and I liked her regrets as well but I loved how she never had forgotten them and constantly thought of them even though she and hr sister hadn’t spoken.
The very end was awesome with Ethan confronting Aron for what he was doing!
The well written storyline and the well developed characters kept me totally enthralled as I turned each and every page! I was so invested in this story that I ended up reading this book in one sitting and I look forward to reading what this author writes next!
This is an excellent story! I had the pleasure of listening to this novella on my kindle, while at work, this story grabbed my attention and didn’t let go to the last page was flipped; it was very well-written.
Gianna has held nothing back with this story. It had me crying laughing and yelling at my iPad. It is truly stunning how this author makes the story flow. I was shocked to see that it had ended. Can’t wait to read more from Gianna.
This is a 5 star novella that I just Devoured. This is Aron’s side of his story that started at a young age. Aron is in the story Not The End.
I got to see how he grew up too fast to a mother that was emotionally not there for him and his little brother. He was a parent to his parent.
I just adored Aron and Ethan, they made me feel so much. I wanted to take them under my wing and just hug them. Beautifully written where it felt just right. It didn’t feel short, it just complimented Not The End. I can’t wait for more from these characters.
I think either Not the Same and Not the End can be read first because they just compliment each other. I strongly recommend both these books.
From the first pages till the very last, Aron and Ethan has my heart. Not The Dame is a novella all about two boys struggling to get by with a mom that’s an addict. She wasn’t always that way but now that’s all they remember. This story of how Aron looks out for his little brother, ensuring he has as much of a normal life as he can have is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Giving up his own childhood to protect his brother is a gift that will never be returned and he does it without a second thought!!! This book hits you hard in the heart and when you finish it, you feel like your heart is a little fuller again!!! So very good!!!
This novella deals with a difficult subject matter, that will bring out every emotion in you. I really enjoyed learning about Aron’s backstory. His story is about overcoming a difficult childhood (raising his brother while his mother is battling her addictions) and the pain, anguish and fears he has to face daily. It honestly broke my heart to hear about Aron’s childhood. However, the story is also about hope, moving on and never giving up on your dreams. While Aron and his brother faced a lot of hardships, they also had loved ones who were rooting for them. Not the Same, is a beautifully written book, that I highly recommend everyone reads!
This is amazing read that will have you understanding the struggles of the first story. This is a must read story that will tear your heart apart.
Wow, just wow. Aron’s story is so touching and heartbreaking. I loved every page, every word and every detail. What families go through with an addict and how they cope. Ms. Gabriela gives us a perfect story and I highly recommend this book for everyone to read.
Once again, Gianna hits you right in the gut with Aron’s story. This story, like Dimah’s, held such a special place in my heart. I was transported into a world that opened my eyes to the realities of those who are left behind by the horrible addictions that tear families apart. This also struck a nerve in me, a reminder of what truly matters in this world, and that even when you are the one standing strong in the storm you will fall short, but as long as you get back up and fight back stronger from it, there will be a new power that courses through you. Selflessness, humility, the understanding of true sacrifice, as well as peace and an encompassing love of those who are worthy of the gift you provide. Getting to have Aron’s story after we met Dimah in Not the End, makes the effort he puts towards his relationship with her that much more incredible.
Even with such a short read, it packs a whalop of a punch, and you can’t help but feel each emotion that flows through Aron. I could go on and on about what this story means to me, but I’ll keep it simple, thank you Gianna for such a powerful read.
