My name is Reyna Miracle.
Even though a part of my name is Miracle, there’s nothing miraculous about me.
My body portrays the tales of my life.
Every feeling, every heartbreak, every emotion.
Marked. Inked. Stained.
A walking canvas of my messed up truth.
But there’s one confession I can’t put in a tattoo.
A confession that will kill me to tell, but my best friend died before I had the … best friend died before I had the chance.
Now I’m left with him.
The only one who can hold me in the night and squeeze that spot on my neck that feels like my lifeline between sanity and chaos.
But we don’t work together.
We’re absolute poison for each other.
We’re a stifling, suffocating, sickness of darkness.
But I feel safe…because I’ve made an art of pushing people away.
Now he’s pushing back…
And making me believe…
Making me wonder…
Maybe, just maybe…
I could be the one.

This is the book were Amy Daws hits her stride as an author. There is weightiness to this book, every word a punch to the gut. I loved it, even while hating the emotions that swirled like black oil on water as I read. Buy it. Read it. Find a hand to hold.
Still a 3.5
I started reading this series from the very beginning. And I truly enjoyed Liam in the first books, I felt for the guy and wanted him to get his happily ever after. We met Rey in the last book briefly and I just didn’t feel her character. That being said, I was a little disappointed in the chemistry I felt for these two.
They had a history, which I think was completely pertinent to the story, but I just couldn’t connect to them for some reason. I’m glad they both got their happily ever after but I wasn’t reading like I couldn’t put it down because I had to figure out why or how they were going to make it.
Rey also has dreams often and I couldn’t connect with them. I think it’s just a personal opinion with that. I didn’t hate the book but I didn’t feel in love either.
I first fell in love with Liam back in the first novel of the London Lovers series. I couldn’t wait for his own story, and thought he was so darn sweet. Which he is, but damn does he have a naughty side!
Emotions often run high in an Amy Daws novel, and this book is no exception. There are definitely some dark aspects to the story, from an unplanned affair to a suicide attempt. That being said, there are also some remarkably sexy and sweet moments between Reyna and Liam. And of course, you can’t forget the lovable and laughable antics of dear Frank. Oh, and can we take a moment to drool over how awesome the cover art is? Alright, I think I’m good. Wait…no I’m gonna need a few more minutes to just stare and admire the beauty.
Reyna was friends with Liam back in college, as he was dating her best friend and roommate, Marisa. There was always a deep connection between Liam and Reyna that neither could explain or ignore, and one night they do the unthinkable and sleep together while Marisa is away on holiday. Reyna is flooded with immediate guilt, and has every intention of confessing to Marisa right away what happened. Unfortunately, the very next day Marisa dies in a terrible accident, and Reyna never has the chance to say she’s sorry. Needless to say, this creates some negative and long lasting affects.
The whole aspect of the affair was pretty unsettling, especially seeing as my boy Liam was involved! Not only that, but Liam sort of used his relationship with Marisa to get a rise out of Reyna so she would admit to having feelings for him. Marisa appears to both Liam and Reyna in their dreams basically giving their relationship her stamp of approval, but I kind of question if that would have been true had she been alive. Definitely gives you some things to think about!
Throughout the novel, Reyna’s dreams have a very important role to play in the overall story. Not only does she often receive messages from Marisa in her dreams, but she also has a connection with her three sisters who died shortly after their premature quadruplet birth. Reyna’s therapist actually provides a scientific reasoning for why she has memories of her sisters from the time she was a baby, but combine that with Marisa’s dreamy appearances and I felt like there was almost a paranormal aspect to the novel which was kind of different.
My first read from this author and really enjoyed reading it. This book was heartbreaking to read at times ‘cuz it deals with the loss of a loved one (a best friend) and how you try to overcome that loss. it certainly makes you wonder about life and how precious moments can be, not even realising those moments can turn out big! the things and memories Reyna had to go through, at some points I could relate and that’s what makes a book turn into something more than just a story that an author is trying to tell. it brought tears to my eyes. loved Liam and how he was portrayed. if anything, I’d like a Liam for myself 🙂 I would definitely recommend this to read and will be reading more of her books.
I absolutely loved Liam and Hayden. Liam is the best, he’s supportive and constantly trying to be the fixer for everyone. Hayden is so broken that I just want to reach out and hug him. Reyna was a completely different story for me. From beginning to end, I just couldn’t connect with her. Her issues just never made sense and I thought the people in her life deserve better than she ever gave. I can’t wait to read Hayden’s story.
*4 Stars*
This one is a hard one for me to review. Whilst its another Amy book, and was one that I sped through, I was not particularly a huge fan of the main characters. But with that being said, I don’t really know if we’re meant to like them at first.
Reyna, Hayden and Liam have all endured the same tragedy in the past, yet while Liam was a character I really liked, the other two were only just likeable for me by the end.
Reyna and Hayden are both very self destructive, and Amy highlights their struggles quite well. Reyna more so than Hayden, until we get to a certain point in the story, and we see his pain a lot more too. THAT point is the point where I knew – Hayden is going to kill me in his book (the next in the series, actually). Rey herself has a lot to work through, but her struggles show differently to Haydens and because this is her story we see this more clearly.
Liam was a poor innocent bystander in this one until the end, and the end of this book, the last parts are what really started to redeem Rey and Hayden in my eyes. But even so, I still don’t know how I feel about them too much.
This is a much darker story than the previous London Lovers books, and certainly a lot darker than the Harris Brothers series, but it still fits well. Because the characters are all intertwined and know each others, these guys needed their story to be told. Any hey, these things happen in real life, and so its a glimpse into the other side – the side that not everyone experiences in their life. We all struggle, but some more so than others, and this really highlights that.
Whether or not I liked the characters, this was still a book that I was talking to my friends about as I read (they have read it in the past), and that I was so curious to learn how it would play out. It also set up the story really well for Hayden, and I’m very keen for him because I have heard so much. Not to mention thats where beautiful old Vi Harris comes into play.
Oh, and can Frank and Beans get his own book please??
This is the first book by this author that I have read! I loved it.
This story will take your emotions on a hell of ride. I felt what the characters were feeling, I felt the highs of the happy moments, and the lows of the unhappy. I loved Liam and Hayden, I loved Reyna. I felt bad for what Rey had been though. I wasn’t sure who I wanted Reyna with though, Hayden or Liam.
I am bummed it took me so many days to read due to vertigo because I didn’t want to put the book down but had no choice. Thanks for an emotional roller coaster ride! I will be going back and reading the other books in the London Lovers series! I need more of those characters!
AWESOME!! I love this book!! So deep!!
It was borderline too dramatic but I appreciate how the characters fixed their mistakes. The story held an important lesson women forget in a relationship.
Reyna has lived a tragic life. She started out losing the sisters she shared a womb with, she lost her father, had overprotective mother, shagged her best friends Marisa’s boyfriend the night she died and is in a messed up and toxic 1 year relationship with Marisa’s brother Hayden. 3 years after Marisa’s death Reyna is still struggling with the death of her best friend Marisa and what she and Liam did that night. She still can’t turn off her feelings for Liam and when he shows up and decides he wants more. Reyna knows she is not worthy of anyone’s love. She pushes away everyone. I love this series but unfortunately I couldn’t quite get behind Reyna. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great story and I loved the other characters that I have come to love in this story. Liam and Hayden definitely made up for Reyna. I just found her too conflicted and self absorbed. I hope Amy Daws writes more of this series because it happens to be one of my favorites.
