Susan Mallery, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances, proves there’s nowhere better than Happily Inc to rekindle first love.Silver Tesdal has a head for business and a mouth made for kissing, and banker Drew Lovato has his eye on both. But ever since he was dumb enough to let her go, she’s kept him at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a … at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a double opportunity—he can finance her brilliant, unique idea to rock Happily Inc’s wedding industry and win back her trust.
Despite her reputation, Silver’s not as tough as she seems. Losing Drew nearly destroyed her. Still, his kisses are as tempting as his offer to invest in her business. If she can’t quite get over him, maybe she should get under him and knock him out of her system once and for all.
But her best laid plans begin to unravel as Silver finds herself falling even harder than when they were high school sweethearts. Which means that she’ll have to come clean about the secret she’s been hiding from him for years—and risk losing him forever.

Silver Tesdal and Drew Lovato were high school sweethearts, until she broke it off before he went away to college, believing that old saying about if you love someone, you will set them free. Hogwash, when you don’t tell them how you really feel. Now they have a second chance, when he convinces her to let him buy into her business, after his aunt refuses her loan from the family owned bank, if they can finally be honest with each other and not allow his mother’s manipulation to get in the way. A delightful read for a miserable rainy day, with appealing characters, appealing plot and skillfully developed narrative.
Loved this second chance romance. Yay for Silver getting her first love back.
I thoroughly enjoyed Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold Series and am enjoying her new characters in Happily Inc. So far, Second Chance Girl (#2) and Why Not Tonight (#3) are my favorites but this one is definitely worth a read!
Silver and Drew’s HEA was definitely awesome. I loved all the characters and it makes me wish Happily, INC was real.
I enjoyed this book
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Another enjoyable novel from Ms Mallery, I really like this series and this a good entry in the series. I don’t always like the old lover come back trope, but Ms Mallery makes it work. Her characters come across as real people with problems and hopes and dreams. Overall a good story and a quick read.
Really enjoyed reading this book, one of my favorite authors.
And we’re back! This is what I expect from Susan Mallery. A light-hearted, fun romance set in the fabulous town of Happily Inc. Silver has intrigued me from the beginning, and it was great to finally hear her story. I love that she and Drew own their history and their future, no apologies. Life is tough, but there is no excuse for dwelling in the unpleasant and missing out on the good.
Enjoyed this series
3.5 Stars
I really struggled with how to rate this book. I wanted to give it a full 4 stars, but there was one major issue that kept me from that.
Let’s start with the good – Silver and Drew. They are a unique second chance romance. Their past had the potential for lots of angst and hurt feelings, but they handle everything beautifully.
Silver (along with Leigh and Autumn) are all the best possible outcomes of an adoption story. Adding Drew in the mix had just the right level of uncomfortable to be real, but with out lots of unnecessary drama.
Drew’s relationship with his parents/aunt/grandpa – the perfect catalyst for angst and the odd humorous moments. One of these days, I would love to know the story behind Libby and Irene – there has to be something to make them the way they are!
The friends that make up the secondary cast add a lot of dimension as well. Not only are they key players from previous/upcoming books, they are a community that we have come to know. It’s nice to see them again and get to know them all a little better.
While the secondary cast is a strength to the book, it’s also the thing that kept this from being a full 4 star read. We were rocking along with Drew and Silver’s story when poof, we are in New York with Jasper. The transition was not organic to the story and it pulled me away from the book. The same thing happened in several other places, but not enough that we were seeing two love stories in parallel. While I am curious about Jasper and Wynn and am looking forward to their story/stories in the future, I felt like the introduction here was abrupt and not handled with the grace I usually associate with Ms Mallery.
This book is definitely connected to the previous Happily Inc stories, but probably stands alone more than the others. This is an enjoyable series and I am looking forward to what comes next.
I am not sure why, but I only LIKED this book instead of LOVING it. Somehow, it took an effort to read in, unlike the rest of the books in this and the Fool’s Gold series. My biggest impression from the book was – when do we get Wynn’s story?
Another trip to Happily Inc. and a visit with people who feel like old friends. I was very excited to finally read Silver and Drew’s story as the other books had mentioned their past relationship. Watching Drew and Silver get to know each other again while becoming unlikely business partners was entertaining and romantic. Add in a big secret, meddling parents and a royal wedding and you have an entertaining story. I was also pleased to learn a bit more about Jasper and Wynn and hope that we see their own story in the future. I’m always happy to spend some time among the folks in Happily Inc.
You never forget your first love, even if you couldn’t admit your feelings. For Silver and Drew their young live never fully faded. Only Silver has a secret from their past.
This Happily Inc. novel had a wonderful blend of the other residents sprinkled throughout the story, reinforcing Silver’s relationship within the community and the bonds of friendship that tie the female residents. Jasper and Wynn’s relationship also developed further in this novel and I’m excited for their story to be told soon.
Although the obstacles between Silver and Drew really seemed minor, this was a fast read and enjoyable story.
This book is all about what makes second chance at love stories so good. Seriously, one of my favorite tropes ever and this one had all the elements that I loved. But at the heart of that is Silver. She’s a heroine who knows her own mind and while she always loved Drew, she never regretted what she had to do. She owns it. She’s mature enough now as she was at 18 to realize they wouldn’t have the happy, healthy lives they have now if they’d made different choices back then. That makes her a fantastic heroine.
I just loved this book…so many great moments and a romantic story to boot. I highly recommend it.
Now that the Mitchell brothers (Nick, Mathias, and Ronan) are all lovely-dovey – we are getting to know some of the other Happily Inc. residents.
I love reading second-chance romances — and I am delighted this one features high school sweethearts Drew and Silver. The suppressed feelings between these two made for an engaging read. There is a ton going on in this story and it is all amazing. However, the ending was too brief – considering everything that happens.
There was no Grandpa Frank in Why Not Tonight; so I was excited to have him featured more prominently in this release. As a bonus, Susan Mallery gave us readers a new unlikeable character to hate, besides Libby Saunders.
Fun Book. Good read. I was really anxious to read Silver’s story. It was fun learning about Silver’s business, and how she lives her life. Autumn was a great twist, and a fun addition to the story. As much as I love Silver, I’m super excited to read about Wynn. Silver and Drew’s love story is a classic tale of young love and tough decisions. I liked Drew’s character and I wouldn’t mind reading more about him. I read this book twice back-to-back and I may read it again, just for the fun of it. If you’re looking for a sassy, heartwarming read, choose this. You won’t regret it.
Another great book about the residents of Happily Inc. Though this book was a bit slow, the main characters, Silver and Drew, were well developed and their story a good read. Who can pass up a second chance at that one true love. The introduction of Autumn and her story answered many questions from previous books in the series. Unfortunately, other characters introduced were distracting. All in all this is still a good book and hard to put down.
This Happily,Inc story is about Silver & Drew-they were a couple in high school. They ended up having a child they gave up for adoption. Something they haven’t talked about.
Silver owns her own business that she was trying to get a loan from the town bank that is owned by Drew’s family. She gets turned down and Drew finds out. He comes to her with a proposal of going into business together. Can this be a new beginning for them as a couple or will it tear them apart.
I love how Susan Mallery includes characters from her other stories in every story. It’s a way to catch up with the town. Can’t wait to see who’s in the next book.
I am so loving this series. Silver let Drew go years ago because she just knew it was the best thing for him. He must have agreed because he didn’t fight for her then. Now he is trying to help her to expand her business. He thinks he can put the past behind them and help her. Drew’s mom has a plan for him and Silver isn’t part of that plan. When their past comes rushing back, they have to deal with old hurts and decisions. Will they be able to move on after they deal with everything?
Thoughts:
I’ve been a big fan of Susan Mallery’s writing for years. This book was another reminder of her incredible story telling ability. Not Quite Over You is a story of romance that plays on the turmoil of young love and second chances. I loved the characters and quickly fell immersed with all of their stories. I haven’t read the first three books in the series, but I had no problem quickly catching the jest of supporting character’s stories, as well as, enjoying each character. I love the girl posse and the importance they place on their friendships! Susan’s writing captured the depth of their comradery, showcasing the compassion they have for each other. We all could use a posse like theirs!
Susan writes Silver as an easy character to like. She has the perfect mix of strength and vulnerability. Silver’s beautiful and compassionate nature is displayed through everything she does from life choices to interactions with other characters. I felt my heart tugging during all of her experiences. Drew is swoon worthy! Despite my frustrations with how easily he let Silver walk away after high school, he definitely redeemed himself. He is another character that Susan takes the time to demonstrate his level of compassion. Not only his depth of concern for Silver, but his friends and community as well. I love that he wants to correct the wrongs and has the strength to fight. Susan writing gets you emotionally embroiled in the story. I was chuckling during good parts and frustratingly angry at Drew’s mother during her parts. EEK! There is so much I want to say, but don’t want to give spoilers. So let me say the most important thing. I really enjoyed this story. Susan does romance well! I recommend reading this book!
I read an ARC of this story. My honest and fair review is voluntary.
