Susan Mallery, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances, proves there’s nowhere better than Happily Inc to rekindle first love.Silver Tesdal has a head for business and a mouth made for kissing, and banker Drew Lovato has his eye on both. But ever since he was dumb enough to let her go, she’s kept him at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a … at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a double opportunity—he can finance her brilliant, unique idea to rock Happily Inc’s wedding industry and win back her trust.
Despite her reputation, Silver’s not as tough as she seems. Losing Drew nearly destroyed her. Still, his kisses are as tempting as his offer to invest in her business. If she can’t quite get over him, maybe she should get under him and knock him out of her system once and for all.
But her best laid plans begin to unravel as Silver finds herself falling even harder than when they were high school sweethearts. Which means that she’ll have to come clean about the secret she’s been hiding from him for years—and risk losing him forever.

This little town of Happily Inc. is so fascinating! The author has created unique and interesting characters that aren’t bigger than life but rather just like you and me! Second chances aren’t always possible in life but they are so much better when they work out.
Silver Tesdal has become a part of the community wedding business and a part of a close knit group of women that many of us want but never have. Her high school romance with Drew Lovato wasn’t meant to be and she’d do almost anything to change that. Between her friends and business, she’s got a chance to make that happen when he offers to be her business partner after his aunt at the bank turned down her loan.
He’s determined to be a part of her life even if she won’t completely let him in. And when he finds out her deepest secret, he’s not so sure the future he had envisioned is the right one for him.
These townspeople are so real that you want to move there yourself! You’ll love this story and won’t want to end it on that last page!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for this review.
This book lets us into the lives of Silver and Drew and also previous characters. They fell in love when they were teenagers and Drew broke her heart. Years later she walks into a bank for a loan and in walks Drew. This is a great second chance love story. A must read I couldn’t put the book down.
I was so excited to return to Happily Inc. and it did not disappoint. Don’t we all remember our first love. For Silver she has a lasting memory and a secret that she has kept from Drew. Silver has never felt good enough for Drew but now they have become partners in Alcohaul. Silver will soon need to divulge her secret to Drew. As their relationship heats up once again will Drew be able to get Silver to give him a second chance.
Loved , loved this book of second chances. Silver is such a strong person, so use to being on her own. I love her business. Drew knows what he wants, that is Silver, and now her only needs to prove it to her, despite his mother (what a mess). Autumn, is just so darn cute!! I always love this quirky fun town, it was great catching up with previous characters.
Susan Mallery does it again with her 4th book set in Happily Inc. It can be read as a stand a lone book but if you like series this is a great one. Happily Inc. is a wedding destination town, the people that live there are involved in the wedding business. Silver, has a great business she owns a mobile bar Alcohaul! Business is so good she wants to expand but her loan at the bank is turned down. Enter Drew, he works at the bank and was Silvers boyfriend until he went away to college. Drew wants to spend more time with Silver and comes us with a plan to become her partner so she can expand her business.
Drew and Silver still have a lot of chemistry and seems they might be able to go forward but there is a secret that needs to be shared and family drama to deal with.
This is a very enjoyable story. Both Drew and Silver are great characters, people you would like to know. Setting the story in Happily Inc. you get to check in on characters you met in the previous books. I highly recommend this book.
Just the title gives you a hint of what’s to come. I think we all have something like this in our collective pasts, and if not a personal story, you probably know someone like this. A first love. A summer of wonder. All consuming passion. Then nothing…or perhaps something that’s so hard, nothing else matters.
Not Quite Over You looks at first love and how a second chance might become forever.
Silver and Drew have a past. A love that was bright and hot and doomed, at least it seemed that way to Silver as a high school graduate who wanted her boyfriend to be free during his college years. It seemed like breaking up was a good thing to do at the time, although Silver was heartbroken. Drew wasn’t ready to say goodbye either, but headed off to college unencumbered, and soon realized that Silver was right. Reality steps in, and they soon have to face adult consequences.
In her trademark style, Susan Mallery uses the funky small town, the cast of sometimes over the top inhabitants, and an understanding of all things romance to craft another fabulous story set in Happily Inc. We get to catch up with the characters who’ve already found their HEA. We learn more about Drew and his family’s often harsh interactions. We learn why Silver doesn’t think she’s ever deserved Drew, and the secret that might tear their ‘second chance at love’ apart.
Fabulous book. A keeper for sure!
As usual Susan Mallery has written a laugh out loud, sniffle over the sad parts, want to yell at the characters in the story to get it together book. I cried, I laughed and I said “I didn’t see THAT coming”. It was just as wonderful as the three previously published Happily, Inc. books. You don’t have to read the others to enjoy this one, but if you don’t, you’ll be missing out on a wonderful series.
Silver Tesdal is the owner of a wonderful bar on wheels business and it has become quite popular for the weddings that are held in the town. Drew Lovato is a hometown boy who moved back home after college to work in the family’s bank hoping to one day run it. The two were in love, at least Silver was, their senior year of high school but college took Drew away and he seemed happy to go. All these years later Silver has tried to keep her distance pushing the feelings she had for a boy down deep and away from the man he is today. When she decides she wants to expand her business she goes to the bank for a loan but is turned down by his Aunt who seems to hate her. Drew, who doesn’t understand why Silver won’t have anything to do with him looks on this as a gift and makes himself an unwanted partner in Silver’s business. On the outside she portrays herself as a tough but deep down she’s just like everyone else, one emotional upheaval away from breaking, because losing Drew nearly destroyed her all those years ago. Drew isn’t one to give up so he slowly makes himself a much needed part of her life and this time he wants things to last. Follow along as these two work through a secret past that they haven’t shared with anyone but will have to soon enough. Will they be able to look beyond the hurts of years past and make a future together or will to many people stand in their way. This was an emotional read that had me laughing and crying sometimes at the same time. The characters were two pieces to a puzzle that I wanted to fit together in the end. The author really knows how to take you on an emotional ride.
Silver and Drew are multidimensional characters, and I love that about them. They have flaws, secrets, and are real people with real emotions. They have a past together, but that was a long time ago, and while Silver is still trying to keep her distance from Drew, he is making it impossible. When Silver wants to purchase items for her business, and the bank turns her down, Drew steps in to help. Silver is strong and independent. She’s not sure if accepting Drew’s offer is what she really wants to do, but she knows deep down that accepting will help her business become even more successful. Can they put aside their feelings from the past, and work together? You will have to read this book to find out. Susan Mallery writes wonderful stories, and I highly recommend Not Quite Over You.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
I loved the book!
Silver was in love w/ Drew, but it was not enough
Drew was in love w/ Silver, but it was not enough
Now they have are given a second chance.
Will they fight for their love ? or is their past still controlling them ?
This was such a sweet story.
I loved the storytelling + the characters.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
We finally find out all Silvers secrets and get to fall in love with Drew.
I absolutely adored this story, it had everything. Secrets, surprises and romance. I thought Libby was a horrible person and Mother but Sylvia has her beat by a mile. Wonderfully evil. The rest of the characters are just wonderful
Happily Inc is as fantastic as Fool’s Gold.
I probably say this on every review of this series, but I want to live in Happily Inc! This sounds like a wonderful small town and while not perfect has enough positive that draws me into the town.
I also love this story because I was part of a (large!) group that helped create one of the characters in the book and the basic story line. This was at the author’s Girlfriend Getaway in 2017. We came up with Mr. Whiskers. I was rooting for a turtle, but a bunny won out. Either way, I really enjoyed seeing how the author took our ideas and weaved them into the story.
This book focuses on Silver and Drew. I admire Silver for everything she has gone through in her life and for creating AlcoHaul. What a unique idea for a business which fits perfectly into the town and Weddings Out of the Box. Drew has his own issues, mainly his mother. I am still shocked at how callous she is towards Drew and refusing to listen to what he wants from life. Thankfully his father is down to earth and can see what Drew really wants.
Silver and Drew have a past but they are able to work through it all. There are ups and downs, but if everything went smoothly with no issues then the book wouldn’t be as engaging. I was a little surprised at a few events near the end, but when I thought about how certain situations played out, it is probably for the best.
I also enjoyed a little peek into Jasper and Wynn’s life/relationship. There is a lot more to tell regarding Wynn and I can’t wait to hear her back story. We know there is one based on her comments to Jasper and her rules for their relationship.
Just finished another wonderful visit in Happily Inc by way of ‘Not Quite Over You’. Got to meet Autumn, the daughter Silver had with Drew and gave up for adoption. Silver and Drew’s story is filled with ups and downs but interesting and fun. Cade and Princess Bethany had the fun, wonderful pre-wedding party she wanted…..am looking forward to the royal wedding. I’m looking forward to Jasper’s story……also Renee’s. This is yet another Susan Mallery book I hated to put down or to end.
Not Quite Over You by Susan Mallery is the latest in the Happily Inc, series. Silver has been one of my favorite characters all the way along and I loved getting to know more about her and see her reach her HEA. Drew is her perfect match. This is a second chance romance that doesn’t disappoint. The secondary story of Wynn and Jasper has me curious as to what’s coming next for those two.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Love the friendship among the characters.
A second chance romance. Silver has applied for a loan through the last bank in town. She has a business plan to expand her traveling bar business. The bank turns her down, but Drew, seeing her as a small business owner who should’ve been loaned the money, decides to partner with her.
This situation is loaded with foreseeable problems, since Drew’s aunt is the bank official who turned Silver down. And since Drew and Silver used were involved after high school until Drew went off to college . . .
The personalities are both strong and the forces of family are also influential. A very fast read as their relationship redevelops…
Susan Mallery does it again – another story of hope and love. While it took this couple long enough, Drew and Silver finally let love win.
The characters are well-developed and the storyline flows. I like the fact that the characters in the town of a Happily, Inc. continue to be part of each other’s stories. I look forward to finding out what happens to Silver and Drew as the bigger story continues to unfold.
If you are looking for a good contemporary romance to brighten your day, this is a good one.
fun addition to this series. I liked how the Silver expanded her business and the author included a scene that had one of those ideas epically failing and how that changed the business plan again.
I love Susan Mallery’s contemporary romances, and this is part of her Happily Inc series, set in a unique, wedding-focused town. This is a romantic second-chance-at-love story.
This is a novella that precedes Blakely’s book, Birthday Suit. It is really short–like a 20 minute read. The book sets up the story of Ginny and Noah. Ginny is a 35-year old single mother who is the Director of Marketing at a chocolate company. Men have a history of disappointing her and she’s not looking for romance. Then she meets Noah, the 25-year old that is hired to the be Director of Sales at her company. They immediately hit it off but Ginny is wary of dating, especially a man that is 10 years her junior. But Noah is not giving up…..
That is pretty much where the book ends. It is a great set up of Ginny and Noah’s story. The reason I only gave this 3 stars is because I was disappointed in how their story plays out in the next book, Birthday Suit. They definitely exist as secondary characters in the next book but there’s not a lot of attention given to them or the development of their story. At the end of the next book it does mention they are together but there’s no real satisfaction in that. This book is like a delicious tease that leaves you hanging and unfulfilled.
fun
