Susan Mallery, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances, proves there’s nowhere better than Happily Inc to rekindle first love.Silver Tesdal has a head for business and a mouth made for kissing, and banker Drew Lovato has his eye on both. But ever since he was dumb enough to let her go, she’s kept him at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a … at a distance. When the bank turns her down for a loan, Drew sees a double opportunity—he can finance her brilliant, unique idea to rock Happily Inc’s wedding industry and win back her trust.
Despite her reputation, Silver’s not as tough as she seems. Losing Drew nearly destroyed her. Still, his kisses are as tempting as his offer to invest in her business. If she can’t quite get over him, maybe she should get under him and knock him out of her system once and for all.
But her best laid plans begin to unravel as Silver finds herself falling even harder than when they were high school sweethearts. Which means that she’ll have to come clean about the secret she’s been hiding from him for years—and risk losing him forever.

This is the 4th book in the Happily Inc series. Each one just keeps getting better. I didn’t think I’d like this series after following the Fool’s Gold series, but I was wrong. Susan Mallery weaves a wonderful story of close friends, family, town and of course love. This story was about second chances at an everlasting love for Silver and Drew. I was completely drawn into the story with a few tears, laughter and hope. Well done! Looking forward to the next in the series.
What can I say about a clueless hero that has a heart of gold, but had feet of clay as a teen? That’s Drew Lovato – hometown golden boy. Or what to say about a heroine who has no idea what she is worth – to herself and others – because she has been badly…bruised is a good word…when life has knocked her down? Considering she has gotten up, brushed herself off, and made something of herself, she should be proud. Only there are some that keep reminding her which side of the tracks she came from…
Drew has a lot to learn about life and Silver; most of his “schooling” comes from a pint sized whirlwind by the name of Autumn. What a fantastic journey he has! It made me smile, it made me want to smack him upside the head sometimes, and most of all it put me firmly in his corner, cheering him on. Even though he grew up with money and family prestige, he needed to face some pretty strong characters in his family in order to grow up and fight for what he wanted.
And Silver… She is strong and smart and beautiful and sassy as all get-out. Underneath it all, she is still hurting from her teenage love and breakup with Drew but she has made something of herself. When she finally realizes no one can take that away from her, she opens herself to many possibilities.
As with most of Ms. Mallery’s characters, there is love, and snootiness, and down-to-earthness (I know it’s not a word but it fits!), and fun, and snark. Gotta have snark. Seriously, Not Quite Over You was a great read, with ups and downs, fun and tears, but most of all, love. I really enjoyed this book and it has become one of my favorites of this author.
Another interesting visit the characters of Happily Inc! This time we find Silver and Drew trying to decide if they can be business partners while Drew has to figure out the tangle of family connections that threaten to drag him under. The dynamic between the characters, their friendships and the townspeople is what truly brings you back to this series, but the entertaining plot helps as well. A sweet story that has a happily ever after makes for a sweet afternoon read! I look forward to my next visit to Happily, Inc.
Silver has a pretty good life in Happily, Inc. with her business, Alco-haul, and friends. She’s perfectly happy with her life, even though she sees Drew, her high school flame, all over town. She’s over him. She wants to expand her business, but the bank refuses to lend her the money. Then he becomes her partner and starts getting involved in her business and in her life. There’s also that little secret she’s been keeping from him for the last 12 years that could blow up in her face when she tells him. However, Silver and Drew get their HEA. This was a really fun read, as are most of Susan Mallery’s books. I really enjoyed the Audible narration by Tonya Eby, too!
Silver Tesdal is in integral part of the wedding industry in Happily Inc. She is smart, funny, creative and an excellent business woman. Her friends support her in her endeavor to expand.
Drew Lovato works for the bank. He is the most responsible person and makes treating everyone who comes in fairly. He was also Silver’s first love and the family felt she wasn’t good enough for him. From her being turned down, Drew decides to loan her the money to expand. The only stipulation is that they become partners. It was fun to see them work together and start to fall in love all over again. But their past is hanging out there. Old hurts surface. Who and what can you trust? Love the weddings in this book!
Good second chance romance. It can be read as a stand-alone but is better read in order for the backgrounds of the other characters. Silver and Drew were high school sweethearts and very much in love despite the obstacles. Drew was from a wealthy family, while Silver was from the wrong side of the tracks. When it was time for Drew to leave for college, Silver broke up with him. She felt he would be better off without her holding him back, and could experience college life as it was meant to be.
Twelve years later, Drew is back in Happily, Inc., and still drawn to Silver. Silver has created a good life for herself as the owner/operator of a traveling bar business. She is doing well enough that she wants to expand, but the local bank has turned down her loan application. When Drew found out, he offered to finance Silver’s expansion himself, by buying in as a minority partner. Silver isn’t so sure that she wants to chance that close an involvement with him.
I really liked both Silver and Drew. Silver is feisty, independent, and determined. She has fought hard to make her business a success, overcoming the obstacles in her path. I loved her creativity in her business as she took her strengths and ran with them. She is also fiercely independent, determined to make it on her own. She has made mistakes in the past, but she admits them and moves on. Drew is a great guy. Silver’s background had never mattered to him; it was the person she was that he loved. Though their breakup hurt him, he later admitted that she had been right about his need to spread his wings. He’s older and wiser now and wants to get to know her again. Drew also had to fight a battle on a second front, as family expectations butted up against Drew’s plans for his future.
I enjoyed the rekindling of their relationship. The sparks between them were there from the beginning, and Drew was all for following up on them. Silver is a bit more cautious, not wanting to risk her heart again. When Silver decided to accept Drew’s offer, she also had the strength to negotiate the terms the way she wanted them. I enjoyed the way that Drew was determined to be more than just a silent partner, and the effort he put in to learn the business. He also stuck to learning and backup and didn’t try to take things over. I loved seeing them get to know each other again, and how the chemistry between them continued to build. When they finally gave in to the passion, they were determined to keep it casual, but neither could stop the way their feelings for each other continued to grow. Through it all, Silver is haunted by a secret she has kept from Drew. She has to find a way to tell him before he finds out for himself. I ached for Silver because she was afraid it would ruin what had been building between them. I was pretty impressed with Drew, who, once he got past his initial knee-jerk reaction, was able to see things from Silver’s point of view. There was also some interference from Drew’s mother, whose attitude did a number on Silver’s insecurities. Drew had some things he had to face also, and I loved the source of some of the advice he got. The ending was terrific, with a couple of unexpected twists.
There was a secondary story going on that I wouldn’t exactly call a romance. Wynn and Jasper have had an understanding for a while. Wynn laid down the rules, and Jasper has gone along. But something happened that went against those rules and Jasper knew he’d been living on borrowed time. If Wynn found out, there would be trouble. Part of the problem is that Jasper seems to have developed a yearning for something more, but Wynn is determined to keep her life as it is. I ached for Jasper, and really wanted to shake Wynn. I’m curious to see if something develops later between them, or if they are destined for other people.
I loved catching up with other residents of Happily, Inc. The previous couples are all moving forward with their relationships, and I loved seeing all the interactions. I especially enjoyed the various meetings that Drew was involved in and his amazement and appreciation for the intertwined businesses. I still want to shake Libby and her uptight snottiness toward those she deems unworthy. The real “winner” of this book, though, was Drew’s mother. I detested the way that she had planned out Drew’s life and how she completely ignored his attempts to show her that he had his own plans. Her plans to suck up to Bethany’s parents were irritating. I hated the way she treated Silver, and her completely callous reaction to what Drew told her was nuts. If I were Drew, I would have cut her completely out of my life. Though I initially thought his father was just as bad, he turned out to be much better than I expected. I liked seeing more of Grandpa Frank. I love how he keeps his fingers in the pies of the people of Happily, Inc., and his help in Drew and Silver’s relationship was just what they needed. I also loved Autumn, who was bright and amazingly insightful. She has some interesting conversations with both Silver and Drew.
Susan Mallery has done it again! This is another great book with several plots going on, that will keep you so involved in the character’s lives. This is the 4th book in the Happily Inc. series (also an ebook which would be 2.5, I suppose).
This book focuses on Drew and Silver. They were first loves when they were young. At 19 Drew was going off to college, when Silver let him go, since she did not want to hold him back from the future he deserved. She then discovered that she was pregnant. Silver went to visit Drew and tell him, found that he had moved on and they agreed to adoption. Years later they come into each other’s lives again and Silver then has to tell Drew that she has kept in touch with the adoptive family and their daughter, who is now 11 years old.
This is a great story of love in the best form. Putting your own self interest aside for those that you love.
I enjoyed this book so much. I want to start the next book in the series now, and not leave the town of Happily Inc., but I have to wait patiently for Susan to spin her magic and create the rest of the books for this series.
Drew’s tactic for ensuring a heart stopping romance with his old high school flame, Silver is full of twists and turns, side s loop pitting laughter, and heart warming feels. As with all of Susan Mallery’s books, she doesn’t disappoint! I’ve read most, if not all, of her works and there is not a one that fails to capture and hold my interest. I highly recommend this and all her other books
Love these books. I haven’t found one of Susan Mallery’s books that I haven’t totally enjoyed.
Not Quite Over You is a second chance romance, and the 4th book in the Happily Inc. Series . Silver Tesdal and Drew Lovato are high school sweethearts who went their separate ways. Silver is having difficulties getting the funding to expand her business. Drew comes in and wants to fund the expansion of Silver’s business because he believes in her and her business.
Susan gives you the background of this relationship as she brings them back together, and you feel all of the emotions as you root for this couple. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Not quite over you was such a great story. This was an awesome second chance romance. We meet Silver and Drew in this story. They were high school sweethearts that forwent their separate ways after high school. The chemistry we see with these two awesome characters will have you wanting more of their story. Love this authors writing style and how you get sucked into the story. Definitely give this one a 5 star rating.
Great read for a rainy day or a vacation treat. It was nice to go back to happily inc and see old friends or meet new ones. Susan Mallery has a wonderful way with words. She often addresses what is happeniing in the real world with humor and sensitivity . While this is a stnd alone book would recommend reading the other three in the series also.
I really liked reading about Silver and Drew. I’m not a huge fan of second chance romance but this one really worked. I liked the backstory that they had. Although they dated less in the past then I thought. I loved the story of how Silver connected with someone from both their pasts. With out giving any spoilers because that was another thing about this book, it had an unexpected plot. Which made it 5 Stars in my book. This will definitely be a reread for me.
Thanks to the author for giving me a hardback copy to read and review in my own opinion. I’m stingy giving away 5 stars.
Great small town contemporary romance with a nice twist on an adoption story, combined with a second-chance romance. I’ve been wondering what Silver and Drew’s story would be and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Witty banter between the two main characters and it felt a little more edgy in some ways than the others so far in this series. Just a bit more ‘tude in a good way 🙂
Mallery brings readers back to the quirky little town of Happily, Inc., where weddings happen. There’s not much that happens in a small town that everyone doesn’t know about. However, Silver and Drew have been able to keep there little secret for years.
The characters and their emotional baggage will draw you in and make you want to work it all out. This is an interesting and engaging story of what love truly is. I want more of Drew and Silver! This was such a great story. I read it in one day.
I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary copy of this book.
I think part of why I love Susan mallery is that each book connects to one of the others. You never lose sight of her family of characters. You just pick up one with each new book. I really enjoyed Drew and Silver’s story. Look for more books to come.
Not Quite Over You by Susan Mallery
Silver Tesdal and Drew Lovato are the main characters, Silver owns a portable bar that is used for weddings and Drew is a banker, they go in business together so she can expand her business from being able to do one wedding a day to being able to do up to three at a time. They have to deal with their past relationship in the journey to have a good relationship now. It was a very good book. I had hard time putting down. Recommend it to anyone looking for a good book to read.
Another awesome story by SM!!! I just love this town and the people in it. I can’t imagine all that Silver and Drew went thru over the years between their relationship and their families. They are a great couple to read about and I just know you will love them too! I highly recommend this book! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
As usual, Susan had me hooked within the very first paragraph. She truly has a gift. Then we met Drew and Silver. Even with their past, they were clearly meant to be. I was an awed disbelief by their relationship with Autumn, throughout the book.
The peeks we got, and to Bethany and Cade’s story force me to go and reread Susan’s Sheikh series…again. of course, when I say “forced”, I mean I was doing a happy dance while they were being downloaded on my Kindle.
Also, I have many questions and some concerns about Jasper and Wynn. I’m sure I will love whatever Susan does, but the suspense is torture.
I loved this book, as I always do.
I can’t wait to see what will happen next!
P.S. Susan… can babies please be on the way soon for Natalie and Silver?
Happy reading!
Note: I have voluntarily read and reviewed and ARC of this title.
Rating 5 stars
I really enjoy reading about the town of Happily, inc. who doesn’t love a town built for weddings? The characters were relatable and I love the idea of a mobile bar.
