From New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the sixth novel in the warm and witty Not Quite series. No one drives in New York City. Everyone knows that, including California transplant Rachel Price. But that doesn’t stop her from driving into the city. From Connecticut. Every single morning. Rain or shine…or snow. When she runs the charismatic and … snow.
When she runs the charismatic and good-looking Jason Fairchild off the road, their immediate spark is met with bad timing. There is also one tiny little detail: Jason is her boss. And a woman as intelligent and dedicated to her career as Rachel knows not to date her boss.
As CEO of a private jet company, Jason Fairchild is more used to flying than driving. But if he hadn’t chosen to drive home one night, he wouldn’t have met the slowest—and most irresistible—driver in the entire metro area. Jason has never had time for love. Or dating. Or really anything that doesn’t involve work. But when he finds out that Rachel is the newest superstar in his marketing department, he can’t help wondering if fate has other plans…

This book is number six in the Not Quite series. I loved every single book and have even reread some of them. Each book has a different scenario with research done on different subjects. This author, Catherine Bybee, is one of my favorites. So are her other books, which I strongly recommend.
I started at number 6 in this series, but it has me wanting to read the rest of the series. An awesome book. I do love Catherine Bybee’s books. They’re both funny, moving and so easy to read.
It’s been a really long time since I’ve visited the folks in this series. When I finished Not Quite Perfect I couldn’t even find information as to if there would be another book in the series. I’m really glad we got another story out of this series.
The dynamic between Rachel and her quasi-son Owen is lovely and tender and just truly magnificent. Owen has quite a bit of teenage sass, but not in a negative way. The boy has been through so much in his short life that it’s really a miracle he’s such a great kid, which shows how wonderful Rachel has been doing with him.
The way Jason instantly feels at ease with Rachel and Owen and just jumps right into their little family is so very sweet. He keeps himself hovering on the line between overbearing and a true knight in shining armor. He somehow finds a way to keep things on the right side of that line. Jason is fantastic with Owen and enjoys spending time with him, which come across as very genuine.
The connection between Rachel and Owen is apparent from the very beginning. I loved the pull they had which led to a build up of sexual tension since Rachel was trying to do the right thing…not date her boss. The wonderful thing about their connection is that it made them having a relationship inevitable. It was just such a natural progression, even when Rachel was trying to hold back.
Now that, from the acknowledgement at the end, it seems I have finished this series, as well as this author’s Most Likely To series and The Weekday Brides series (and loved them all) I will have to start looking at the other series this author has out there. She really writes in such a real and open manner that endears her characters to the reader.

Fun, light read about a marketing girl who has legal guardianship of a 15-year-old boy, the son of her now dead best friend. He is black; she is white. She moved them to New York City to be closer to the boys biological family. By chance she met the owner of the company that she works for but didn’t know who he was. Somewhat predictable, they fell in love and successfully navigated issues of raising a teenage son and relationships with his biological family.
Fun Fact: Catherine Bybee is the first author I found via my fancy new Kindle circa 2012.
Since then I have upgraded Kindles (twice) but my love for the fun and pretty worlds Ms. Bybee creates has endured. It has been a little while since I read the previous books in the Not Quite Series so I couldn’t quite remember all the details. That wasn’t a problem with Not Quite Crazy! It stands completely on its own and I was quickly re-introduced to the dreamy and wealthy Fairchild brothers.
Jason Fairchild, CEO of a private jet company gets stuck in a ditch on a snowy night. Recent California transplant Rachel Price fishes him out.
Right from the beginning Rachel and Jason have an easy chemistry and witty dialogue. I instantly related to Rachel’s do-it-yourself independent streak. Jason is a nice guy. I know that sounds boring but I promise he’s not. I think nice heroes are completely underrated in modern romance novels. Jason is strong, responsible, and deeply caring. The total package. The problem? He is the CEO at Rachel’s new job.
One issue that did give me pause is how persistent Jason was after Rachel (very logically) told him she could not date her boss. At the end of the day, that’s not the biggest problem Jason and Rachel face as a couple but it did worry me as a reader.
My absolute favorite aspect of this romance (besides Jason’s perfect one-liners, the man had gilded tongue *badum tish*) was how rock solid Jason and Rachel were as a couple. No spoilers but, they endured events that would shake the foundations of established marriages when they had only been dating for weeks. They were both ready for love even if one of them wasn’t completely aware of it (looking at you Rach). By the time the of the HEA I was grinning like a looney tune. This whole book centered around the family you choose which always makes me a little weepy.
Upon reflection, at the backbone of this story is a beautiful female friendship. Now excuse me while I go call my best friend and tell her I love her.

Number 6 in series- great story.
Love all of her books!
I love anything that Catherine Bybee writes and this was no exception.
Catherine Bybee has become one of my all time favorite authors. I started with this series and can’t get enough of her books. I have re-read all of her series again and again.
This was such a nice book! I really enjoyed the characters (and getting to know them) as well as the storyline.
4.5 Stars for “Not Quite Crazy”
The last installment of the “Not Quite” series included more adventure and suspense. I loved every minute of it
THIS IS A WONDERFUL STORY ABOUT AN INTELLIGENT WOMAN WITH A FINE JOB WHO ADOPTED THE SON OF A DEAR FRIEND WHO DIED, IT IS ROMANTIC AND BELIEVABLE AT THE SAME TIME, AND I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO FIND ANOTHER BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR!
This is the last book in the Not Quite series by Cathrine Bybee. The series kept me reading every spare minute I had. After getting started with the first book recently I realized I had read it before but kept reading and enjoyed reading them all again. Bybee keeps my interest in the stories she writes and the way the characters are woven throughout the books makes you want to keep reading.
Excellent addition to the series.
I love Catherine Bybee and this one does not disappoint! This series is a bit older, but all the books are stand alones and it was nice to dive back into that world. I devoured this book in a day, much to the detriment of my own responsibilities! 🙂
A little formulaic if you’ve read other Bybee books (wealthy family throws resources behind troubled damsel – again), but a good read.
Great read. Could put down.
I am hooked on the Not Quite series. This one was like a fairy tale. Girl works while raising her best friends son, stops to help a stranger during a snow storm, and stranger changes her life. The catch? The stranger is her boss and CEO of a private jet company.
The stranger is Jason Fairchild. He lives to work. Until a fateful night when Rachel Price gives him a ride after is Audi swerves into a snow ditch. Immediately when these two met the reader could feel the attraction. I knew their story would be interesting, fun, and sexy. I loved that Jason immediately took into account that Rachel was a mom. He made plans, dates that included Owen. He connected with Owen just as quickly as he connected with Rachel.
Not Quite Crazy is a fun and fast read. The storyline was enjoyable, quick, and easy to follow. There was flirting, sexy fun, and family time. Add in some drama, some family discord, and some scary mom moments and it is the perfect story. There are twists and turns throughout the story that changes some of the storylines from where I thought they were going to go but the ending was perfect. I ended with hope for Owen to be happy and a full heart for Rachel to be living life her way with Jason who is going to give her the world.
I definitely recommend picking up your own copy of Not Quite Crazy.
As she’s shown time and again, Bybee is a wonder at creating characters you connect with. Rachel is kind, responsible, and strong. She struggles when she finds out that the hottie she helped is her boss, but Jason proves pretty hard to resist. Because, for being a billionaire CEO, Jason is down-to-earth, caring, and dependable … he’s also pretty set on getting what he wants. (I’m pretty sure their courtship is one of the sweetest things I’ve read in a long time!)
I also fell for their assorted friends & family. They are all friendly, kind, and willing to pitch in to do what needs to be done. While there is drama, some that you see coming and some that is unexpected (but none of it causing strife in the actual romance which I appreciate), it’s never over the top. Instead the struggle just helps to deepen their assorted connections and intensify an already emotional story.
As much about friends and family as it is a love story, Not Quite Crazy continues Bybee’s streak of delivering must-read stories full of love in a multitude of forms.
