Once, you were everything that I wanted. After you left, I lost everything. But then you waltzed back into my life: confident, arrogant, and as dark and as beautiful as ever. You never cheated and you never lied, but that doesn’t mean that what you did didn’t hurt. My hatred for you is a fire, you’ll never extinguish. You know this and you take my hand anyway. I want to push you away, but you won’t … take my hand anyway. I want to push you away, but you won’t let me.
What happens when I start to cave?
What happens when all of my rage becomes the opposite of hate?

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
This book is about two college students Alice and Hudson, who are ex’s, that are thrown together into co-ed living.
Let the fun begin
This first book is the push and pull of how two people are supposed to live together who used to date and are now starting the whole college experience together.
Charlotte Byrd is an absolutely fantastic author and this book is an amazing book which I completely absorbed in one sitting
3.5 Stars
I love this author but this book just was one that I couldn’t grasp. I just didn’t like Hudson at all. This while scenario was a tough one but I will still read the second one, I gotta find out what happens.
It starts as best friends to boyfriend/girlfriend to broken up and then college roommates. What?!
Alice and Hudson have been childhood friends and things progress to boyfriend / girlfriend. After graduation from high school they both leave LA and go to NYC. But before entering college Hudson breaks up with Alice. She’s heartbroken and expects not to see Hudson in college. But the unimaginable happens and they end up being roommates with two other people.
Alice is so wrapped up in suffering the failed relationship and goes back and forth from suffering to moving on then coming back to it. While Hudson just continues on with his life. Though at times it seems that he hasn’t quite gotten over it yet.
Meanwhile college life for them and Dylan and Juliet, their other two roommates progresses as typical. Parties, dating and getting to know each other and their lives.
Alice is so stuck into herself that the story pings back and forth with her feelings for Hudson. It gets to be irritating for this reader. But then Hudson looks after her as well that they really need to do some growing up. Juliet and Dylan have great personalities to add to Hudson and Alice’s characters. I enjoyed reading the book though I did get tired of Alice at times. She’s eighteen years old and shows it.
Definitely recommend this book. Charlotte Byrd has written a good book. It is a series though so I can’t wait to read the second book of this series.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I am loving Charlotte Byrd writing longer format books. Nicholas and Olivia are a phenomenal couple and they are fully fleshed out in this book. I started reading this while I was waiting to finally get my gray hair colored due to salon’s being closed down. I’m sitting in my car waiting to get called in and I decided to read this book I was immediately immersed after a chapter or so. Only my vanity let me put this book down and go into the salon when called. By the time I went to bed that night, I looked ten years younger and was already antsy for book #2. Charlotte Byrd most likely writes fascinating grocery list, and super sexy budgets..she a goddess in this genre.
I received an arc for a fair and honest review.
Not Into You’ is the first book of a 2 book series by Charlotte Byrd. In this series we meet Hudson and Alison. We get to experience their young love and heartbreak as they grow into adulthood. This book drips with emotion and keeps the reader completely invested in the story. This book will keep you on edge and anticipating the next book in the series.
Not Into You by Charlotte Byrd was a fast paced story about what happens to Allison on her first day at college when she learns that one of her roommates is non other than her ex boyfriend Hudson who broke up with her after being together for two years. Now these two will begin a love hate relationship as Allison is trying to move on from Hudson but is having a hard time. When they decide to talk and try to get along, Hudson never really admits why he broke things off but by his actions he is still into her. When he now starts dating one of Allison’s study partner things become awkward. Now Allison is doing all she can to get over this dark, sexy arrogant young man by dating an artist named Simon which has Hudson jealous and sending mix signals. As their relationship progresses, Allison decides to go way for the weekend with Simon much to Hudson’s anger and warning that things are not what they seem with Simon. Now Allison discovers that Hudson was right about Simon and she leaves the cabin trying to get back to college, but along the way Hudson shows up. Allison is stubborn as ever refusing to hear Hudson out, but when Hudson tells her he never stopped loving her she decides to go back with him as these two just can’t stop the emotions and desires they feel for each other. Now we have to wait for the next book in this duet to find out if these two will be able to be together or will circumstances get in the way of their happiness. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This young love novel is a departure from what I usually read and definitely the first book of it’s kind I have read by Charlotte Byrd. The characters are obviously young, confused and growing into their independence. I enjoyed this book even though it is not my typical or preferred genre. For my preference it lacked the intense drama and edgy characters that I find in books I really like. Simply put this a calm novel from an incredible author. I would recommend especially folks who like a relatively calm read.
Not Into You was a good coming of age story. It had everything you could ask for drama, jealousy, friendships, and plenty of emotions. Alice and Hudson broke up and now they’re roommates at college. We follow them on their journey. It flowed well and the cast of characters were great. Can’t wait for the next to book.
4.5 stars
Moving on from a breakup after a long relationship is never easy and Ms. Byrd has penned a story that will resonate with readers as anyone who has loved and lost understands. Alice and Hudson grew up together and were best friends before they entered into a relationship. However, when Hudson moved away, things changed that ultimately led to the two breaking up just before starting college. As Alice becomes more excited to leave home and head to Columbia University in New York, she gets the surprise of her life when it turns out that one of her roommates is none other than her ex, Hudson. At times it is painful to watch this turbulent relationship between Alice and Hudson as they try to reconnect, fail and try again. The author has done a remarkable job detailing the emotions that young lovers go through and the challenges that they face when things do not go as planned. It is very easy to empathize with everything that Alice is going through but at times it was overkill and I found myself saying when is enough, enough? The other two roommates add an additional layer to the dynamic and bring more oomph to enhance the overall storyline. This is one storyline with a lot of drama and portrays a realistic look at how two exes have to get along when in a situation that is beyond their control. I look forward to reading the conclusion to Alice and Hudson’s story.
I was glued to this captivating story, it had a whole lot of angst, jealousy and anger that you could feel happening.
Alice is just trying to mend her heart from Hudson when an expected turn that I couldn’t believe happened happens and is so awkward I felt for her.
There is so much feeling that comes along with these characters you’ll be on the edge of your seat to see what twist is coming next.
Wow!! I thought that this book was stunningly good. Alice and Hudson’s story is intensely emotional, deeply moving and incredibly relatable. I felt a real connection to the story being told and to these characters. The complex story delivers a roller coaster ride of deep emotions, tension, turmoil, painful baggage, drama, steam, twists and angst. This is only book one of two, so do try to be prepared for the cliffhanger and to wait for the conclusion. I’m freely choosing to post a truthful review.
Not Into You by Charlotte Byrd
What else can I say but what an exciting start to this duet set. I just love the way Charlotte Byrd weaves this story. I could not put it down till the last page and it left me wanting more. I love it when a story takes you away from everything going on around you and keeps you entertained for the whole first book. It starts out with Alice moving to New York City to go to college. She will have three other roommates, Juliet, Dylan, and Hudson. This is their very interesting story and of course, there are all kinds of twists and turn in their story. I received an advanced reader copy from Bookfunnel and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
A coming of age/growing up/becoming an adult story.
Alice is trying to find her way and life keeps throwing speed bumps in her way. Her Dad, her Ex Boyfriend, Old Friends, New Friends, and College Life…all of it shaping her whether for the good or bad.
Hudson seems to be on the same type of path, but less introspectively. He may have his future planned, but not himself.
I’m not excited about the notes, but, unlike another set of books I’ve reviewed recently, they aren’t taking away from the story.
Wow what a excellent start to a promising new duet.I find Charlotte’s books to be exhilarating, passionate and let’s not forget the sexy as sin characters. Hudson and Alice’s story will have your emotions in a spin cycle one moment your angry then the next your feeling the love, but one thing you can count on is there’s never a dull moment. I can hardly wait to dive into the next book.
I’m loving Alice and Hudson’s story so far and can’t wait for the conclusion to the duet. Hudson broke Alices heart out of the blue and she still hasn’t forgiven him but is excited about this new chapter in her life and starting what she’s hoping will be a adventure in college but everything stops in its tracks when she sees one of her new dorm mates, Hudson!
This book felt like a trip back in memory lane of my years in high school and university. Teenage love struggles and tribulations are real. I enjoyed reading/living the stories of these young characters.
Wow, this is one heck of a ride and I had to hold on tight! I really like Alice, moving across the country to go to college, so soon after a heartbreaking breakup with her long time friend turned boyfriend, Hudson. There are a lot of ups and downs, back and forth and moments that might have your head spinning. I love the dynamic, the friends, the different relationships and that push and pull that seems to always be there between them. I’m looking forward to more of their story, to see where it will go and hoping to dig a bit into what happened before we met them. It’s a must!
Alice and Hudson were best friends since childhood, then became more the last two years of high school. Alice thought they would be together forever but her hopes were dashed when he broke up with her two weeks before heading off to college.
Moving across country from LA to NYC for college was supposed to be the big adventure they both would share together. But Alice hoped at least she might be able to avoid Hudson in a campus this large. So what are the odds he is her suit mate in her dorm? Fate laughs in her face!
Getting over her anger at Hudson and becoming friends is her new plan. She loves her roommate and other suit mate and hopes they can buffer between her and Hudson. What she has to battle are the feelings she still harbors for Hudson.
This is the first of a duet that ends in a cliffhanger. Hopefully we won’t have to wait long for the next part of this Second Chance Romance!
College is supposed to be fun and exciting where you realize and decide where you want to go and what you want to do with your future. This is the start of what promises to be a great series.
