The Windsors are England’s most famous family, but what are they really like when they’re out of the public gaze? Behind closed doors in every Royal residence, from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House, there are two families – one upstairs and one down – and nobody knows a Royal quite like a Royal servant, intimately acquainted as they are with every quirk, foible and eccentricity. And there are … are a fair few! This is the inside story of the Royal Family through the eyes of those who know them best, a sneak peek behind the ermine-trimmed curtains to reveal what they really get up to in their spare time. Are they just like us? Or are they are a world apart? Here are the answers to everything we’ve ever wondered about the Royals: which programmes does the Queen watch on TV? What music did the Queen Mother listen to? Who can drive and who can’t? What is it like to attend a dinner party thrown by Charles and Camilla? Who are the most popular (and most unpopular!) Royals to work for and why? Not in Front of the Corgis is the real Upstairs Downstairs – a unique and fascinating collection of all the secrets you ever wanted to know about the Royal Family.

For whatever reason, I expected more information and humor
Light reading if you want some diversion.
This was an interesting read, informative about the royals, but not riveting. It was an easy read and sometimes funny – read only if you want something light and interesting.
Great book Written well
Like the Royals, it is generally full of boring facts as in who in the household owes what and it doesn’t give away any information that is not already public knowledge. If you are looking for gossip, or insight or inside info, skip it.
It was interesting to see how pampered and demanding they can be – in this day and age to have never had to pick up or pick out your own clothes – wow.
One would need to be passionate about the Royals (and I am!) to love this book. Even for me it was a bit of a slog near the end but I loved the section dealing with how staff views their bosses.
Very interesting book, but only for those who are obsessively interested in the Royal family. Note: this book is before Meghan came on the scene.
Rubbish!
You have to love England’s royalty to really enjoy this book.
A great book for anyone who loves dogs! One children will especially like.
Very interesting!
Was interesting how they live at the palace.

I thought there would be more interesting information in this book but found it dry.
love corgiis! i really do maybe i should get one to keep my yorkie company….nope! he’s not having it! LOL a most enjoyable read
A cute read. Everything you wanted to know about the Royals, and more. Sometimes a little confusing with all the royal titles, but fun.
A tired rehash of silly gossip. Don’t bother. All about money and salaries…quoted in British pounds or Euros. Very dated.
If you enjoy trivia about the royal family then you will enjoy this book. I have enjoyed what I have read so far.
I am an Anglophile who appreciates these tidbits about the life of royals behind the scenes. Well done!
