Being rejected by her birth pack was enough pain for a lifetime and she’ll do anything to avoid subjecting herself to their prejudices.Things change when Ken Birch wakes in her kennel still in wolf form and declares she’s his soul mate. His presence wakes her feral … her feral heart and makes her long for a life she can’t have. Old wounds are opened and she refuses to listen to instinct.
But only a shifter can be a soul mate and now her life is in danger by New Port’s pack. Either Betty learns to shift or she dies. Problem is the only one willing to help is Ken, the last person she wants.

Not His Werewolf is book two in the Not This series by Annie Nicholas. The covers are cute and story is insta-mates.
Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone, but I’ve notice set ups for next books or reviles of things that happened in other books plus previous characters pop up. For me I’ve been skipping around in the Not This series and have no issues with not reading in order.
Betty is a shifter who can not shift and so pack law labels her a human. She has always felt like a part of herself is missing and that she doesn’t fit in, so she’s made her own pack by rescuing animals.
Ken is like the Good Boy next door. He claims Betty as his mate; before he realizes the implications. I enjoyed that he is all in on wooing his lady and going slow; because he knows he could scare her away.
The world Nicholas has created is filled with a verity of supernatural characters. I do like to see a verity of supernaturals. In Not His Werewolf we get to meet the werewolf’s. See a different view on the wolf pack and on Ryota the Alpha who we meet in Not His Dragon, and how rare finding ones mate is among them. We are also treated to some fun banter and Betty and Ken are great together.
Now I’ve noticed that the heroine’s in the Not This series are all down on their luck in someway and the hero’s are all well off and can swoop in and save the day. It’s nice to see the heroines fight tooth and nail to survive, but I’d like some change up. They all seem the same type of heroine. Same goes for the hero’s.
Not His Werewolf was another ok read in the series.
Rated: 3 Stars
The Not This series is a fun series that has paranormals finding love in strange places and fumbling the courtship terribly. Not His Werewolf centers on Ken, werewolf and #2 in the pack order and Betty, a half werewolf who can’t shift. These two are star crossed lovers who’s different backgrounds make for misunderstandings and a rocky path to a HEA. Ms. Nicholas’ writing style is witty and her characters are ones you can root for. B.J. Harrison does a fine job creating voices for each characters. If you like romantic comedies with a bit of bite, check this one out. Enjoy!

Was a good read well written had me laughing love the characters!
Not His Werewolf – Annie Nicholas – This series really is a rom-com! This cast of characters is great, and there really is some comedy special worthy eye rolling in this one! I did have a small groan when I realized that we had a Betty and Ken love story. Kept it just shy of Mattel copyright infringement there lol! Love this series! Happy Reading!
Thumbs up for a truly unusual introduction! Werewolves, beware of dogcatchers!
What a terrific story. Light hearted fun meets craziness. I love all the characters and world building. Can’t wait to see what’s in store next!!
Not His Werewolf is book 2 in the series, but you’d be just fine reading any of them as standalones. We do see Eoin and Angie from book 1, so it’s more fun if you read them in order. 😉
Betty and Angie had a lot in common I thought. Two women who know they have shifter in them but aren’t part of any group because of a hazy past and/or mixed blood heritage. I think Betty had it a bit rougher, since she was raised as part of a pack before being summarily booted out of it when she couldn’t shift. Her adopted ‘pack’ of rescue animals was a fun part of this book. Her character is decently fleshed out with a healthy dose of sarcasm. I liked her.
Ken is an interesting character. I think I liked him best of our main 4 so far. He’s adopted, beta of a pack, a talented businessman, and a loving son (despite the interesting dynamic of having the pack alpha as a father AND being poised to take his position) all while still having a bright outlook. I liked that. I think the two of them made a good pair, and will be a good balance to one another.
I think honestly I laughed more at this book than the last one. If you like your werewolf romance with a healthy dose of laughter, some snark, a bit of steamy-burn-your-parent’s-retinas fun times, a few dragons to make things interesting, some heartwarming devotion from both parents and lovers, and a pinch of hard-core alpha wolf furniture demolition, then this would be a good read for you.
One mistake leads the infuriating Ken to Betty’s home. Betty’s heart was torn to pieces when she was disowned by her pack. It was hard enough to pick up those pieces and move forward with her life but now Ken stirs up old feelings and desires with his adamant insistence that they are soulmates. Should she open herself up to the possibility and fight for what she wants or turn tail and run?
I really enjoyed their story. I loved how close and supportive Betty’s father and mother were. I also adored the sweet moments Ken and Betty shared.
The two had me laughing and smiling with their witty and playful banter. They are definitely perfectly matched.
Gut chuckling good and endearing at the same time
Story content review:
Betty, owner of a struggling animal shelter and a non-shifting werewolf/human half-breed, meets Ken, investment & finance guy and the local werewolf pack beta, when he wakes up in her shelter after a case of mistaken identity. As the story progresses painful pasts are brought up, lies of omission seem harmless at the time, and fighting for what they want is their only way forward. Annie Nicholas’ style of writing is wonderfully sarcastic, witty, and funny. The calamity she puts her characters through while they find love is gut chuckling good and endearing at the same time. I am moving on to read Not His Vampire next to see what she has planned for Victor and Trixie.
Audio book review:
Overall I loved this book this book, the audio performance was witty and lively, conveying the tone of the book well. If one is reading the book and the audio simultaneously there were a some deviations (less than 25 minor) from the printed book, but they did not detract from the overall story and would not be noticed otherwise.
I received a free audio copy of the book from the author for a book I had previously purchased. I had the opportunity to review or not.
NOT HIS WEREWOLF is the second book in the Not This series. Though it is best to read them in the order of release, I had not read the first and was not at all lost.
Absolutely entertaining! Especially when enjoyed as an audiobook. I F-loved this book and I want more of this series. It is fast-paced, well crafted, sexy, funny, quirky, and full of the unexpected. It left me smiling for days.
I loved all of the characters. Their mistakes and their passions are bigger than life. They drew me in and kept me captive in a world I didn’t want to escape.
This is the first book I have read from Annie Nicholas. I will not let it be my last.
Narration: B.J. Harrison did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I fully expected to start seeing dragons flying over my car as I was driving home and listening to NOT HIS WEREWOLF. I would love to listen to more from this talented presenter.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Planning ahead: Book five is called NOT HER ALPHA, but it’s so far away from book two! I know that eventually Ryota is going to get his mate. Until then, he is aces at being the perpetual grump! I also know that he deserves that mate. He has a heart of gold that is hidden by his gruff exterior. There are already many hints in that direction and I am looking forward to the discoveries to be found there in him.

I couldn’t love this story more. I adored Not His Dragon, but this one really touched me. The writing and emotions were spot on. Nothing like having your father walk in on you while getting naked-cozy. LOL! I really look forward to reading more in this series.
I really enjoyed this book.
This second in the series is another fun romp through the paranormal world of New Port!
In this volume, we get to know Ken, the werewolf Beta, also the Alpha’s adopted son. Contrary to his mild, easy-going persona in the prior book in the series, he’s quite the businessman and enforcer in this tale.
Right off the bat as the story begins, he meets and recognizes his soulmate, Betty. The only problem is that, although part werewolf, she’s never been able to shift, and therefore has been declared human. And only werewolves can be soulmates. Unfortunately, this is only one of the many things going wrong in Betty’s life. (And we thought Angie had problems in the last episode!) Although it soon becomes her biggest worry, when other shifter clans declare that she must shift or die.
Luckily, help comes from a very unlikely source, by way of another surprising route. But alls well that ends well, at least for this happy couple.
I really enjoyed seeing members of the community whom we met in the first book reappear here. It makes me wonder who else is going to have their story told. I did not, however, like Beth in this volume! It’s basically all her fault that everyone finds out about Ken’s pronouncement, thus causing all the trouble for him and Betty in the first place.

4.5 Stars
I am absolutely loving this series! Another engaging story from Nicholas. I can’t get enough of her humor and wit. I enjoyed the emotional aspect in this one as well. It definitely had a bit of everything.
love this! its just as good as the first! the characters, plot, world, everything is full of sexy banter, humor and light hearted sweet moments with some drama thrown in to round it out.
This was a delightful and funny story. We are back in New Port, and this time it’s the wolf pack who has a big issue or do they?
Pack and family mean everything to Betty but when she had to leave hers due to not being whole wolf, she chose to live as a human.
Ryota didn’t want to lose his adopted son Ken but if he chose this woman as his forever mate things could get tricky.
And no one said love was going to be easy and in this story, you will see they struggle with many things to get to it. Do they finally have
a forever after? And just what has Dragon Eoin done this time?
Well grab your copy and find out. It’s wickedly good. I really hope we get more in this series.
OUTRAGEOUSLY CUTE !!!

My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****

I love, love, love Not His Werewolf, the second outrageously cute release in the Not This Series by Annie Nicholas! I became completely smitten with this delightful series after reading Not His Dragon, the first book of the series. I could hardly wait to get the second book in my hot little hands and Nicholas didn’t disappoint. I snickered, snorted, and sniffled through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. Not His Werewolf is a sexy, well crafted, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, captivating characters, heartbreaking angst, dreamy romance and of course, a heartwarming happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is snappy, hilarious, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. No one appreciates a well-written story better than me, but no matter how great the technical components and execution, without a cast of great characters, it’s all for naught. And that’s what I love about the work of Annie Nicholas, she delivers the whole package, time after time. Each time I open a Nicholas book, I’m always assured a satisfying read. And Nicholas didn’t disappoint with Not His Werewolf! I fell head over heels for werewolf Ken Birch, Beta of the New Port Pack and adopted son of Alpha Ryota. And werewolf/human hybrid Betty Newman, owner of Almost Home Animal Rescue, was an absolute hoot. If any of the aforementioned names sound familiar, they should since quite a few of the characters were introduced in the first book, Not His Dragon. These two characters were hilarious together but don’t let all the humor fool you. Ken and Betty were perfect together. Their sexual chemistry was smokin’ hot! No spoilers from me but I will say this…Beautiful sassy but brokenhearted human/werewolf hybrid exiled from her pack because she couldn’t shift-check! Handsome, dominant werewolf who had been searching for his soulmate for years-check! A still very grumpy alpha-check! Danger, heartache, and lots of angst-check! Humor, attraction, passion, steamy sex, and dreamy romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
I received this book for from the author and it does not affect my review. Betty cannot shift even though she is a shifter. She can feel in her bones that she is a shifter. Since she cannot shift, she is banned from her home wolf pack and has to go and live the in human world. Slhe starts a pet adoption home. She makes this her pack. She has few human friends and no shifter friends, just family. Ken is the beta of his wolf pack and his father is the alpha. He likes to run with the stray dogs he collects. While out on one of these runs is dogs, a dog catcher sees him and mistakes him for something else and shoots him with a couple of tranquilizers. She does not know what to do so she takes the wolf to her friend Betty. They put him in a dog cage until he wakes and can change back into human form. Ken awakes and finds himself looking into the eyes of his soulmate which is a rare thing in shifters. But nothing is easy with these two and the things that they have to do to be together or not. The story keeps you wrapped up waiting to see what will happen next.
