Magic is real. Shifters exist. Trixie Russell know this. Everyone does. But no one told her about the monster lurking in the basement of the dragon’s castle. Not until it was too late.Victor Petrov is ancient, and vampires his age should not lose control of their hunger. And yet, thanks to the dragon who chained him in a dungeon to protect the citizens of New Port, that’s exactly his problem. … problem. Then in walks a human female with cotton candy hair who smells like sunshine incarnate, her pulse a melody in his parched ears, and the fragile thread of his control snaps.
Like or not, Trixie is now tied to an ancient vampire forever, and he seems short a few marbles. She plans on making his eternity a misery until he reveals the mission. It turns out they have an enemy in common, and Trixie is totally on board with helping him escape so she could get her revenge. After that, she’s done. They’re over. She wouldn’t be his vampire.

I loved this! The entire series is fantastic and every time a new book comes out for it it makes it harder and harder to decide on a favorite! I loved Trixie and Viktor so much though. I think they may be my favorite couple so far! They represent the light and darkness inside everyone and show how both are useful. Trixie keeps Viktor in the light so his darkness becomes a thing to protect her light rather than something evil. I just love hos they compliment each other and that she believes in him even when he doesn’t believe in himself. Even big bad vampires need someone.
Not His Vampire (Not This Series, #3) Annie Nicholas – Trixie gets knocked down a dragon’s dungeon stairs and the vampire in his basement turns her to save her. Talk about a bad day! When Viktor the vampire decides to go investigate the dhamphir tattoo artist that messed with Trixie’s friend Betty, she begs to tag along. This one had a slower start, but a great ending! Happy Reading!
Not His Vampire is book 2 in Annie Nicholas’ Not This series, and you can read it standalone. You’ll enjoy it much more and spend less time catching up if you read the first one first, however. The main characters, Victor and Trixie, are introduced in the first book, along with all of the supporting cast. The book is written in third person omniscient style.
Much like I loved Angie, I also loved Trixie. They’re both rough and tumble with gumption to spare! Trixie grew up rough with her sister Ruby and knows how to make due. When she’s turned into a vampire to save her life, she rolls with it. It amused me to know end how much Victor loves her pink hair.
Victor is a particularly tortured, particularly old (and many jokes are made, to my great joy) vampire. His sins are many and his regrets even greater. He means well, and that’s made clear early on, he’s just conditioned. Turning Trixie to save her starts him down the path that will bring him peace, though he doesn’t know it and even fights it.
The two make a great couple and I love how the whole issue with one of his (yeah, he has multiple) nests is handled. Also interested to see how Jade and Chris turn out. I think he made headway in redeeming himself in this book. Also: more Eoin and cats. Who says no to that?
If you like your vampire romance with some darkness, a dash of light in the form of a pink haired whirlwind, dragons with issues, strong friendships that prove themselves, a dose of steam, and variety of paranormal creatures, this is a good book for you. Even better than the first, I dare say.
This is a great series and a lot of fun to read. I loved reading about the crazy girl Trixie and Victor. Add in a gargoyle and what a hoot!!! A must read!
I greatly enjoyed Viktor and Trixie’s tale.
Viktor is a vampire born centuries ago in a time that was vastly different from the present day world he and Trixie live in. Although he’s made mistakes that resulted in terrible consequences Viktor is neither a bad man or vampire. He’s actually an individual haunted by his past and in a way trapped by his own self loathing.
An unfortunate accident brings Trixie into his life and it’s the best thing to happen to him. The beautiful, sassy, pink haired spitfire of a woman with a heart of gold has Viktor feeling things he hasn’t felt in a very long time. Her love might just be the thing to rescue him, help him to heal and leave behind the past.
Their story had me laughing out loud and it warmed my heart.
I love all the characters form this series so far.
I can’t wait to dive into Nick and Ruby’s story next.
Fist read this and tell me you wouldn’t enjoy the heck out of this book.
“You can still drink coffee, right?” “I’d stake myself if I couldn’t” Betty laughed. “I’d stake you too, if you couldn’t. Some things are sacred. “
Super fun, exciting and loving. I enjoy this series so much. It is fast becoming my go to read when I am in the mood for a giggle.
Well written, great character build and could not put it down until I read it all.
NOT HIS VAMPIRE is the third book in the Not This series. Each will stand on their own, but I highly recommend reading them all and even better if in the order of release.
Trixie and Victor couldn’t be more unalike… and that is what makes them so perfect together. Her kind heart is just what he needs to make him want to be a better man, er, vampire.
The story is full of wit, charm, humor, and suspense. Fast paced, but never rushed, this made rush hour traffic my favorite time of the day!
I am absolutely in love with both of these vampires. In fact, I love all of Annie Nicholas’ characters. There isn’t a bad story in this series. She knows how to bring out all of the character’s many facets of life, their strengths and their faults, and make me love them all the more for them…. even the villains.
Narration: B.J. Harrison is the kind of narrator that other little narrators hope to be when they grow up. His voice is as rich as the darkest chocolate. His enunciation, pronunciation, articulation, and dramatization are everything you could ask for. He is to be especially applauded for maintaining that Russian-living-in-America accent. When I want sweet dreams, I’ll put this book on again as I drift away just to listen to that voice.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

This is a pleasant story that is both witty and endearing. It is an easy listening story that will keep you regaled with it’s appealing characters and entertaining plot. Viktor and Trixie are great characters and their slow burn romance is tender, humorous and extremely enjoyable. There are challenges, dangers, heartache and changes in this story. This is a stand-alone book, but the prior ones in the series add depth to the world with stories of some of the other characters that are encountered. The narrator of the audiobook does a great job telling the story, using different voices and personalities for the characters. It is a fun, entertaining, easy listening story that is definitely entertaining.
Review based on the Audible version.
The Not This series is one of my favorites. The storylines are a bit sweet with just enough bite (no pun intended) and wit to keep it real. Victor, a vampire with control issues, and Trixie, a sweetheart who’s a genuinely nice, just turned vamp, have wonderful chemistry and their banter had me laughing thru most of the story. B.J. Harrison does a marvelous job with the voices. All in all, a must read/listen from me. Enjoy!
A wickedly witty vampire story. I loved Victor an old vampire whose blood lust is uncontrollable at times. When he meets Trixie he is smitten and when he turns her because she is dying he claims her as his own. His flirting with Trixie is adorable and he slowly breaks down her walls. He has a problem with one of the vampire nests and their lives will be put in danger but with unexpected help they may just make it out alive, well sorta, since they are vampires after all. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.
** spoiler alert ** I found the description of this volume to be somewhat misleading, making it sound like Viktor loses control of himself and in a bloodlust attacks Trixie and accidentally makes her a vampire. In truth, he is trying to save her life (in a fashion) when she is mortally wounded.
Although he is a creature of extremely old age, and she is just a young woman, the pair share an immediate attraction and develop a very strong bond. The evolution of their relationship is fun to watch. And the fact that Viktor still has things that he can learn from Trixie is delightful.
Of course, there was much angst and drama to had and worked through, some personal demons to be dealt with and such. But this pair come out of everything stronger than they were, and they do in fact devise some unique ways of attacking their problems.
It was enjoyable to return to New Port and revisit some of the characters we’ve met in prior books. This tale was interesting in that it was a bit different from prior ones, being about paranormal creatures, but ones who are not shifters as most of the others in this world.
I liked this unusual take on vampires where they would often satisfy their hunger for blood from willing donors, sometimes even via bagged products.
It kind of ticks me off what a bum wrap Nick gets in the story. Okay, so, yes, technically he IS responsible for Trixie’s death, but it was totally an accident. He certainly didn’t mean to scare her and have her fall down the stairs. And, granted, he shouldn’t have been in Eoin & Angie’s castle to begin with, but Trixie really shouldn’t have been there either.
DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!

I love, love, love Not His Vampire, the third outrageously cute release in the Not This Series by Annie Nicholas! I became completely smitten after reading Not His Dragon, the first delightful story in the series and could hardly wait for the release of the second book, Not His Werewolf – which I also LOVED! I was hopelessly hooked and anxiously awaited the release of the third, Not His Vampire. I snickered, snorted, and sniffled through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. Not His Vampire is a sexy, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, endearing characters, heartbreaking angst, dreamy romance and of course, a heartwarming happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is snappy, hilarious, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. No one appreciates a well-written story better than me, but no matter how great the technical components and execution, without a cast of great characters, it’s all for naught. And that’s what I love about the work of Annie Nicholas, she delivers the whole package, time after time. Each time I open a Nicholas book, I’m always assured a satisfying read. And Nicholas didn’t disappoint with Not His Vampire! I fell head over heels for ancient vampire Viktor Petrov, master of the New Port and Riverbend covens, and pink-haired, kindhearted animal control officer Trixie Russell was an absolute delight. If any of the aforementioned names sound familiar, they should since quite a few of the characters were introduced in the first and second books of the series. Although the banter, bickering, and interaction between Viktor and Trixie are often laugh-out-loud funny, don’t let all the humor fool you. Viktor and Trixie were perfect together. Their sexual chemistry was smokin’ hot! No spoilers from me but I will say this… A handsome, ancient, and sometimes unstable Russian vampire with ‘control’ issues who thought himself incapable of feeling anything, certainly not love, until now-Check! Lovely, sweet, loyal, kindhearted, and resourceful human, New Port Animal Control officer with neon pink hair who’s had a very hard life, can hotwire a car, is extremely accident prone, has a knack for always finding trouble, and is still a virgin-Oh my! A poor gargoyle who meant well-Check! A tragic accident-Check! A beautiful, protective older sister-Check! A werewolf alpha out for revenge-check! Vampires, dhampires, dragons, werewolves, gargoyles, and black magic-Check! Danger, heartache, and lots of angst-check! Humor, attraction, passion, steamy sex, and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Was it perfect? No, but it was perfect for me! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
