Ruby is done with jerks, dead-end jobs, and eviction notices. Everyone else she knows is finding ways out of this crappy neighborhood, so why can’t she? Since opportunities refuse to fall from the sky, Ruby makes her own. To hell with the little voice in her heart whispering about love. She never met a man she wanted to keep…then she met a gargoyle. Men were boring after all.Nick was a con, a … all.
Nick was a con, a thief, and a rogue. He couldn’t keep a dime in his pocket even if it was glued. Then he met a ruby. Not one from the earth but one of flesh and blood. And ass. Let’s not forget the ass. Stealing her heart was now all he wanted.
He has a plan that could make both their dreams come true. It only involves an itsy-bitsy risk. All they must do is rob a witch.
Oh, and avoid the dragons.
Warning: Beware of despicable gargoyles with hearts of gold. They will sweep you off your feet when you’re not looking.

Not Her Gargoyle can be read as a stand alone. I read book one, Not His Dragon, and then skipped to four, Not Her Gargoyle. I enjoyed Not Her Gargoyle, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to pick it up or purchase. I only picked this up; because it was on sale at the time for 99cents. I’m always looking out for a book deal.
Not Her Gargoyle gives us some comedy, romance, and a bit of intrigue imbued with certain disasters. I’ve noticed that the heroines in the Not This series are all down on their luck in someway and the heroes are all well off and can swoop in and save the day, but here we get both a hero and heroine that are not so well off and both in need of help.
I liked that we don’t have the life bounding/mated pair plot-line. The thing that kept me going in this story was the banter; between Nick and Ruby. It was also nice to see them both try to change their lives from shady too the straight and narrow path. The relationship between Nick and his bothers was something that I enjoyed. Nick is also super cute and clueless.
The world the author has created is filled with a verity of supernatural characters. It’s got charms, cures, and dark magic grimoire. The secondary characters where fun. I liked the vampire, can’t remember his name, we meet that the Gargoyles befriend.
I will say I didn’t care for the non-explanation for Nick’s imprisonment which leads to his breakout in the beginning of the story and also at the end then him and Ruby leaving town. With this plot-line Elon, who we meet in Not His Dragon, is also portrayed as a dick throughout the story and I’m not sure why the author went this way.
Not Her Gargoyle was an ok read.

I feel like a broken record with all of my Annie reviews; perfect amount of humor, engaging characters, smoking-hot love scenes, and her books have some kind of magical power that suck me in from page one and then BAM! I’ve finished it.
It may also have something to do with the brilliant way Annie incorporates action/adventure into the romance. I can’t say enough how thoroughly I enjoyed this little quest!
I’ve read every book in this wonderful world set in New Port, and I don’t plan on stoppin’ now!
This is Nick and Ruby’s story . We find Nick chained to wall right off the start and from there this book just gets better !! Ruby is trying her best to figure out how she is going to pay her rent and not become homeless when Nick shows up . The trouble that Nick can find is kind of funny and the hardships he has to face just trying to become straight will have you rooting for him all the way !! I do have to say that it seems that poor Neil never has it easy either but he does an awesome job at picking that lock !! While out trying to find a job Nick sees an ad for a witch and decides why not check it out . And when she pats him ??!! LOL . Now he knows that he will have to go back to his old ways just to be able to get a job and stay with Ruby . Now I know that Ruby has done some things that some people might not be cool with but for me it just made her more real and life like . Now that being said dang I like her moxie !! And the way that Nick just seems so sweet and at the same time clumsy priceless !! And I did so love the way these brothers treat each other and then when Ruby goes with the brothers to save Nick what happens just blew me away !! Thanks for such a great story !!
We have met Ruby and Nick in other books in this series and they both are a riot. Nick is well a thief but a good man/err maybe man?
Ruby has worked hard all her life to provide for her and her sister and now that her sister has mated Ruby is left to wonder what life holds in store for her? Men have never wanted anything more than a fling, they are horrible beings or so she thinks.
Nick needs a place to stay and ends up at Ruby’s this couple is in for one heck of a ride.. Dragons, and more are after them can they come out of this intack and still together?
Grab your copy and laugh along.
No stone cold heart here
Nick, a recently immigrated gargoyle, met Ruby, a human, when he got into some trouble with the local dragon. As the story progresses the reader learns more about the trouble that both Nick and Ruby want to overcome from their respective pasts, gets an in depth look at life from the shady side, and finds out that hilarity ensues when you team up gargoyles, dragons, shifters and humans. A rollicking weekend escape read for all.
Annie Nicholas books are like candy, you know it’s going to be good. I like ALL her books but especially her ‘Not This” series. In this book we find Nick the troublemaker gargoyle chained to Eoin’s castle. He was chained because he startled a human, Trixie, who fell to her death. She was rescued by Viktor, an ancient vampire. Trixie is now a newly made vampire living with Viktor. Nick and his brothers have lived all over cheating, stealing and causing all sorts of shennigans. Nick and his brothers find a way to release Nick from his chains. He meets Trixie’s sexy older sister Ruby.
Nick wants to find a job and start over, living legitimately. He would love to impress Ruby and help her out of her desperate financial situation.
Nick meets Nikita a local powerful witch. She has a charm that will give Nick the aspect of a human. This would allow him to get a job, as not many would hire a gargoyle. The catch is the charm is very expensive. Ruby and Nick decide to steal from Nikita. It is never a good idea to steal from a witch.
Nick finds a job at a coffee shop working for a tiger shifter, Pete. Pete is interesting. I want to know a lot more about him.
The witch finds Ruby and Nick and confronts them about the charm. They must do a service for the witch or Nick will be trapped forever in his human form, never to fly again.
This book has a lot going on. We see many characters from previous books and we find new interesting ones along the way. We run into the Alpha wolf from Riverbend. There is a surprise twist in the end. Loved this book. I want to visit quirky New Port and meet all these great characters. Ryota is one book I am so looking forward to.
Not Her Gargoyle by Annie Nicholas – Ruby has had a rough life, and she is used to living on the edge of the law to survive. When Nick the Gargoyle comes barreling into her life, the two of them are double trouble. If they can keep from getting into more trouble than they can handle, they might just realize that they are perfect for one another! Happy Reading!
NOT HER GARGOYLE is the fifth book in the Not This series. Though each will stand alone and I have read them out of order, I recommend reading them all and in the order of release for maximum enjoyment. Reading Not Her Gargoyle has me finally caught up with the series and I’ll now be reading them as they release.
What I love most about this story is that not everyone has to be rich to fall in love. Two people down on their luck and struggling to get by are made better by finding one another.
The wit, the sarcasm, the fun, the love, the families, and the over-the-top dragon that is Eion all made for a fantastic and enjoyable read (listen) that had the headphones on while I worked instead of just during my drive.
Narration: B.J. Harrison is the voice of the NOT THIS series; I can’t imagine anyone else bringing our favorite characters to life as he does.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Nick and Ruby’s story is sweet.
An unfortunate accident puts Nick on the Dragon’s bad list. Now he’s on the run trying to stay off their radar but chance has his path crossing with the beautiful redhead that’s plagued his dreams. Since the moment Nick laid eyes on Ruby he’s known she was special. He’d do anything to be her gargoyle even risk getting hexed by a witch. Their journey is full of surprises, action and humorous moments.
I loved the unconditional love between the two and the bond Nick and his brothers have.
The narrator did a great job.
I look forward to the next book.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
Title: Not Her Gargoyle
Series: Not This
Author: Annie Nicholas
Designation: Book 5, Full-Length, *Can Be Read As Standalone, Paranormal Romance, NO Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
*Although the author gives ample backstory, this reviewer recommends reading the books of the series sequentially for maximum enjoyment and to avoid possible spoilers.
I love, love, love Not Her Gargoyle, the fifth outrageously cute release in the Not This Series by Annie Nicholas! I became completely smitten after reading Not His Dragon, the first delightful story in the series and became hopelessly hooked. I now await each new release with bated breath and once again, Annie Nicholas didn’t disappoint! I snickered, snorted, giggled, and sniffled through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained. Not Her Gargoyle is a sexy, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, full-length, standalone paranormal tale filled to the brim with side-splitting humor, endearing characters, heartbreaking angst, dreamy romance and of course, a heartwarming happy ending. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with his and her perspectives. The dialogue is snappy, hilarious, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. No one appreciates a well-written story better than me, but no matter how great the technical components and execution, without a cast of great characters, it’s all for naught. And that’s what I love about the work of Annie Nicholas, she delivers the whole package, time after time. Each time I open a Nicholas book, I’m always assured a satisfying read, and Not Her Gargoyle was no exception. If you’ve been following the series, remember Trixie’s protective older sister, Ruby, and the bungling gargoyle thief, Nick, from Book 3 (Not Her Vampire)? Well, they’re back! Plus Nick’s three brothers are in town so you can only imagine what kind of trouble they’re up to. I felt so sorry for Nick and Ruby. Nick had been imprisoned and chained to the castle by Eoin for attempting to steal from him and causing Trixie’s accident. Unlike shifters, Nick had only his gargoyle form. He could never pass as a human, but he really wanted to, so he could get a job and help beautiful Ruby. And poor Ruby…she was happy for her newly mated younger sister Trixie, really she was, but she missed her terribly. She was so lonely. All she ever wanted was to find a man who would love her and never abandon her. But once Nick and Ruby found each other, it was kismet – and shenanigan central! lol… And their sexual chemistry was smokin’ hot! These two sweet, lonely free spirits were so perfect for each other. Although the banter, bickering, and interaction between Nick and Ruby are often laugh-out-loud funny, don’t let all the humor fool you. Nick and Ruby had a difficult journey to find their happy ending.
No spoilers from me but I will say this… A handsome, sweet, lonely gargoyle who means well yet always finds himself in deep trouble-check! A beautiful lonely human woman who can’t hold onto a job and longs for a happy ending of her own-check! ! A caper gone very wrong-Check! A vengeful witch who wants her pound of flesh-check! A curse that could cost Nick his wings and Ruby her happy ending-check! Vampires, dhampires, dragons, werewolves, gargoyles, and black magic-Check! Danger, heartache, and lots of angst-check! Humor, attraction, passion, steamy sex, and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
I could see this story coming from the first time that Nick and Ruby met in the prior volume of the series! I’m so happy that they got their own book!
I was pretty ticked off at how Ruby’s friends and family all pretty much just abandon her once their meet their mates. Especially her sister! They were struggling to make ends meet when the two of them were sharing an apartment; why in the world would Trixie think that Ruby was doing okay on her own?
I was also quite unhappy with how badly everyone treated Nick. Even after he fell in love with Ruby and tried to turn his life around being a good guy in every way he knew how. That they had to flee the city in the end was especially not cool.
The intrigue of this tale is quite wrapped up in some of the other stories and players in the series, and it appears that there will probably be more entanglement there. Things are certainly getting interesting in this series!
Loved it.
Excellent Storyline
Another excellent story to add to the series!! This is Rubys story. I it! I am looking forward to the next in the series.
