Not Fade Away by Donna S Frelick is the fourth book in her Interstellar Rescue series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
Imagine going to work one day as normal. And then imagine having everything you thought you knew called into question. That is exactly what happens to Charlie when she turns up to care for her elderly, dementia ridden patient. His ramblings cannot be explained away by his diagnosis. And then there is his son.
Rage knows his father has been targeted by other worldly Assassins and so he knows he has to hide him the best he can. And if that means dealing with his nurse then so be it.
Having not read the rest of the series I was u sure at first as to whether or not I would enjoy this book. However my concern was unfounded. The writing draws you straight in to the story. Rafe and Charlie are so entertaining to read about that you can’t help but be sucked into their story. As a new author for me I am glad that I have discovered her work now. I will be going back to read the rest of the series straight away.
This was my first book from this author or in this series. It stands well on its own but like with most series it would serve the reader most benefit with character and plot development to read the series in order. This book was a pleasure to read. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Not Fade Away by Donna S. Frelick
Four Stars
I don’t know how people think of different worlds. To build a whole world and race into existence is amazing. Rafe is dealing with a lot and his father’s dementia isn’t helping. He wants to go home and that home happens to be far away on planet Earth. I enjoyed the story from Rafe’s POV. Charlie was an interesting character. She brought a lot of drama and entertainment to Rafe’s life. There is a lot of action and death in this story but it adds to the story. Its so funny when they talk around others because they don’t realize there is more outside of their world.
Not Fade Away is book 4 in the Interstellar Rescue Series from author Donna S Frelick. This is my first read from this author which means these books can all read as stand-alone, but after finishing this read, I know I will definitely be going back and reading the previous books in the series. This is a brilliant Syfy romance read and I can’t wait to delve deeper into this world!
This book follows the journey of Rafe and Charlie. Two people – kind of from different worlds that come together for one person and continue to make an impact on each other’s lives. Rafe is there looking after his ill father and protecting him from a group of people hunting him. Charlie is a caring, compassionate women who is there to take the added strain and pressure from Rafe in looking after Del (Rafe Father) with her trusty partner Happy!
These two have a connection from the start, but it’s one neither of them want to explore and continually to fight against it due to secrets, unknown feeling. But could either of them really know the other properly? Or would their secrets be putting them in danger? But through all the ups and downs you can’t help but route for Rafe and Charlie to get their own HEA.
This read has many twists and turns that have you on the edge of your seat wondering what could happen next. With an incredible plot, we get a range of romance, action, danger, suspense and mystery the more you read it and it held you captivated until the end.
This book to me is also mentally visual due to storyline and descriptions that are given, it really helps put an image in my mind while reading it that makes it that more interesting. I love the flashbacks we get in this read also, as it gives us a better understanding of why the storyline has gotten to where it has and also the journey that our characters have made previously. I liked that I felt I was learning alongside the characters, it made the story that more interesting.
Let’s not forget the secondary characters in this read who also help tell this story and bring it, it’s extra depth.
This is an incredible Syfy read that you can’t help not putting down till the end! It’s fast-paced, action-packed and romantic and one not to be missed!
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series by Donna Frelick is the fourth book in her Intersellar Rescue Series. I was pulled into the novel and I just knew it was going to be one that I would have to finish before putting the book down. Donna Frelick engages the reader with her writing ability for science fiction and litlle bit of romance. I loved the main characters of Charlie with Happy her therapy dog and Rafe. Charlie is a care giver for Rafe’s father. She did not know what she was getting herself into and is trying to figure out what is happening to Rafe and his father. Just wait until you see the rest of this story because the story builds as you read it.

I really enjoyed this book!! I’m not usually a science fiction fan but together with the romantic element I was completely hooked! This is the first book that I have read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last – I would love to read the other books in the series too. It was full of action, twists and turns, the storyline was great, the characters were likeable – I just thought overall it was a really great read. I really liked the engaging writing style of the author and especially her world building. She had very detailed descriptions of the setting for the story which was great for me as a reader. The characters were well thought out and developed, I found them to be really relatable too which I have got to be honest I was surprised considering the genre so that was really great.
Overall a really enjoyable read, science fiction lovers who like a little romance and mystery in their stories will not be disappointed with this story! I look forward to more from Ms Frelick in the future.
True Confession: I searched the internet to see if Massey, North Carolina was real and was disappointed that it is not.
NOT FADE AWAY is book 4 in The Interstellar Rescue Series and the first book I read. It can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.
This is multi-layered story and one of the layers broke my heart, while another made me smile, and still another had me trying to figure out the suspense. This a wonder sci-fi/ romance / suspense that moved very quickly.
There are a lot of secondary characters, some of whom I’m sure are from the first three stories, and each plays an important role in the story. It was a well plotted, thought out story that I absolutely recommend.
*****
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. This is a science fiction book that pulled me in right from the beginning. This is a fast reading story that kept me engaged until the end. I enjoyed the characters as they were connectable and relateable. Charlie and her dog, Happy, take a job that may turn out to be more of a mystery then she realizes. The key to everything just maybe the memories that are disappearing. Lots of twists and turns. I highly suggest reading this book.
Not Fade Away by Donna Frelick was a fast pace epic science fiction that grips you from the deist page, and holds you hostage until the last page.
This was my first book by Donna Frelick, and though this is the fourth book in this series, it felt more like reading a stand a lone. I will be going back and reading the other books, because if they’re anything like this crazy, amazing read then I don’t want to miss out on anything.
This book has everything I love about reading sic-fy. The world building is detailed, rich, full and pulls you in. The characters are engaging, well rounded and realistic. There is so much good in this book that I can’t find all the right worlds to convey what I’m feeling.
So please take my super high recommendation that you will not only love this epic original space ride, but want to be apart the adventure… forever
Happy Reading

Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4
By: Donna S. Frelick
5 out of 5 stars
The story Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick is a science fiction/romance book. It is a story that I loved reading. It has action, danger, and romance. I find this to be a perfect combination. I love the characters of Rafe Gordon and Charlie McIntyre. From the very beginning they have an attraction to each other. Charlie is a woman who take care of others and is very compassionate. She has had a bad experience in love and when she starts to have feelings for Rafe her first instinct is to push him away. The son of her client is off-limits. Rafe has brought his father, Del, to Earth as there is a threat to his life. He did not expect to fall for Charlie, his father’s caretaker. He has to keep alert as his father’s life depends on keeping hidden and no one finding out who they are. Charlie however has many questions and begins to suspect there is more to father and son that they are letting on. Will Charlie find out who Del and Rafe really are and why they have settled in Masey, North Carolina? Will those who threaten Del’s life find out where he is? Will Rafe and Charlie find happiness together? This is a story that more than once has me wondering what was going to happen next and how it would end. It is a book that switches from the present day to the past. I was rooting for Charlie and Rafe to find an HEA. There are also many other characters that I enjoyed reading about in this story. Charlie has a therapy dog, Happy. I love when an author not only adds animals into the story but they play a part in it. This is the fourth book in a series. Even though I had not read the other books in the series I found this one easy to follow. I found the story well-written and has wonderful characters. I now want to go back and read the first three.
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4
by Donna S. Frelick
My first book by Donna Frelick and I have to say I did enjoy it. Like with all series its best to start at the beginning for the back ground history on characters but on saying that this book is easily read as a standalone. Its so enjoyable to read a book when the author has a wonderful way of telling a story and this is what I found with this book. Not Fade Away is book four in the Interstellar Rescue series and I wish I had started at the beginning. This book is action packed, of course romance and some danger to it. This instalment centred around Rafe who is a rescue agent and also yet to live on earth. When Rafe meets Charlie there is an undeniable attraction for each other. But Rafe is her clients son and she sees this as a no go area and she feels that they should not act upon their feelings, Rafe in his mind tells himself he should keep on the ball with his fathers care. Even though Rafe’s father has dementia his life is still in danger so Rafe makes his first visit to earth bringing his father with him in order to try and protect him. Will Del be safe now he is on earth? Will Rafe and Charlie be able to ignore the mutual attraction to each other.
Another epic Sci-fi adventure from Donna S. Frelick! Not Fade Away is Book 4 in the Interstellar Rescue Series. Now like always, I suggest you read the previous books first. However, you don’t need to. You can read this as a standalone. This book follows Rafe Gordon, is a Rescue Agent and who is human but has never lived on earth. His father who is a war hero and is suffering from Dementia wants to go home to earth and coincidentally is being targeted by some unknown reason. So what does his loving son do? That’s right! He takes him to Masey, North Carolina, a little map dot in the country. There Rafe meets Charlotte “Charlie” McIntyre. Charlie is a home caregiver and also has a background in Psychology. Talk about love at first sight! Whew! These two definitely have it. Charlie seems to break through all of Rafe’s walls. The unfortunate situation is that Charlie doesn’t know they are from Outer Space and she doesn’t know that they are in danger. This story has several twists and turns. All the characters are absolutely wonderful. This was definitely a quick and easy read, especially for me who really isn’t into science fiction much. However, I do have to say that I quite enjoyed this book and was very impressed by it. I think I might even have to read the first four books! There is no Cliffhanger but I won’t say whether or not it’s a HEA or not! You will have to read it to find out!
a great read about home. Rafe has been a Rescue officer across the galaxy for as long as he can remember. But when an assassin targets his father Del and his old friends, Rafe’s world is turned upside down. returning to Earth, Rafe sets out to look after his father while protecting him from dangers from across the universe. when nurse Charlie comes into his life to help care for his father, Rafe tries new experiences and feelings he has never had before. can he stay with her without revealing his true identity or will it be discovered and can Rafe protect his father before it is too late?
a great read. well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. well developed characters like Rafe trying to protect his father while trying to carry on with life and his job or Charlie caring nature while standing up for herself. the sense of Del mental difference from his soldier nature was emotive and beautifully done. a great cast of supporting friends like Louise or Rayla.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in particular across the galaxy with the stars in a sense of magic and wonder. or the description of planets like T7 or IsRa which were so different but beautiful. or even the description of Earth and its natural wonders from afar full of visual detail and gentle beauty like the mountains and the trees.
a brilliant example of science fiction with a wide variety of different aliens with different abilities, languages and technology which were written perfectly. the science fiction of spaceships and adventure was combined with realism of little shops and restuarants perfectly. this mixed with mystery thriller was combined to perfection to create a captivating read as you carry on reading. the use of memories for Del worked well to unravel the mysteries of the past and didn’t disturb the narrative of the present. Overall, a wonderful read and I would give it five stars.
Donna S. Frelick has done it again with her fourth book in the Interstellar Rescue Series; Not Fade Away. I’m going to have to say that this book was my favorite out of the series, and although it is technically the last book, it can defiantly be read as a stand-alone. Donna has such an elegant way of writing character descriptions and bringing a great story plot to life. Her writing in this book was flawless as usual and I felt as if I really connected to the characters that she portrays so well in this story.
Rafe Gordon is and has always been an agent with Rescue. Although he is human, he grew up on a different planet and was raised by his parents, who were both agents of rescue. Rafe is very focused on his job and cares more about his work then finding the love of a woman for more than one night. His father, Del, has been diagnosed with a form of dementia that has taken over much of his brain and personality. Despite being debilitated with this disease he becomes the target of alien assassins and they are forced to relocate to a safer place. Rescue figures the safest place for Del and Rafe to hide for a while is on Earth were Del was born, Masey, North Carolina. After being transported to their new home on the mountains, Del is assigned a home health nurse.
Charlie McIntyre is the home health nurse assigned to Dels case. After her very first visit with her therapy dog, Happy in tow, she realizes there is something entirely different about this particular case. Del frequently has spells of occurrences that are inconsistent with his form of dementia diagnosis. These episodes are really otherworldly and the more time she spends around Del and his dangerously attractive son the more she begins to question not only his diagnosis but also the “story” of who they are. Even if Rafe cares for her, more than he tries to let on, he keeps her at a safe distance. Charlie could never know the secrets that he and Del are keeping. Charlie works at breaking down the barrier of secrets as the assassin closes in. Secrets are exposed as the truth behind the questions of why Del was set as a target in the first place, are revealed. What they are up against is not just an assassin who is on their tails but also a machine that is made to kill and conquer all other planets in orbit.
