I give Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick, 4 stars.
Rafe’s father, although a well-know military man, has been in failing health. Now it seems like there is someone out to kill him. So they decide to hide him on Earth. That where he is from and he has been asking to go there for a while now. They end up in a cabin in a small town in North America. It is unlike anything Rafe has experienced before, but it is quite peaceful. He cannot manage his father alone though so they decide to hire a visiting nurse. The woman who shows up is not what the expected. Claire and her dog come in to provide aid to his father. But Rafe cannot stop thinking about her. His father is in danger though, he does not have time for a love interest. Plus he cannot divulge where the really are from. Humans don’t know about how much is really out there. But how can he say no to this woman?
This is a great addition to the series. The main characters are so different from previous couples in the series, which adds another layer to a great story. There is so much going on, action, suspense, romance — you feel so much for these people. Oh and Happy is a wonderful addition!
This is a well written science fiction romance that weaves a wonderful world you will fall into and not stop reading until the book is done.
It’s difficult to say what I like best about this book. It resonated with me because our hero, Rafe, in this story is dealing with a real life situation as best he can. It’s a situation that I myself am experiencing at this time . It’s difficult emotionally to care for an aging parent and it was quite refreshing to see this addressed in a good science fiction story. I could identify with him and it made the story comforting and made my own burden seem somewhat lighter. In Not Fade Away, once again Donna S. Frelick gives us a strong hero and heroine. Charlie is very confident and sure of herself. She, like all good caregivers, knows there’s more than one patient. It was such a good story I’m pretty sure I will be reading it again.
Not Fade Away is an exciting science fiction book by Donna S. Frelick, the fourth in her Interstellar Rescue Series. It focuses on the characters of Del, a retired hero whose limited mobility and dementia means he needs to be cared for by his son, Rescue agent Rafe, and Charlie, a home care nurse in the American town Del and Rafe are hiding in. On the periphery are characters who have been the focus of earlier books, including Gabriel, Lana, Rayna and Sam.
I like how the Interstellar Rescue Series juxtaposes alien worlds and spaceships with normal, everyday Earth. The focus on dementia in this book is particularly poignant and works well within the plot. We get glimpses into Del’s past in the form of flashbacks that leave him disoriented and saying things that Charlie can’t quite make sense of.
Charlie has a dog, Happy, who is a wonderful addition to the cast! Happy and Del develop a very special relationship and Happy comes into his own warning Charlie and Rafe when they are in danger. Space, romance AND a dog – what more could you ask for?
I’ve been enjoying this series so far. The stories kind of work independently but it’s worth starting with the first book, Unchained Memory, to get more of the world-building and start meeting the characters. For me, this is a five star read which I would recommend to sci fi fans who enjoy stories with alien abductions and other interactions between the terrestrial and extraterrestrial.
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4
by Donna S. Frelick
I loved this book just as much as the other three in this series. This book as well as the others in this series can be read as a standalone without feeling lost. I suggest that you read all of them because they are great reads and you do get introduced to some characters that are in other books. This story is full of action, adventure, sci fi, romance, and danger. The author does a wonderful job blending all these aspects of the story so well. There are wonderful characters in this book and Charlie and Rafe had chemistry from the start. I read this book in one sitting because it intrigued me so much and I needed to know what happens. You must read to find out where this adventure will take you. I highly recommend this book.
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
This is the 4th book in the Interstellar Rescue Series. Again, and again the books in this series keep getting better and better to me. This story is full of romance, action, suspense and danger, which all nicely fit together to make for a wonderful book.
Charlie is a compassionate and loving woman with a rough history in the love department. She is assigned to a man called Del with dementia, when she meets his son Rafe. She falls in love at first sight but will continuously push him away.
Rafe is a Interstellar Rescue agent and he brings his father to earth to get care as, they are being targeted by assassins. Rafe also falls in love with Charlie at first sight but, wants to stay away in order to protect their secrets. Charlie starts digging a little too deep into their lives and soon discovers what they have been hiding. When danger reaches them it is up to Rafe to protect his father and the woman he loves.
I am fully invested at this point with this series. Each book sucks me into the story every time. Each book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend the full series.
Not Fade Away (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4) by Donna S. Frelick
5-Star
Not Fade Away (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4) by Donna S. Frelick was an excellent 5-star read. It is a wonderful addition to this series. I loved the various characters including Rafe, Charlie, Del, and Happy. The author did very well with their development and backstory. It was easy to fall in love with them. There were several other characters carried over from previous novels that I was very excited to see in this book as well.
The storyline was full of action and Romance. It was easy to follow and get lost in. The author was very organized when alternating between past occurrences and present. I appreciated how the sections had a break before each. This story had an exciting climax and the author pulls everything together well at the end of her story. I highly recommend this book and the series itself.
Not Fade Away by Donna Frelick was another out of this world read. I would give this hook a five out of five stars. I love Donna’s world and as the fourth book in the series it does a great job keeping me pulled in. Charlie was a great character to read, a good balance of caring and strength. Rafe was an interesting read he did not know what was going on but I loved the humor he brought to the story.
This is book 4 in the Intersteller Rescue series. This follows the story of Rafe Gordon who has been a rescue agent all his life. Rafe is caring for his father whos age is diminishing his memory. When an attack kills one of his father’s friends Rafe needs to find a way of protecting his father. The only option available to them was to return to earth.
On arriving Rafe hires a nurse by the name of Charlie to help care for his father but when Del starts to recount things that have happened while they lived in space she has questions about her mystery patient.
While Charlie tries to break down Rafe’s walls to get answers the alien enemies after his father circle closer.
Can Rafe protect his father and have a relationship with Charlie without revealing his true identity or will it be one secret too many.
I loved this story and i have loved the series. The mix of romance and sci fi means there is something for everyone and leaves you gripped from the first page
This is the first book by Donna Frelick that I have read, but this is not the first book in the Interstellar Rescue Series, this is in fact book four. You can read this book as a stand-alone but I can honestly say I will be going back to read the first three as I really enjoyed this one. With all series, it’s best to start at the beginning as you get a background history on the characters, but in saying that you can just pick this story up and start reading and already have an understanding of the characters.
I wish I had started at the beginning of this series as this book is action-packed, with romance and some danger. This installment is centred around Rafe who is a rescue agent, who is also yet to live on earth. When Rafe meets Charlie who is a homecare nurse there is an undeniable attraction for one another. But Rafe is her client’s son and she sees that as a no-go area, she feels that they should not act upon their feelings, Rafe in his mind tells himself he should keep on the ball with his fathers care. Even though Rafe’s father has dementia his life is still in danger so Rafe makes his first visit to earth by bringing his father with him in order to try and protect him. Will Del be safe now he is on earth? Will Rafe and Charlie be able to ignore the mutual attraction to each other.
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S.Frelick is the fourth book in the Interstellar Rescue series..This is my first book by this author and I truly enjoyed it.i plan to go back and read the first three books as well. This story is not my usual go to genre but it was a great story. I’d recommend
4 Stars
Not Fade Away is the fourth book in the Interstellar Rescue Series by Donna S. Frelick. Ms. Frelick is a new-to-me author and I found this book was a great introduction to her style and has given me some new books to add to my TBR. Even though this is the fourth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing part of the story. There are other recurring characters in this story who really intrigued me, and I definitely want to go back and read the other three books and catch up on their stories, too. This is a bit of a racy space adventure- so it’s a science fiction full of aliens, assassins, danger, action, adventure, mystery, secrets, intrigue, and a hot romance.
Rafe Gordon is a Rescue Agent and soldier who has been fighting Alien Slavers since he was old enough to carry a weapon. His father is a bit of a legend among the Interstellar Rescue, but is now a shell of the man he once was, now confined to a wheelchair, while dementia ravages his mind. Rafe is honouring his father’s wishes by bringing him ‘home’ to earth- a place he hasn’t seen in 60 years. But soon find they have been targeted by an assassin, who is hunting them through the galaxy.
Charlie McIntyre is a Home Health Therapist and registered Nurse who works with dementia patients and their families. Her world is turned upside down when a new client moves to town. There is something different about the old man and his sexy son- and she has a strange feeling about them and the case. She’s not interested in any kind of romantic relationship because she had a bad past experience that still haunts her, plus she doesn’t get involved with clients. But the chemistry that bubbles between Rafe and her, is becoming harder to resist. What happens when they give in to their desire? When secrets are exposed, and danger comes calling, will their blossoming romance be strong enough to survive? Can Rafe keep them all safe?
This was a great story, even though I initially had trouble ‘getting into’ it. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something about the flow of the story was a little off for me and I struggled with it for about a quarter of the book. Then things change, the flow got much better- and I was hooked. The story weaves from past to present and back again many times through out the story- unravelling a lot of the backstory and ‘motive’ for the situation they find themselves in. Ms. Frelick cleverly wove the past and present together into a smooth and intriguing read.
The book has a lot of characters to keep track of, and the story is told from multiple POV’s- giving it a lot of added information and interest. Ms. Frelick orchestrates all the characters and perspectives very well and blends them into the story without any kind of confusion.
There is definitely more to this story than first meets the eye, and I will certainly be reading more of Ms. Frelicks work, for sure.
Thank you, Ms. Frelick!
Not Fade Away by Donna S Frelick is the fourth book in her Interstellar Rescue series and the first book I have read by this writer and I have to say I fell in love with her style of writing and I am so shaft that all the books in the series are available on KU so you know what I will be reading next!
Not Fade Away is the journey of the rescue agent Rafe Gordon and home care nurse Charlie McIntyre. They are two people from two different worlds – Rafe has never lived on Earth and Charlie is from North Carolina … Charlie is a home care nurse that Rafe has hired to take care of his father Del who he has hidden away on Earth from a group of assassins. The story is filled with twists and turns, the chemistry between the two keeps growing and do not forget about the danger! I loved the science fiction side of the story – the description of the galaxy and the crazy planets and even the description of Earth! The amazing world that the writer has created, and remember, it is the fourth story in this mind blowing universe and I cannot wait to go back and start from the beginning!
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick was a book I wasn’t sure I would like since it is a sci-fi romance but I’m happy to say that this book surprised me. This book follows a Rescue agent named Rafe who, though human, has never been to Earth and Charlie, a woman that begins the care of Rafe’s father. The sparks fly between these two from the get go and it was fun watching these two make their way to each other. This was an action packed read that kept me on my toes and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The plot was well thought out and the details helped me to really get a picture of the world these people come from. This is definitely a five out of five star read.
Donna S. Frelick’s Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 is a science fiction romance. I have not previously read any of the other books in the series, so may have missed some back story on certain characters. Despite this, I found that I was able to delve into this story and learn more as I progressed through. The author’s writing style kept me engaged and the story felt as if it quickly went by during the time I spent reading. The characters flowed within the book and didn’t feel out of place. I really enjoyed how this story and the characters pulled me in and had me hoping for this or that to occur throughout the book.
This book is a science fiction, and fits well in the romance or suspense/mystery/action category. This is Book 4 in the series and seeing as I haven’t read the previous 3 and followed along easily, it works well as a standalone. The author uses a very creative technique when using Del’s permanant delusional state of mind to throw in flashbacks of the past while staying in the present. I love Charlie and the role she plays as a caregiver. I completely understand based on how she is with Del, Rafe’s struggle to maintain an employee employer relationship, among all the other things that Rafe and Charlie manifests in their heads. I think my absolute favorite character is Happy. Who doesn’t love a well trained, loving dog? I’m not usually a fan of science fiction, however I enjoyed this story very much. I found very few errors in spelling and grammar, and it was easy to follow. 4 out of 5 stars!
Wasn’t sure about this book by reading the title but it definitely surprised me! I like the story line to this book. I did not read other books in this series but I’m sure they were just as good. I like the way the characters interact together. It was great seeing the difference in personality. This book had a bit of an emotional side to me. The description is very helpful. Over all this book was a good read, I couldn’t put the book down. I may have to go back and read the other books because it was that good!
Not Fade Away: Interstellar Rescue Series Book 4 by Donna S. Frelick is a science fiction romance story. I am not much of a sci fi reader but I enjoyed this one. There is action and danger, romance and other worlds and beings. This is the fourth book in a series and it was easy to follow and the story is well written. I found it enjoyable as we got to know and love the wonderful and engaging characters. The unique plots and humour kept me turning the pages and hanging on to every word. I now have to go back and read the other books in this series.
I have not read Donna S. Frelick’s work or the other books in this series when I picked this one up. I was pulled in with the cover and the blurb and decided to give it a go. I am happy that I did. I was looking for something different from my usual read this summer and this was the perfect book for that. I enjoyed the way that I was drawn into the novel from the get go and never had a dull moment. The characters were well developed, so much so that I was able to read this one with ease even though I hadn’t read the others. I will go back now that I have enjoyed this and read the previous ones though.
Rafe Gordon and Charlie McIntyre are the main two characters in this novel. From the get go the romantic tension between the two was very evident. But Charlie has had a bad run in with love in the past. Will she be able to overcome that and give this new love a chance? Or will she push him away before they even get a chance? Rafe needs to keep his and his father’s true identities a secret. They have made their home in North Carolina for the sake of his father’s health. Will the relationship between Rafe and Charlie get them into trouble? Can he find a way to love Charlie and still keep his dad safe?
I am hoping to see some of the other characters that were in this novel in the other books. I loved them as well and would like to know more about their stories. Overall this was a nice sci-fi romance read, quick and light.
Not Fade Away was a great 5 star read. This is book 4 in the Interstellar Rescue Series. This can be read as a stand alone. You get action, romance, danger, humor and so much more.
Rafe’s father is in danger, so he takes him home to earth to hide. Arrangements have been made for Rafe’s father to have a caretaker. This is Rafe’s first trip to earth and he didn’t prepare himself before arriving, It was fun reading about his first experience with a dog. I had several LOL moments.
Charlie is a caretaker with her own business, she is great with her patients and truly cares about them. She also has a therapy dog named Happy. When she meets Rafe there is something about him that draws her in. However being hurt in the past she has her guard up, he is also a client’s son and that’s a no no.
As the story moves forward Charlie starts to question certain things. Rafe continues to worry about keeping his father safe and struggles with his attraction to Charlie. There are so many great characters in this story. There are several twists and turns. Will Rafe be able to keep his father safe? Will Charlie and Rafe get a HEA?
This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. She pulled me right in with her writing.
