They soon find out that they are from the same town of Marietta. Loved this Christmas romance of slow building love. Visiting Marietta is always special at Christmas,I so wish it was a real town. Quinn is my new love, loved how he would not give up on Charity, even when she self doubted herself. I highly recommend this heartfelt Christmas romance.
Great Christmas book, enjoyed the story!
Very sweet book about Charity, who has been hurt in life and love and is afraid of opening herself up to more, and Quinn, who is surprised to find himself wanting more, as long as it’s with the right person. I enjoyed reading this, although I wish Charity had a bit more spine throughout. Still fun and engaging though!
Great Christmas story remind me of Hallmark stories. Love Christmas stories.
Christmas books…I love them. Jane Porter’s heartwarming, feel-good holiday novel, Not Christmas Without You, warms the heart. I highly recommend this wonderful story.
This story warmed my heart and was perfect reading for the Christmas season. I found the characters to be both likable and relateable. I think there has always been a time in most people’s lives that we have either wanted to be someone else or change our life in a different direction, and that is how this story opens. Both characters have family history that follows them, and it was great to see how they each dealt with that.
I recommend this contemporary Christmas Romance, that can be read any time of the year.
Always love Jane Porter’s books. She’s on my auto-buy list and this lovely Christmas story is no exception. Loved this feel good story!
Charity Wright is looking to get away for a few days after an unpleasant breakup. Her friend Tricia has asked her to go check out a small ski resort in Wyoming called Little Teton. All expenses paid, a way to relax and forget about her ex, why not? All she has to do is pretend to be Tricia for a few days. Easy enough!
Quinn Douglas is heading over to Little Teton to check out the resort as a favor to a friend as well as a possible investment. When Quinn runs into Charity, aka Tricia, at the resort, he sees her as someone he would like to get to know. She is easy to talk to and he feels right at home with her. But will a few days of fun blossom into something more?
I was looking for lovely Christmas romance and I found it in this book! Jane has a way of creating characters that we can fall in love with and make it feel as if we are part of their family. Not Christmas Without You is a wonderful love story about two people finally finding their happy ever after. I highly recommend it!
It’s not Christmas without Jane Porter and a trip to the small town of Marietta, Montana. Porter has a knack for writing stories with characters and plots that touch your heart and this one is no exception. Charity and Quinn are characters that are so fundamentally human; you can’t help but fall in love with them. They are two people with so much love to give and so much in their past that they have had to overcome, they both deserve to find “their” person and happiness in their lives.
This book is connected to many others Porter has written set in Marietta, and it feels like coming home and visiting family and friends for the holiday. It can stand alone, but if you have the chance, read them all. You won’t be disappointed.
Grab some hot chocolate and a warm blanket, find a cozy spot to curl up, and settle in. This novel is a perfect read to get you into the holiday spirit!

When Charity and Quinn meet, they’re using assumed names for business. Immediately attracted, their aliases allow them to share their true selves knowing they’ll never see each after the resort trip. Quick friends, spending time together leads to feelings and a passionate kiss.
Quinn goes after Charity and they learn each other’s true identity. Working together to help friends and on a Christmas fundraiser, their hearts know it’s love. Charity must overcome self-doubt and learn to trust while Quinn has decisions to make in order for Charity to know he’s in it for the long haul. Can these two bridge the distance needed in time for Christmas and find a life together after a whirlwind romance?
A charming and sweet Christmas romance I highly recommend!
This is a warm & classic romance and I loved it. Charity and Quinn meet when both are traveling under assumed names. When they discover they are from the same small town – Marietta – they each have to decide whether their sparks are real and can they make it work? Quinn gets there faster than Charity does. Charity, a sweet girl who needs to get some self confidence, finally learns to trust. I love Quinn’s solid warmth, he feels like that strong, quiet hero that everyone needs and depends on. Charity does need some self confidence, but she knows it She knows what her childhood has cost her and she works to take steps forward. I appreciate that she’s not whiny, as too many heroines who are less than confident, tend to do. I love the chance to return to Marietta and see glimpses all the characters from interconnected stories from a wide range of authors, plus more of the Douglas and Wright families. This is a story full of warmth and the time it takes to learn to trust and love. No graphic sexy-times, this is all romance of the heart. I loved it. Jane Porter fans will enjoy this and those looking for a sweet Christmas story should check it out.
I’m going to head to Marietta for the Holidays. I know if I hear that Jane Porter has written a Christmas book than it is going to be good. Add in some of the favorite families from my favorite fictional town and all i really want to do i sit and drink a mug of hot chocolate and read. This is the 4th book in this series but of course each book can be read as a stand alone…but who would want to do that when you can read the others and enjoy the town so much, right? In this book we get to know Charity Wright and Pro Baseball player Quinn Douglas. While they meet outside of Marietta,at a resort in Wyoming, both are from Marietta. Charity is there acting as her friend who had to back out of going on the business trip and well frankly she needed to get away after walking in on a back situation with her skunk of an ex-boyfriend. Quinn is there to decide if he wants to invest in the resort. He knows the owners from his semi-pro ball days. Only issue is Charity is there under her friend’s name and her friend’s job which is not what she does at all. And Charity tends to forget a times. This book was so wonderful to read. It is always nice to read a book and see some of your favorite characters from past books show up in the storyline. It’s like they are coming by the say hi and waving at you. Well just know it is like that in this book. This book is going to be another one of repeat Christmas reads year after year.
So when Charity and Quinn first meet at a travel convention they were both there using fake names with good intentions, so they are enjoying each other’s company for four days and even falling for each other not even knowing their real names and then convention is over and it’s not likely they will ever see each other again right, WRONG!
This was such a scrumptious read I wish I could give it ten stars for taking me back to Marietta and the way it made me feel, like all my feel good emotions were just bubbling to the top, warming me through and through like a good hot bowl of stew on a chilly night.
Love! Love! Love! Words fail to describe how much I truly loved reading Charity Wright and Quinn Douglas’ story in Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter, the fourth book in her Love on Chance Avenue series. This Christmas story gives Ms. Wright a chance to find her Mr. Right and a lonely man trying to find a missing piece of his life a chance to locate it. Charity is struggling after another breakup with the wrong guy when her friend Tricia, a travel agent convinces her to pretend to be her and attend a Wyoming resort’s presentation. There Charity meets Seattle Sportswriter Douglas Quincy looking into investing in the resort. These two hit it out of the park, agreeing to be friends as the event ends. The problem is Douglas Quincy was actually Marietta’s famous Quinn Douglas survivor, baseball player and brother to McKenna and Rory. Clearing up their identities was the first thing they had to remedy, which Quinn accomplished with a visit to Marietta and his family.
Quinn was such a gentleman and down to earth person wanting to be known for the person he is, not what happened to him, what he does, or the amount of money in his bank account. Charity did not recognize him, which was a first for him and actually endeared her to him. Charity had baggage from previous relationships, leaving her with little self-confidence. Yet, Charity was kind, caring, loving, and fiercely protective of her loved ones. She needed to learn how to love and accept herself before she and Quinn could find their Happy Ever After. When an ex-girlfriend of Quinn’s appears, threatening her, Charity must find the inner strength to prove her love to Quinn. Quinn and Charity were perfect for each other. They were both caring and compassionate people. Charity saves a lost dog, giving it a home. Quinn steps in, staying longer in Marietta, to help out an injured friend who is unable to operate his Christmas Tree farm.
Ms. Porter, an amazing story teller in her own right, wrote a wonderfully sweet, emotional and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. This story is filled with sexual attraction, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A beautifully written romance that I won’t soon forget.
When Charity Wright went to Little Teton Resort in Wyoming, in her friend’s place, she had no idea she would meet the man she was destined to be with. Charity‘s last relationship ended badly and she had given up on men. She was only looking for someone to talk to while she was at the resort.
Quinn Douglas was at Little Teton Resort to see if it was worth investing in. He used a different name and profession because he didn’t want everyone to know he was a popular baseball player with the Seattle Mariners.
When Charity and Quinn met, under assumed names, they formed an instant friendship where they shared a lot of personal things with each other. In the end, they shared an unforgettable kiss. When the weekend was over, Charity headed back to Marietta without saying goodbye to Quinn. Charity told Quinn that she lived in Marietta during one of their talks, so he went there looking for her. Quinn also grew up in Marietta, but didn’t know Charity. The shock came when they met again and Charity found out who Quinn really was and Quinn found out Charity used her friend Tricia’s name while at the resort. Charity and Quinn were total opposites. Charity grew up in a struggling family with an alcoholic father. Quinn was popular and loved by everyone in town. But, Quinn didn’t care about Charity’s past or upbringing. He had fallen for her and he was willing to do anything to win her over. He just needed to convince her that she was worthy of his love and attention.
This book is hard for me to review without giving away too many details. But I can say, my heart went out to Charity with everything she had gone through and how she was afraid to fall in love with Quinn. Quinn’s tragic past is something that was visited in previous Marietta books, but it is told again in this story. Even though this is fiction, I still couldn’t help thinking how a person would overcome what he went through. This book is easy to read and follow and not a detail was missed. I felt I knew the characters well and enjoyed seeing them get their happily ever after. This book is the perfect addition to the other Marietta books and a wonderful, feel good Christmas story.
My favorite quote:
“Because you make me happy. Being with you makes me happy. And as we both know, life can be hard, and there are no guarantees, so we have to make the most of every single day we’re given.”
This is book four in the series. It is Charity Wright`s story.
Charity has had just a few problems in her dating past.
She has decided to forgo any romantic type involvement with men for the next month.
That is all good and well until she meets Quinn Douglass. Then the no dates, no kisses, no romantic notions plan goes right out the window.
Quinn is a Marietta “hometown boy”. He is also a professional baseball player. He certainly is not looking for any kind of romantic involvement. He, himself, is just getting past a break up of his own.
Quinn doesn’t want to be smitten by Charity but he can’t stop thinking about her. He even starts to wonder if this “hometown girl” might be an answer to a piece of his life that has been lacking. He’s not sure if a career with life on the road is what he fully needs anymore.
Charity has her own self doubt to contend with. Her life isn’t where she expected it to be at he 30. Always the caretaker, can she let herself be the one who is taken care of?
Maybe they are each the missing piece to the others puzzle?
Love this story. I love how Quinn and Charity each fight through their own personal doubts. I love how they choose to be on the other’s team. I love how them being together completes the puzzle of their lives. Very romantic and a wonderful Christmastime story!
Not Christmas Without You by Jane Porter
This story is about Charity and she’s heading to check out a spa for her friend in the Tetons.
She doesn’t want to be around when her ex is strolling with his new girl around town.
Story also follows Quinn and his baseball career and how he ends up in the Tetons.
Love that they act natural when they meet at the spa and are able to be themselves.
Later they discover he was from the same town Charity lives in. She does’t want to get involved with him or start anything serious because he’d be on the road for 9+ months a year with the ball team.
His ex girl is also in town delivering baseball artifacts for an auction but she thinks he still wnats to marry her…
Misundertandings, you wonder if they can get on the same path again. Love the new location in this book as we’ve yet to visit in that area. Sounds like just what we’d want in a vacation spot. Love hearing of all the festivities around town and how they all celebrate.
Love catching up with all the others as I’ve followed the towns stories for years now. Always something to look forward to.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end-in their order.
I received this review book from the author and this is my honest opinion.
