It is rare that I find a sci-fi book dealing with extraterrestrial beings, conspiracy theories, and government cover ups that I don’t enjoy. However, this book was the exception. The book started with a bang and quickly devolved into a redundant and drawn out story line that caused this readers eyes to finally glaze over. I stuck it out for the entire 700 pages, forcing myself to finish what I had started. Had Mr. Falconer finished what he started in about 300 pages it would have been an interesting, even spell-binding read. I would only recommend this book for someone who enjoys being bored nearly to tears and loves being jerked back and forth, up and down, hither and yon by an author trying to keep the reader’s interest.
Very goof First Contact story. There was a surprise around every corner and the 3 books took twists I couldn’t predict. My only compliant is that there were some lulls that I felt could have been edited out without losing anything. I still give it 5 stars for originality. Not your usual alien invasion story at all!
Not a lot of first contact fiction written these days, but this is a strong contender for the bunch.
I delved into this story because I was searching for an X-Files style UFO cover-up tale. While Not Alone doesn’t quite deliver that sort of flavor, it does in fact deliver its own special tone that I enjoyed.
And that’s after I was prepared to stop liking it. Without revealing spoilers, I enjoyed the direction the story was going, but then became dismayed with a left turn it took. I was subjectively disappointed, but am glad I continued on because it veered in yet another direction, of which I thoroughly enjoyed. That goes to show the writing that Falconer displays here: great characters and a winding story with reveals along the way. I can certainly see where some people may not like it due to a LARGE amount of time spent on characters literally just watching the news, but beyond that I would say definitely give it a try.

The jury is still out on this book as it feels like I’ve been reading it forever – it’s long and noneventful and I’m 33% through the book. Not sci fi at all. More about politics and the media. Very little to do with UFO’s. Tends to be boring – very little action. I’ll keep reading, maybe something will happen. I skip over much of the politics (i.e. I skim it). Not real good fiction so far. I’m giving the guy a chance however; sometimes book change directions 1/2 through. 🙂
A Science Fiction novel dealing with first contact with extraterrestrials. Conspiracies, government cover ups, disclosure – woohoo! It was well written and I enjoyed it. The pace was satisfying, pleasing characters and I’m glad I got it. And can’t wait to start book 2!
Good read… enjoyed it. The characters were all interesting.
Was a little boring for me, kept putting into a state of sleep!
One of the worst westerns I have ever read
ok read
Nice premise. Good story.
A fun romp through alien visits, international politics & media manipulation.
What a great book! It has it all: action, suspense, alien orbs, aliens, mystery, murder, lots of twists & turns and an ending that will surprise but is very satisfying. The author, Craig A. Falconer, has a very easy to read style and a creative story teller.
It is, of course, a book about aliens or rather alien orbs hence the title “Not Alone” but was written in such a way as to be somewhat plausible. There are enough twists, surprises and general excitement to hold most reader’s attention even though it’s a fairly long book.
My husband and I both read Not Alone and thoroughly enjoyed it and will read more works by Mr. Falconer. We highly recommend Not Alone.
