Can Nascar driver Davey juggle his racing career and a nine-year-old son he never knew he had, including the strange new woman who happens to be his son’s guardian? Can he trust her, or will she be like all the short-term women in his life?
Great storyline, characters you will love, and the plot you will enjoy. A contemporary fiction read you will enjoy from start to finish.
Another great book by Sedona Hutton
Nora’s Promise is not the first book by Sedona Hutton that I read. And it certainly won’t be the last. I love her books: the intriguing stories, well-developed, complicated and captivating characters, and the beautiful descriptions. Nora’s Promise is overflowing with powerful and conflicting emotions: grief versus happiness, desperation versus hope, vengeance versus forgiveness, and so much more.
Nora Williams is a beautiful person—inside and out. She’s devoted and caring to humans and animals, and she adores her nephew, Ben, who has never met his father and lost his mother at the sweet age of nine.
After her sister’s death, Nora tracks down Ben’s father, the famous NASCAR driver Davey Johnson. Disappointed by the self-centered and unreliable celebrity that he appears to be, she has second thoughts about her decision to find him.
And when Davey and Nora develop feelings for each other, things get even more complicated and…sizzling.
I kept turning pages, wishing and hoping for Nora to find out the real person under the famous NASCAR driver façade and give love a chance.
With so much negative emotion and stress in the world, it was endearing to read a feel good novel where everyone is granted a happily ever after ending. Failed relationships from the past impact the present but the characters bounce back and mature, and are smart enough to realize a good thing when the choices and opportunites they’re faced with in the present promise a rosy future. Nora is sweet and caring, a vegan, and can communicate with animals and her dead grandpa. Davey, a NASCAR driver, has tired of shallow relationships and living the wild life and is ready to settle into the role of father to a son he didn’t know he had. I love the way their lives meshed together after starting from a place where they had nothing in common but a 9 year old boy. Great secondary characters and life lessons learned add depth to the book. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
This was my first story by Hutton and first, listen by England. I was pleasantly surprised by both. Nora’s Promise is a Contemporary Romance. This story was like an onion with all it’s layers and I loved pulling them back one by one. It had the perfect amount of love and sex. Do you know how hard it is to find characters you actually love? Hutton has them in this novel! All in all I can’t wait to read or listen to another by this Author and Narrator.
4 Star review of Nora’s Promise by Sedona Hutton
Audio Review:
Author Sedona Hutton is a new author to me although I have listened to narrator Terri England before.
There are some paranormal elements to this story which I didn’t realise until I was into the story.
The narration was good and brought the story to life for me. When Nora suddenly finds herself the guardian of her nephew she is unsure what to do.
However she decides that the time is right to introduce him to his father Davey Johnson, a NASCAR driver who doesn’t know that he has a son.
I enjoyed this story which was heartwarming and entertaining.

I loved this book. This easily captured my interest and I was held captive until the end. This is a first time author for me. She did a great job with these characters and rounding out the story. I laughed and listened in wonder. I love all aspects of this book. The Vegan stuff, the cows, the farm, the mother and step father. All of it was worked in wonderfully to create a interesting and lovely story. The changes these characters made to become a better self was great to watch.
I did listen to this on audio. Terri England was the narrator. She did lovely. Her little boy voice was fun to listen to.
Nora’s Promise is author Sedona Hutton’s first book in her debut series Racing Hearts of Serenity. This series focuses on Nascar drivers and the town and people of Serenity, Tennessee. This is actually the first book I’ve had the pleasure of reading from Ms. Hutton and I was truly impressed! I look forward to reading more from her in the future!
Nora Williams became the guardian of her 9-year-old nephew, Ben, when her only sister dies. On the day she buries her sister, her boyfriend who also happens to be her boss, breaks up with her and fires her. Desperate to find work, Nora ends up working as a bartender at a local bar, after being guided by an unusual source to apply for a job there.
Davey Johnson is a Nascar race driver. He doesn’t do long-term or commitment and is extra careful when it comes to birth control. So when he gets an email from his estranged mother that says he’s a father, he doesn’t know what to believe.
What a fabulous story! Nora is a kind, caring, smart and funny young woman who’s just trying to do the best she can to raise and protect her nephew. She was an interesting character with some very unique abilities that gave this book an interesting twist. Poor Davey! I really liked him and felt he was doing the best he could after finding out he had a son after all these years. It wasn’t easy for him, especially in the beginning as he tries to adjust, but I felt he truly wanted to be the best father he could be for Ben. Ben truly was the highlight of this book! He was a fabulous character, a very enthusiastic, energetic boy that is happy to finally have a family.
This was so much more than just a romance story. It was a story of family, forgiveness, second chances, and new beginnings. Ms. Hutton delivered an extremely well-written story with fabulous characters and I loved the Nascar element along with the town of Serenity. I see AJ & CC will be starring in Book 2 & 3 of this series and I’m thrilled! I look forward to returning to the town of Serenity soon and hoping that some of my favorite characters will make an appearance in the upcoming stories. Highly recommend!
This book has everything—love, sex, characters you’d love to actually meet (including an adorable kid), and to top it all off, animals and a bit of the paranormal. I loved Nora’s ability to communicate with animals, and for me, that’s what set this book apart from other romances. There was plenty of desire and sex in the book, but more importantly, the author shows the relationship between the two main characters, Nora and Davey, developing into a deep and abiding love. All in all, Nora’s Promise is a beautiful story.
Nora’s Promise has love, sex, characters you’d love to actually meet, animals and even a bit of the paranormal–and it all works great together. There’s plenty of sexual tension (and sex) but more importantly, the author shows the relationship between Nora, a small town woman who communicates with animals, and Davey, a champion NASCAR driver, developing into real love. Sedona Hutton is a heck of a writer, and I am eager to read her next book in the series.
well done difference romance. I enjoyed this one a lot. A little bit comedy and a bunch of romance. Excellent blend.
