Happy Birthday, Raven. Welcome to Noir Reformatory. Not what every girl wants to hear on her 18th birthday, but I accepted my fate long ago. Once my wings turned black, I knew I’d be stuck behind bars.A Noir Angel for life. That’s fine.I’ll own this prison just like I did back home.Even if it’s ruled by two hot kings. This reformatory isn’t all-girls; it’s co-ed. Which means I’m outnumbered … co-ed. Which means I’m outnumbered ten-to-one by brutes with more brawn than brain. Not a problem. I thrive on aggression and this place is riddled with it. A nightmare wrapped up in an ebony cloak.
Well, bring it on, boys.
Just try and claim me.
Note: This MMF romance novel is part of the Paranormal Prison collection and the start of a brand new “Why Choose” series by USA Today Bestselling Authors Lexi C. Foss & J.R. Thorn.

This is a new series to me and I did not realize that I should have read some of the other books before this one. I plan on reading the other books in the Paranormal Prison series to have a better understanding of this world. Raven was born with black wings and has lived in a juvenile detention center her entire life. All she wants is her freedom and thought that she would get it as she was turning eighteen. However, instead of being freed, she is transferred to the reformatory where she meets Sorin and Zain. Imprisoned for over a century, Sorin and Zain do what they must to ensure their survival, whatever that entails. Things change when Raven enters the picture and the three are faced with making some changes to their way of doing things. How will this new dynamic affect them? You need to read the book to find out. Filled with some twists and turns that readers will not see coming will have you on the edge of your seat. It took a bit to understand what was going on and why this was happening to Raven and the others and it ends in what can be called a cliffhanger as more questions are raised. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Fantastic start to a new series by two of my fave authors!! Raven has had a rough life. She was born a Noir with black wings which is apparently supposed to be impossible. She has been in prison all her life so this is just a change for her though still a hard to adapt to change. She soldiers through it though as each new challenge is thrown her way. Full of twists and surprises to keep you guessing making for a great read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This is one of seven books in a the multi-author paranormal romance series- Paranormal Prison. Each story seems to weave in nicely with another. I decided to read this because I really enjoy other authors in the series and had not previously read anything by this author. Safe to say I am now following on all platforms, I was pleasantly surprised with how this book hooked me in.
When she turns 18, Raven, an angel with black wings (Noir Angel,) moves from an all girls reform school to the co-ed Noir Reformatory. A prison for fallen angels, it’s a brutal place to be and as the only female, Raven is vulnerable.
Luckily, she is housed with two decent Noir Angels, Sorin and Zane. None of the three are happy with the arrangement, and the boy’s relationship makes Raven crazy. When one is inevitably punished for assisting Raven, things become even more strained.
Over time the trio bonds, and together, they begin to plan. They know if they stay much longer they will be killed. There’s also the mystery of Raven’s black wings, which she was born with unlike the others who committed a sin that turned their white wings dark.
An excellent paranormal, mmf romance. In addition to the Paranormal Prison series, this is the first book in Lexi C. Foss and J. Thorne’s new Why Choose series.
Paranormal on fire!!! The chemistry between Zian, Raven, and Sorin will leave you breathless!!! Love this paranormal romance by Lexi C. Foss and Jennifer Thorn!!! I can’t wait to see where this series takes us next!!! Read and enjoy!!!
This was a really enjoyable read that kept my attention throughout.
I really liked the prison setting with this one it was imaginative and action-packed and was an easy page-turner.
This is a collaboration between 2 authors and it was seamless.
This story is part of a larger group each by different authors but set in the world of Nightmare Penitentiary, this is my first experience with this series but I am definitely going to check out some of the others on offer.
This story features a menage at its centre, it’s scorching in the heat department burning my eyes with its intensity.
The main characters are all Noir Angels which are angels who have fallen, in the process their white wings turning black.
Sorin and Zain are Ex-warrior Angels who are now top of the prison hierarchy while Raven has been born into her wings an apparent impossibility.
There’s plenty of M/M action here as well as the Menage stuff as Sorin and Zain are already in an established pairing.
This was gritty and dark and all sorts of sexy, I especially enjoyed the overall dynamic between our triad.
I really enjoyed this one a lot and can’t wait to read more set in this world from both these authors and others.
this one gets a definite thumbs up from my camp.

Sor-rrrry, Char-lieeeee!
Come back later.
I’m reading quality smut right now.
I write notes when I read ARCs. The notations for this one includes: “Raven + Sorin + Zian = Sizzle,” and “Raven needs to bang that naughty cowboy Noir and ride him to the highway.” That would be about Sorin–and you’ll agree. Trust me; he’s a rideable book boyfriend. You are going to want to Amazon a saddle.
Nora and Noir are just like you and me; it isn’t always what we stand for that makes us good people; it’s what we fall for that shows the world our colors. Sorin and Zian spent their Nora lives as warriors, but they couldn’t act against their conscience, and they fell. Now, Noir angels the two and their friend Novak are in the Noir Reformatory system, imprisoned and punished.
They aren’t expecting any boons from above in the form of a bird of trouble.
Raven is a renegade from a transport ship moving prisoners to the Noir Reformatory. And although a female Noir is few and far between no one seems to want to treat her with much kindness, except for Sorin–she mistakenly draws blood in repayment; now her protection is out to draw hers.
These three are hot tamales. I mean, raunchy hotness. I love Lexi C. Foss; she is a total favorite at this point. Now I’m off to check out Jennifer Thorn. Smut is the perfect cure for a pandemic-inducing, confinement filled with book reading happiness. Add this to your TBR.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.
A fantastic read. I just love the fiesty female Character and how the Author has done the world building and the characters Development. This read grabbed me right from the start to finish and is definitely a must read.

I’m a little torn on my rating for this book, it had great writing and good world building, scorching hot sex scenes and three engaging characters but I just felt that the plot was a little lacking. For me there was far too long spent wash, rinse repeating the same stuff, and whilst I enjoyed what I read, I also felt like I wasn’t always really getting anywhere either.
It would have made sense if this time had been used to develop the males into two very distinct characters but, to be honest, at the end their personalities still felt far too similar. One of the heroes even spends a couple of weeks being tortured, none of which we got to witness. We didn’t have one scene from his time at this mad woman’s hands, not one moment of seeing him survive by thinking of his friends, dreaming of Raven, or just being determined not to let the bad guys win.
I guess I’m just used to something a little more complex, more sophisticated and just all around “more” from one of these authors. It’s still a really good read, a fun and interesting story that held my attention easily from start to finish. Despite being a stand-alone, there are some lose ends that need tying up – I’m hoping that is done in future books featuring other protagonists. I do recommend this to paranormal romance readers, especially if you love a lot of MMF action.
4 Cranky Stars
In this land of angels when an angel commits a crime, their wings turn black, and they are cast out and become fallen angels. These fallen are sent to a prison where they are made to fight and kill to survive.
In the prison 2 warriors, Zian and Sorin, who didn’t follow orders and were cast out hundreds of years ago meet up with Raven, a female fallen, not only are female rare, but they have to do something really bad to be cast out. Raven was born with black wings, raised in juvenile detention center till 18 when she was sent to the same prison as Zian and Sorin. They learn they are compatible mates and pursue there lust/love while trying to figure out how to escape. Very steamy, great story lines, good plot, definitely a must read.
Where do I begin?
Well at this point I would have to say that if these two authors wrote a manual on how to use a toilet, I would read it. Cover to cover.
I swear Foss and Thorn make such a great combo. I honestly cannot tell where one author begins and another ends. The transitions are flawless. The characters are unique and grow from chapter to chapter. You’re not left wanting. Okay…maybe a little. I mean who isn’t ever eager for the book two? I sincerely am looking forward to the next portion of this saga? Series? Thing?
This world has sucked me in and I need more. I love MMF romances and this has the paranormal twist that makes it all the better. This is the first book I read by this duo and you can’t even tell there are two authors. The story flowed so well and hooked me from the beginning. You won’t be disappointed.
Noir Reformatory is part of the Paranormal Prison series. The book focuses on raven, a young Noir born with black wings who has been taken to the Noir reformatory on her 18th birthday. There she meets Zian and Sorin, two men who have been together for centuries who she is then imprisoned with. Here the three have to overcome obstacles in order to survive whilst raven is trying to figure out who she is and what she means to the two men.
The book has a lot of action in it where the Noir with black wings have to fight each other until they basically cull themselves, but it takes pretty much until the end chapters of the books for us to find out why and where Raven stands in all of this. Meanwhile we have the growing relationship between the three which sort of comes around because they are thrown together and Zian and Sorin are intrigued by raven and what she is as well as trying to balance the relationship they already have with each other.
As in previous books, Novak makes an appearance and just tantalizes you enough to want to keep reading. There is a lot going on in this book and the main focus is trust and how it is built. Scenes between the three characters are certainly steamy but there were times where I just felt as a reader, I wasn’t connected with the characters like I was in previous books in the series. There are a lot of actions scenes to keep you entertained as well as a revelation at the end which helps you to understand a little bit more about Raven.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review
More of my reviews can be found on my blog: https://thehotmesslibrary.blogspot.com
I loved this book, dark suspense, intrigue, blood, brutality and oodles of super hot chemistry between three strong, feisty characters.
Raven has grown up in the prison system, all because she was born with black wings, not white. She’s a fighter full of heart, but when she’s transferred to Noir Reformatory on her 18th birthday, she quickly realises that as the only female, she’s in a lot of trouble.
It’s survival of the fittest, strongest and cleverest of the noir Angels. Raven is thrust together in one cell with male warriors Zain and Sorin (HOT!!). They have to learn to work together and trust in each other to survive the cruel and viscious tests they are all forced to endure, all the while fighting a potential mating bond that could prove their weakness. But what is the purpose of the prison and the trials…. reformation? Or is there a darker force at work?
I was gripped from the start of this action packed, dark pnr romance. It was steamy, sexy hot mmf/mf/mm, my favourite combination! These authors write very well together and know how to build a world full of depth and detail. It was seamless and I didnt want to stop turning the pages.
This book is part of the nightmare penitentiary, paranormal prison series by various authors, but I’m hoping there will be more from these noir angels because I need them! Cant wait for what comes next.
5 hot, dark stars
I am beyond pleased with this book because it tells a tale of angel lore I have never heard before. It is a unique and bold story and very, very addicting. I could not wait to turn the pages and see what happened next. I had guesses and thoughts but the twists were so unexpected that I was blown away and I ended up talking to this story a lot. LOL.
This is actually my first read from these authors and I am excited to read more. This is the first in a new series and I WILL be reading those. The way the authors developed the characters was my favorite aspects because I thought by chapter five I knew these characters, that I had their behaviors and ticks down but I didn’t. The authors only reveled key elements when it was important. That kept me engaged. I recommend this book and this series. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. 4.5 stars.
Noir Reformatory: The Beginning
A co-ed paranormal prison with fallen angels sets the backdrop of this dark MMF romance. It took me a few chapters to really feel invested in this story, but as with everything else I’ve read by Ms Foss, once the story grabbed me it compelled me to devour all the words till I reached the end. The steaminess factor is considerably more in comparison to some of the author’s other works. Even with this upped heat there is still a good story underneath that has just enough mystery to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what’s next in this new series.
4.5 Reformed Stars
Another great prequel to a new series by Lexi and JR ThornIt took me a little bit to get my mind around what was happening in this one as it’s so different conceptually to other paranormal books out there, but I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much too
Raven finds herself being moved to a new prison on her 18th birthday. When she arrives, she finds herself in a cell with two Noir male warriors, Z and Sorin A steamy read and I’m excited to see what these authors have in store for the next book
Thank you to Lexi for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review
She was born with black wings, unlike the others who acquire them by falling from grace.
She’s spent eighteen years of her life in a female juvenile detention centre but now she’s an adult, Noir reformatory awaits her.
Surrounded by volatile males who glare at her with lust in their eyes, can she survive long enough to find any allies…?
What an exciting and action packed read! Never a dull moment that’s for sure!
This is the fourth book released within the paranormal prison series written by a selection of authors, and I dont know about you but I’m loving them!
Games of death is the order of the day, so much killing and heart eating, training and fighting.
Amongst the battles and trials is three unbonded characters who are extremely compatible and getting closer by the day.
Their relationship is based on one word “trust” and until that is earnt, action is limited but still mouth watering.
Soren and Zian are primarily warriors. They strive to be the best, and rule the roost no matter their location.
Raven is quite the innocent, as she’s uneducated in the world around her. She’s a scraper not a trained fighter relying on her sight and speed more than her fists.
They make for a rather formidable team together though, and I must admit I loved the pairing of the trio.
I can’t wait to read the continuation of this series as its started with a bang and I just know its only going to get better! if that’s possible that is!
Oh wow. This story is seriously intense in every possible way. Sexual tension, fighting to survive, plotting and trying to dig out secrets and most of all trying to understand.. with this last task I think we fail badly, which of course makes the story even more interesting. There is more than we don’t understand than we do, there is always something new throw at us. Surviving in this penitentiary is obviously hardest tasks of all. The plot is really amazing, full of twists and turns. And the epilogue did just kill me. World created for this story is one in a kind, and we were only shown a slight part of it, can’t wait to learn more about it. Characters are well defined and interesting, each unique. And Raven is simply beautiful, inside and out. She is brave, she is a fighter and she is pure in some ways bur holds lots of intelligence. I really love her and this book in total, it deserve definitely more than 5 stars.
So I’m pretty sure Lexi C. Foss and J.R. Thorn were born to write together. Holy shit. Noir Reformatory: The Beginning was nothing that I expected. I knew it would be great, I didn’t realize it’d knock my socks off!
From the beginning we are thrown into a brutal and unforgiving world. Raven has some shit to deal with. Imprisoned her entire life she really doesn’t know what freedom is, she wants it more than anything though. She’s a freaking fighter and slowly proves to those around her that she won’t take shit from anyone. Even if it kills her. Sorin and Zain were a huge surprise. Sorin the tough protector who has a soft side. Zain the careful one who analyzes everything. I want them both!
Now I’ll give you a slight warning, you are going to need whatever gets you off beside you cause this book is fecking HOT! Like steam coming from the pages hot. I think my kindle needed a cigarette afterwards. These two delicious men show Raven ALL the pleasures. Grab a fan, you’ll need it.
I honestly couldn’t tell two different people penned this together. It flowed seamlessly. An amazingly hot start to what will be an epic series!
