Allix O’Connor, queen of feisty, with an attitude sharper than her favourite hunting knife, has secrets not even her three best friends know about. Right now, she’s babysitting Baylee’s bookstore while her friend honeymoons with new husband Daxon, the shifter clan leader. Her world has changed completely since the shifter clan moved into Hangman’s Haunt, and now the threat of war hangs over all … all their heads like a guillotine.
Just a few months ago, Allix would never have believed that such creatures existed.
Now she’s got a supernatural stalker.
Archer, a centuries-old vampire from the Ireland of old, has a mission: determine whether or not to side his coven against the new Montana shifter clan in the advancing war. Simple enough, right? Maybe it would have been, if he hadn’t laid eyes on a slim blonde with a penchant for fighting him at every turn. All he wanted was to complete the mission and maybe have a bit of fun–maybe a snack–with the mortal woman who’s captured his attention completely.
But when it comes to the supernatural, nothing’s ever simple.
Dark secrets from Allix’s past threaten to tear her apart, and shatter the easy camaraderie between Allix and her friends. Allies from Archer’s past and present are gathering in the coming darkness, whispering of blood and death. Together, they must learn to trust in each other before hell comes to claim them both.

We’re back in the Haunt. Hangman’s Haunt has now been taken over by a shifter clan, most of whom have never been out of a hidden valley. Luckily, Hangman’s Haunt is a small town and now the shifters are starting to mix in well with the other inhabitants.
Allix is one of Baylee’s friend. She’s pretty much a BAMF, and will smack down anyone who needs it. She’s tough and she knows it. She trains with shifters and helps to patrol the town so they know if anyone is sneaking in trying to turn their war active. So, when she sees a strange man who is watching her then suddenly disappears, she knows that something weird is happening.
Archer is a vampire who has been sent out by his elder to see if they should side with Dax’s father or just stay out of the war altogether. But then he sees Allix, and he knows that he has to have her. That leads to all kinds of trouble that no one was expecting.
OMG, I got so mad at certain people in this. Allix, for all that she’s tough as nails, gets treated badly by those people and I just about wanted to smack them for her. She was kinder to them than I would’ve been. She, Archer, and all the shifters go through a lot in this book, and it really moves the overall storyline well. I’m looking forward to the next one.
This one was different. I didn’t expect it to be so good I’m gonna have to get the first one everything fit together
The second book in the Hangman’s Haunt series and in this book we get to follow Allix’s story.
I absolutely loved the first book in the series and it is always a guess what the second book will be like, but I am happy to say that I loved this one just as much.
Allis come across as a strong feisty warrior, but she has a dark secret. A secret that broke her. Then one night Asher, a 600 year old vampire turns up in Hangman’s Haunts and turns Allix life around. It starts a chain reaction that will test Allix friendship with her best friends and will have her face her darkest memories.
Asher may come across as a cocky guy at first, but there is a sensity, loyal man hiding in there who carries a lot of pain on his shoulders.
This is a very intense and heartbreaking book, but it also shows the power of love. Allix and Asher have an amazing bond and their love overcomes so much.
It is an amazing book and I couldn’t stop reading until I was done.
In book one of this series, Wild, we meet four strong, independent women who have been best friends since childhood; Baylee, Allix, Brenna and Cassie. Baylee finds her soulmate Daxson and is introduced to his clan, which she didn’t know existed.
The second book, Nocturnal starts off with Allix helping out in Baylee’s bookstore. She’s reminiscing about all the times she and her friends have hung out
at Hangman’s Copse, a woodland area they have spruced up to talk and sometimes get drunk.
Brenna has visions and sees Allix with a man but she’s assured he will cause her no harm. Allix meets Archer, a 600 year old vampire on the street. He tells her, “You’re more important than you think, Blondie. You can hiss and claw and fuss like a feral kitten but if it escaped your notice, I’m bigger, stronger and faster than you’ll ever be. Now, are you going to play nice or do I have to put you in your place.”
“Stunned, Allix stood frozen on the sidewalk, her brain blank and her body on fire. Torn between running for cover and chasing after him, she simply…stood, staring in the direction he’d gone. She’d never gotten so wet, so quickly, in her entire life.”
An engaging storyline with a highly sexually charged atmosphere continues as we follow Allix to a place that she was not aware was her chosen destination.
Good and evil. Truth and lies. Pleasure and pain. Life and death. Allix experiences all of these as her secret is revealed and her story unfolds. Trust is of the utmost importance.
Archer’s character is more endearing than any reader can expect of a vampire. He feels emotion and love like no other vampire. Allix is captivated. “My lover. My heart. My savior. My world.”
Nocturnal, is another 5 plus star read for me. Ms Parker has written another awesomely delicious, riveting book with unforgettable characters and sex scenes that will leave you flushed and wanting a skilled, patient lover like Archer. Her story telling is superb and flawless. With twists and turns this story will have you reacting in so many different ways. From laughter, anxiety, to tears and compassion. I’m eagerly anticipating book three, Eclipse, which is Brenna’s story. There’s a bigger war among the clans yet to take place. I know for certain after reading books one and two, that I will appreciate and savor the adventure that will be released soon.
I loved this second book in the series! It was darker than the first but that didn’t bother me at all! I loved how feisty Allix was! Great read!
This second installment in the Hangman’s Haunt series is so hot that it just might melt a hole in your kindle screen! Ms. Parker combines a tough, take-charge heroine hiding a dark secret with a seriously sexy, vampire Dominant in this exciting, spicy paranormal romance.
Allix O’Connor is at a crossroads in her life. She is tired of minding her friend Baylee’s bookshop and working her shifts at the local bar. She feels like she should be doing something to get ready for a possible impending war with the shifter factions who have taken sides against Baylee’s new husband Dax.
Archer is a 600 year old vampire who has been sent by the Elder of his coven to do reconnaissance on the Hangman’s Haunt shifter community. Once he encounters Allix in an alley and she holds her own with him by using her knife, he decides that he must meet with her again. Archer is surprised to feel the first stirrings of desire in more years than he cares to remember. After a particularly nasty shifter brawl in the bar where Allix works, Archer approaches Allix once again. They discover an intense attraction, and Archer marks Allix.
Allix’s friend Brenna has been gifted with the “sight”. Brenna is terrified by what she sees in store for her best friend, and doesn’t trust Archer. Doing what she feels is best to help her friend, Brenna allows a trap to be set using Allix, causing her to feel betrayed by everyone she has grown to love. Escaping with Archer, Allix finally reveals her darkest secrets to him, including stories from her past that have left her feeling broken, vulnerable, and unworthy of love. Archer believes that with the proper treatment from a caring Dom, Allix can be healed. But will he get the chance before the encroaching war takes away Allix’s last hope for love?
This book picks up right where Wild leaves off, so I would recommend reading these books in order.
This second book is smoking hot! (It does contain many scenes of D/s, including flogging, anal and rough sex, as well as some possible triggers, in case you need to be aware of that.)
Archer was a really terrific hero. He always seemed to know just what Allix needed, in order for her to allow herself to heal from her past, and open herself to the possibility of being worthy of love. I do think that some of the many lengthy sex scenes became a little repetitive, and caused the story to lag a bit in places.
There were quite a few action scenes to keep the read interesting though, and overall this is shaping up to be quite an exciting new series. I’m looking forward to book 3!
I received an ARC of this book, and I voluntarily chose to write an honest review.
Nocturnal is book 2 in this amazing series! You can read it as a standalone, but the characters cross over in each book, so it’s helpful to know the background of the storyline. Allix is strong – she has a warrior’s heart, but she doesn’t expect to find someone who can handle her. There’s a war brewing on the horizon, and tough decisions have to be made. This was sexy and so intriguing, and yet there is also high emotion and heartbreak. I’m now so enthralled with this series, and I hope to see Cassie’s story next!
For adult readers only.
This is the 2nd book in this series. I really like this series, however Allix is my least favorite character of the four friends for this series.
Allix is tired of looking after her friends bookshop, she’s tired of her job, she feels like should be doing more to help Baylee’s mate with brewing shifter war.
Archer is a 600 year old vampire who was sent to the Haunt by his Elders to feel out the shifter community. Archer has a run in with Allix and her knife, which intrigues him.
This book could be read as a stand alone, but it does pick up where the first one left off. Personally, I would recommend reading them in order.
What I don’t like about this book. The sex scenes can get pretty rough, flogging, anal, and the like, which isn’t exactly the ploblem, but the sex scenes them self are so very long that they make the story itself drag and less enjoyable.
I like the action of the book. Most of the characters are great. The Archer characters is a wonderful addition to the story. I think the book is well written with a good plot.
